You can download them to your hard drive & I think you could use some video editing software to slow them down. I've got something that slows video down but loses sound whilst doing so but I bet there's something out there that will do this.

Downloading is easy http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/ will save any YouTube file &/or convert it to MP3 for you.

 • 3 years later...

Anyone have any good updates to this - still nothing on YouTube that is particularly helpful or any bass tab? I can't see the link on the earlier posts so not sure what was out there.

It's in Bb. The verse is D/G/ | Eb/Bb/ |
and that is all you need to know... then all you need to do is get your head round the general style
and run with it.
Try singing along with the bass line to get the general groove and then play what you can sing/hum
Making it sit and making it work and move will help you far more than ripping every little nuance and note.
Play it with your own personality... and if that is any good, you'l leap-frog all the imitators.

+1

its a pretty simple concept he's playing around with on this track imo and you just need to work that out and then a few variations of it and play around with it

It's in Stuart Clayton's book:

I think there should be a small discount for such a terrible cover!

....It is a pretty simple thing....

The basis of Bernard Edwards bass lines is that they are always very simple. They are far more complicated play, though, because he fills them up with ghost notes, accents and pushes.

The problem is that it doesn't sound right if you try to leave any of that stuff out.
Have to say the last one is not the video you'd want to post. It has no pop or groove...... take 2...and counting................
sounded closer to the original to me, the first has too many passing notes.

It think I'd be pretty pleased with either of them.
