RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Gutted . A true legend. Having said that ,I was wondering if he bored himself to death. After underwater sunlight. , td were very tedious to listen to IMHO . Says a lot that , they are always on my iPhone even in this day and age . R I p. Shame the bauman / froese / franke lineup never reunited
namefail
Rest in peace Edgar Froese, thanks for the music.
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
I found out from a friend via text. I also saw it in the guardian via google. Did the bbc bother to mention it?
Wilco
Very sad news indeed. Fondly remember getting a TD 4 album vinyl boxset for a Crimbo present in my early teens, & have been a fan ever since. Currently got their 2013 album Finnegan's Wake pretty much on permanent repeat on my iPod. If someone was to put me on the spot & ask "what's your favourite song by any artist ever?", i would answer with TD's Cloudburst Flight. Musical genius for sure. RIP. RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
That 4 album box set is the nuts! Shame on Virgin for not putting it on cd tho'. Btw ; best froese album ? Macular trancefer IMHO
Ticktock
Guitarist told me in an email half an hour ago. Sad news.
KevB
Pioneers of a genre. Just listening to a bit of TD now in remembrance. The 2 Virgin compilations covering 1974-1983 in total are worth having though I have a few original albums as well.
paul j h
Hi all, I have a Edgar quote in my signature, he was an inspiration and his contribution to electronic music and music in general can not be underestimated. RIP, you will be sadly missed.
vsmith1
RIP - saw TD in mid 70s - always stayed with me. Got me into a whole load of German stuff - Schulze, Ash Ra Tempel, etc.
Beedster
Saw them when I was a student of electronic music in the early 80's. Definitive leaders of the genre, made Kraftwerk look like Jedward
ambient
I only discovered them last year, but was extremely impressed with them. I was only listening to Phaedra the other night.
ash
His solo album Epsilon in Malaysian Pale is beautiful, it's hard to get the original version as it was remixed and 'improved' for CD but if you can get it buy it! To me it's a work of genius. I met him and Chris Franke at Manchester Apollo 1981 at a TD gig and he patiently signed our record covers and spoke a few words with us. RIP Edgar. hairychris
RIP Ricochet is amazing. Got me into wanting to do more synth-related stuff.
