After promising for ages, I've finally managed to get some images of mine. This is a Series II, ordered by me from Sheffield Carlsboro Sound Centre and delivered in 1986 (Phil Oakey and his then partner - one of the HL singers - was in the shop when I visited to collect: they'd just finished a Saturday morning kids show on TV). It's number 251 and has a Padauk top. I used this bass for the second part of my 'career' (up until around '91). It is very heavily gigged but I looked after it so it's still in extremely good condition. The only signs of age are some greying of the lacquer at the sides of the fretboard (a bit of WD40 on the board helped with this but hasn't remedied it fully - thanks OTPJ!) The bass still plays beautifully and sounds thunderous (it's a Status!) Apologies for the poor quality of the images - my talent for photography is matched by that for playing bass
Crikey Loz, you've mentioned it before but I didn't realise it was such a looker! I love the look of these basses (one of my all-time favourite shapes) but the shape unfortunately absolutely hates me.

you chaps are in the know,so, I was wondering can you have leds fitted to a really old status? (mine can be seen on musicman porn thread)
is it a daft idea? will it spoil it? love the idea of a "red" xmas tree!!
ps dont like status page thats why I ask here!!

As the brotherhood have already told you, Martin Simms will retrofit LEDs, as will Status. Usual cost is about 300-350 per side. So the average is £700 if you want both front and side ones.

I think SIMS also do the flashy ones where they flash on and off as you play. How cool? :)
Wow - I don't know if the serial numbers were seperate for each model at that time [as they are now], but my original Status SII was #402, produced in 1987.

Rich.
Mine's number 263 - born on November 24th 1986. I really must get some pix posted up here...!! :)

Ordered her early last year and go her arounfd July. You are right regarding the front/back - not sure if Rob has done any with a matching back other than mine, which I asked for.

Rob's done a couple of KingBasses like that (with the matching front and back) that I've seen, strangely mainly walnut ones like yours. I like how the cream accent stripe has been moved on the back as well. That's certainly unusual, as is the redesigned top of the body shape where the body meets the neck. Very very nice bass, mate.

No i mean the fact that they're in little boxes so you can only see little bits of the picture at a time. Do i have to like register or something?

How fast is your internet connection? Sounds like they might be taking a long time to download. If you wait they will probably come in eventually and then you can click on them and they will come up on the full screen. Problem solved?

It really isn't an irritating site. It's a great resourse for Status basses.

Indeed it is. A wonderful place for people who love Status and all they stand for. :)

And while I'm at it, I had a long trawl through our mammoth thread here the other day & tried to find the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous Status bass owned by a member on here. I came up with this one...

Lozbass' Series II #251 is [for me] the most beautiful example of a mid 80's Status I could possibly imagine. Congrats, Laurence! Hope you all agree

It turns out it's because noscript was blocking the script from the website which stopped it from displaying the picture properly. It's all done and sorted now though :)
