I really am not sure what's going on, but I'm scared.

I've started listening to Jazz recently, and I have been enjoying it.

I blame my boss. He's a jazz musician. I know what's going on! The Jazz agenda is being promoted from those within the circle to incite new recruits!

On a serious note - how far into the vast genre of Jazz does Air lie? Probably pretty tame, right? Well, I've been listening to Air a lot recently. They have some seriously good songs, and are clearly very talented musicians - an aspect of Jazz which nobody could deny. Are they a "gateway" [s]drug[/s] band?

Georgie Fame is the thin end of the wedge as far as Jazz is concerned. This is from his album 'The Blues and Me'. There's some great musicians on this album (I believe they were the band from The Letterman Show). I love the album but this is one of my favorites. You can listen to the other tracks from the album here on youtube too. Bassist is Will Lee and he plays some very classy bass this album.

About as far as Darts is 'into the vast genre of' Sport...

Don't get me wrong, 'Moon Safari' is a great album but it's hardly Bird.

If you like things spacious and textural, I'd try 'Kind of Blue' from the main Miles canon.

It's my favourite genre.
Jazz covers a huge range of genres like Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Kurt Elling & EST, but can then go to drum n' bass & the more experimental electronica sounding stuff like 4Hero, Skalpel & one of my faves, Nerve.

Careful. You'll be wearing roll neck sweaters soon and start smoking a pipe!

I would quite like a pipe... just for emphasis, not to smoke.
