I bought this beauty from Legion (aka Jas) about a month or so ago and it is immaculately made, beautiful to look at and light as a feather (7lb 6 oz), which is great for my dodgy back. The one problem is I cannot get on with the 1.75" nut width and hence I am moving it on. Unfortunately the original BassDirect ad listed this as having a 1.5" Jazz width nut and I only discovered when I collected from Jas that this wasn't the case (he incidentally didn't mention the nut width in his ad and I just assumed the BassDirect listing was correct, so its no fault of Jas). Those who follow my ludicrous buying/selling history will know I sold my year-of-birth 1963 P bass as I could no longer handle the 1.75" nut width (long story starting with a broken left hand in 2011). I hoped that I could cope with this width on the Lull (especially as its quite a shallow neck front to back) but its not the case, sadly

There are lots of photos in Jas' thread http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2241854

and here is the original FS thread referencing the BassDirect listing http://basschat.co.u...ull-p4-on-hold/

Here are BassDIrect's original pics. Other than one tiny pin head-sized indentation on the underside the bass looks as if it just left the factory (it hasn't left my house since I got it and Jas' pics show the immaculate condition)

[s]I am after recouping the £1600 value we agreed in our p/x trade or as close as poss[/s]. £1500 with handover in central London. Comes in a Protec Lull-branded semi-hard gigbag. Collection preferred in London area

Oh, sorry to hear that you couldn't get on with the neck after all.

For those reading - being a fat-necked-P-bass-person I didn't even notice that the neck was wide and thought nothing of it. It was only when we met for the handover that Clarky asked about it...at which point I thought "dunno what width it is, never really noticed" so we went ahead anyway as the neck is nice and shallow front to back so Clarky was hoping it would be ok.

Cracking P bass. Covet not thy neighbours Pino, covet his Lull instead :)

Sorry for now will look to a straight sale. The only p/x I can think of that would float my boat would be a CIJ Fender PB70-US, the 70s Precision with a B width neck (1.625") in oly white. Or trade +/- cash for a B-width early 1970s US Fender P in sunburst or oly white (rosewood neck only) or a Rob Allen Mouse fretless. A bit specific :D

Bloody hell! Memory Lane! And on a Saturday morning, as well! Thanks for that, Billy Apple - made my day, there!

You lost then?

Yes. I just use a rubber banana now.

Er... and that's a damn fine bass, Clarky. If I hadn't already squandered my loot on a case of rubber bananas, I'd have had that.

What I remember most about this series , apart from the fabulous theme song , was that everything else about it completely unfathomable. The storyline was impossible to follow, the continuity was atrocious and the dialogue was wooden and very badly dubbed. All that added to the appeal of the show of course. Ah , happy memories of the six week summer holidays at my granny's and the Flasing Blade T.V on every morning.

Totally empathise about the 1.75 nut thing , I can't play them either . Had to sell my otherwise perfect G&L for exactly the same reason . These Lulls are some of the very best basses money can buy and are absolutely effortless to play , probably because they are made by a man who truly is a master luthier and an absolute perfectionist. GLWTS.

Here's a thumbs up to the neck width.

I feel as though this listing needs a well deserved 'other side of the coin' and I genuinely love these necks.

Good luck with the sale, cracking bass.

For sure , there are just as many people who prefer 1.75 on a Precision as those who like something a bit narrower.

Maybe a Roscoe LG 3000 ?

Hi there, thanks for the offer but I would prefer a sale or - failing that - one of the trades mentioned in post 6 above

PS, thanks for comments Dingus and ChiliWailer. If you like a 1.75" nut width you will like this bass a lot, sadly my left hand just aches when I play it for more than a few minutes

This is such a beautiful bass and I was tempted in the past - I too had assumed/read 1.5" for the nut. I seem to feel a need for a Precision just now - I've had loads and never got on with them but there's a timeless rock'n'roll coolness to the design (unlike me)

I have had a lowball offer in Euros with shared shipping so I just want to make some points clear:

1. If its a non-UK sale, the shipping is extra and paid by the buyer (likely about £60 to mainland Europe)
2. The price is in £ (pounds) and if a non-UK buyer wishes to make an offer, that person has to pay me in £ (ie, they take the currency exchange rate risk, not me)

For a quick deal I will accept £1500 with handover in central London. I won't go lower as I have no pressing need to sell right now
