New Jimi Hendrix documentary

I watched some of it last night but couldn't stand to see it through to the end.
I get why he was a sensation back then, and did enjoy the documentary as it did explain who he was etc,but to me his playing, especially live, leaves me very cold and bored. I find it very difficult to hear any actual music in his playing, its all noise.

To me he was just the first of many who could make a racket and get called a genius.

I liked it a lot. But no mention of where all the money went! :)
Yes I was hoping that would get a mention

Other documentries have suggested Noels departure was something to do with him starting to ask questions

I set the recorder on Tuesday and went to bed.

Watched it last night, and it finished half-way through the programme.

I forgot to adjust the clock to winter time, and of course it started recording early! :dash1:
It was okay, a bit of a montage of previous Hendrix 'Rockumentory's' and old interviews - some new footage and pictures a some great stuff from Eddie Kramer (but nothing new really, almost reciting his book about Hendrix TBH). Enjoyed watching it because Hendrix was such a great player.

Although Paul McCartney *may* have been responsible for some of Hendrix's career progression, he just comes across really badly about it.......

Unfortunately, I am a bit of a Hendrix junky, so, I have read and watched most of the stuff on him over the years. The film gives a good insight for those less obsessed!

I would like to see a film about Terry Kath (Played for Chicago/CTA); I love Kath's playing and Hendrix cited Kath as 'The best guitar player'....
Watched it. T'was class. What about Macca claiming responsibility for Hendrix being booked for Monterray Pop. What a nob!

Haven't watched it all yet........but I can very much imagine Macca being a nob about something like that.
I don't think anyone could lay claim to giving him a big break, he was always going to be heard no matter what.

I thought JH said that Rory Gallagher was the "Best Guitar Player" In that JH was asked what's it like to the best guitarist in the world and JH said "I don't know, you need to ask Rory Gallagher"....Of course I may have that completely wrong. :)

Enjoyed the documentary too!

Actually, right U.B.!

I actually read something about this the other day on a Rory forum.

Consensus was that Jimi's quote is in fact urban myth.....a great thing if he did say it, but no-one can seemingly prove any basis if he did. Interviews can't be traced, some said he said after Woodstock....

Either way, you've gotta love the fact that maybe he said it.... :)
