Someone asked me for a picture of my B.C.Rich Ironbird bass

I took it to a Luthier 3 YEARS ago, here are the pictures

Photo 1 is how it went there
Photo 2 is how I picked it up on Friday

If this is who I think it is, then I'm glad he never got back to me when I enquired about the possibility of him making me a 5-string version of a certain iconic bass of his...

If it's a guy in Devon, C E, then yes, be glad

What were you getting done?

THe truss rod nut was snapped clean off, so fretboard off job, new one installed, refret, and I was going to get him to strip the paint off, so it could be sent away for a respray

It's a real shame, I gave him a second chance, after he stuffed up the inlays, paint and removed the serial number on my Widow bass, I told him to get the Ironbird right, or I would kill him.

He is such a nice bloke, but he is too old and nice to hit, he's most likely at the end of his career now.

The bass is now in the hands of someone who says abot 4-6 weeks :-)

Back then, everything was handmade, routers were used for the large cavities, but they didn't have many routers, so if someone was doing cavities, then someone else would make pick up routes with a drill press

This bass was made in 1985, here is a 1983 factory tour, it should tell you all you need to know LOL

Ah its the old 'Lots of little holes to make a big hole' technique. Cool (until they coincide with the pickup mounting screws!!) That workshop did remind me a little of a rifle butt factory in 1940's Leningrad  but hey if it worked ;)

Ha ha ha, I know the vice president of B.C.Rich 1974 to 1985 and he said he was regularly taking routers to be repaired, he said at any one time only half of them would be in the shop LOL
