Happy Jack
I don't understand why Emerson Lake & Palmer and Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe sound like firms of lawyers, while Crosby Stills Nash & Young sound really really cool. Kinder
Quite a few indie bands had pretty strange names: Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, The Frank & Walters etc. I'm on thin ice though - one of my first bands was called Uncle Sam and his Gardening Kecks of Doom. Still have no idea how we came up with that rubbish, but it's a pretty good demonstration of why under-age drinking is not clever.
bassace
I am sad that I will go to my grave never having been in a band called Anal ****. I would have enjoyed sharing that with my aunties, and the vicar. I remember a sixties band called Hogsnort Rupert and his Good Good Band. And Hatfield and the North was pretty cool. jtb
'Public Foot the Roman' were a regular feature of the college circuit in the late 70s. Great name.

AndyBob09
I'm going to add my own band to this: Freddie Goes To Mercury. I'm personally not a fan and would love to shorten it to simply, "Freddie" but I'm afraid we live in a democratic society!
Fat Rich
Oasis, didn't suit the band at all.
borisbrain
I do remember Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel from the early 80s, complete with occasional airplay from John Peel... BB
Dropzone
We used to have a local band called TBC, they thought it was funny but didn't get many people turning up to gigs ;-)

thunderbird13
I suppose its marketing but a " bad " name will stick in peoples minds and therefore its a "good " name : Throbbing Gristle, Nurse with wound, cop shoot cop , I rememeber them all despite the fact that i can hardly remember what I had for breakfast ! thunderbird13
BTW whilst we are all sharing I was in a band once called BRAHMs - so named because they played Blues Rock And Heavy Metal

KingBollock
There was a brilliant local band in Coventry back in the early 90s called Dirtbox. I had their demo tape and it was ace, but some bastard nicked it.

AndyTheBassBison
what a thread! I love a great bad name - I don't think 'Concentration Champ' have been put forward yet. Mine was called 'Bat Scrap'. In our defence we were twelve at the time and thought it was very sophisticated.
