For sale my 1982 Matsomuko Westone Thunder 1 priced at £100. The bass has been played over its 30 year life and it has the scars to prove it. Some would call it reliced, others road worn, either way it is not perfect. It has dings and scrapes, to the body and neck, not deep but they are there. They don't affect playability which is really nice with a low action. The bass is all original except the control knobs which have been changed in the past to old radio controls. The brass nut and bridge is still there as is the original DiMarzio pick up which sounds awesome. The bass is heavy and made from Ash but that is what gives it the lovely deep and rich tone. There is some fret wear but it has years left in it. All in all a nice almost original example of a good Japanese bass which comes in an old battered but functional hard case.

I live near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire and you are welcome to come and try it out and have a cuppa. I am happy to ship at the buyers expense.

Thanks for looking

Mike (Pestie)

'Tis indeed. The Westone IA was my first proper bass when I was 16, and now at 46 I bought one recently off the forum for nostalgias sake.

Mind you, when I was a sprog I may as well have had a Wes I cos I never put a battery in for the active!

Haha!

A 1a was the first bass I gigged at my first ever gig! t'was a mates as I had no bass at the time, I really liked it, if one comes up on here I'll be v tempted!

Another mate has had a 1 for years and still uas it in it's case despite a few years of not playing...I asked if he'd part with it and he politely refused! A superb p type copy for v little cash!!

Very nice! Anyone know if these are definitely DiMarzios fitted to these basses as standard?

Probably a Gotoh copy of a Dimarzio. They had a name, like a 'hard puncher or something silly, but don't remember what.

Thank you all for the cracking comments above. Thanks Jezzaboy. The pickup is original and I was told they were DiMarzio but I can see that they may be a Japanese copy, They are still awesome and sound lovely!!

Thank you all again :D  :)

Don't worry, mate, she's settling in to her new home very well. Can't believe how many memories come flooding back when I play the Westone. Serial number makes it a 1982 model, same as the the first one I bought new. Taking this one to the pub jam tonight and leaving the Fender at home.
