MrT-Bass Posted March 5, 2014 Share Posted March 5, 2014 Jenzuwin, I've now had 3 Shukers built from scratch and each has been of superb sound, playability and build quality. IMO Jon is one of the best luthiers around and deserves to be recognised as such. I'd say get a spec together and speak to Jon about what you want. He is highly knowledgeable and will be able to guide you with your choices. Depending on the complexity, they can take a while to be completed but they are worth the wait. Post your spec if you go for a custom bass. (I recently had a custom set neck Jazz built by Jon. There's a build diary on this part of the forum if you wanted to check it out.) RichValentine Posted March 24, 2014 Author Share Posted March 24, 2014 I'm going black hardware, I want the focus to mainly be on the wood. I think I had specced this guitar in my head back during Bassworld days, I havent really had a bass for the last 5 years as I moved more into playing guitar but have always missed it. Trying to research amps again now to choose a decent lightweight set up, and downsizing my guitar setup as well. Jon is also currently building me a guitar, although that is a lot more traditional and based on a "Jazzmaster/Tele hybrid" Probably going to have a Shuker only rig until I can afford the Teye guitar I'm after.
