I plan to use a line6 pod for guitars and a gtb6 for bass and just use various percussion type doodads for drums. You could also use audacity, completely free, very lightweight, stupidly easy to use, and it's got all the essentials, eq, reverb and compressor. I did mine in GarageBand on the Mac & for the bass, I took a mono 1/4 jack that's wired to one channel of a stereo 1/8 jack, plugged the 1/4 end into the fx send & the other end into the line in on the Mac. [/quote] Don't knock yourself. That is a great track. I'm only listening on my laptop, but the mix sounded fine. I think you have far less work to do on yours than i have on mine.... I would have liked to have fixed issues with mine, but I don't think I will have time - so it will stand or fall, rough mix and exporting cockup included. I'm all up for alternative stuff and this certainly floats my boat. I think you're being hard on yourself as the mix sounds fine to me (I'm listening on headphones - no monitors at the moment). Maybe loosen up a wee bit on the compression; especially around the 2 minute mark when the distorted guitar kicks in (sounds like it's 'flattening' the other instruments a little). No big deal. Generally the mix sounds nicely wide and 'sparkly' (that's the best technical term I can offer!). Anyway, nice work like I said. I particularly like the percussive/glitchy elements during the first half of the track - reminds me of early Aphex Twin (Ambient Works, etc). I'm guessing Ponizovje is a reference to Metal Gear Solid 3?? (yes, I have access to Google… and yes, I'm a games geek). Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

[/quote] You want a mono (TS) 1/4 jack wired to just 1 side of a stereo (TRS) 1/8 jack (they're usually called 3.5mm jacks). Popping a mono jack into your computer might (though it might not) do some damage & popping a stereo 1/4 jack into your fx send or bass might not send anything if the sleeve gets no contact. [/quote] Nothing wrong with the mix through earphones to my ears. I like it, sounds very Tangerene Dream to me (that's a good thing). [/quote] Yeah, you can log in to SoundCloud (and Basschat, I think?) using a Facebook profile if you like - but I always prefer to set up a separate account as I'm no fan of Facebook either!
