cd_david
Is it my ears? the top end on this bass sounds so synthetic and plastic that i cant even listen to it. I really like open and articulate high frequency but this is just awful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WFrPr_40d8"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WFrPr_40d8

BigRedX
The idea that anyone can make any sort of useful judgement on how something sounds from a YouTube clip is frankly laughable.
Mr. Foxen
Listen the guys voice to get an idea of how the youtube vid reproduces stuff. Problem being everyone is used to recorded voice, but the artifacts are there if you listen.
cd_david
Watch it, listen to it on studio monitors, make reference to other basses and samples on the same media over a period of time, both known and new, formulate an opinion and then express it. and that is laughable in what way?
BigRedX
Because all the YouTube clips aren't recorded in the same room, with the same mics, the same post-processing at the same sample rate and frequency and then compressed using the same bit-rate and algorithm, before being uploaded to YouTube where it is compressed once again. Doesn't matter what you listen to a YouTube clip on. The source audio is inconsistent and has been subjected to multiple unsympathetic compression. cd_david
surely your experienced ears, after years of exposure to analogue and digital recordings, compressed digital media of various forms.and indepth expertise on the physics of sound and technology has given you an ability to make an assessment? We could discuss the psycho acoustic ability of the brain that enables us to hear familiar and unfamiliar sounds with potentailly, millions of variables in propogation and environment, yet still we are able to judge them accurately, but im sure youve considered that in your laughable assement of my ability to form an opinion Edited August 8, 2012 by cd_david
lettsguitars
I think the main idea behind the clip is to showcase the toneprint thing as opposed to the sandberg or amp for that matter. I did think the amp was extremely quiet for the purpose of the vid.
Commando Jack
I think the main idea behind the clip is to showcase the toneprint thing as opposed to the sandberg or amp for that matter. Would have been better with NFC though, then we wouldn't have had to listen to a dial up modem every time he changed patches.
very true - but given tc are in the business of trying to flog their amps on their sound quality you would think a little bit more effort and resource would have been invested to produce a better result other audio companys can manage it ok but it does require a bit of sound/video recording expertise and post production of the audio and video and given a bit of time with somebody who knows how the sound is going to compress to the final online video and a graphics wizz to spend a couple of hours tarting it up in adobe premiere it would be advertising budget well spent imo this video looks more like theyve give a camcorder to Mr Heep and told him to stick it on a tripod and go make a demo of the amp (if they even gave him any brief at all) - being someone with a modicum of experience within the world of media/advertising i would go so far as to suggest that this sort of shoddy presentation would more than likely harm their sales figures to all but the most stalwart of tc fans
Gust0o
The debate thus far, for those joining us at the bottom of the thread: BRX - Youtube clips are fluffing wonk for getting a true impression of a sound. David - Yeah, but you get a rough idea. Not mutually incompatible, I'd suggest, lads. I think they could have benefited from a more serious stab at the clip. barkin
---x--- To load new types of effects or the artist-made Bass TonePrints, simply hook up your amp to a computer via the included USB cable. Or even cooler: beam them directly from your smartphone straight into BH250 using the mindblowing TonePrint App for iOS and Android. ---x--- http://www.tcelectronic.com/bh250-toneprints.asp

barkin
That looks to be out of date. The "Available in Android Market" link (below the "Available on the App Store" link) at the top of that same page, goes to: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tcelectronic.toneprint You can also use a USB connection to a PC.
