My common-or-garden 2015 US Standard, which I picked up from FB marketplace about 6 months ago.

It has its fair share of dings, but you know what? It's absolutely great. Fit & finish is incredible, feels amazing, sounds amazing.

These things are a lot of bass for the money.

Without a doubt, one of the most incredible instruments I have ever seen, heard or played. The build quality and feel is well above many Custom Shop basses I've tried (IMO) and it just looks incredible too.

The stock preamp has been pulled in favor of a Bartolini one and it absolutely sings now.

Sadly I don't have a second one lol. But the chap I bought it from had both this IV and the V string version.

I did own a Victor Bailey sig acoustic bass years ago but completely different of course.

That looks superb. There’s just something about a Sunburst Jazz 👌

I recently picked up a new jazz bass...

MIJ active deluxe LTD. Beautiful to play and lovely tone. A nice companion to my Japanese Stingray. I like Japanese stuff, alright?

Skunkworks SVT Squier Wing

You've all seen it before but I thought it looked particularly good with a bit of light on and the Fender / Ampeg back drop..

I've got a pretty much identical 2015 American Std that I picked up from Bass Bros about three years ago for use in a Led Zep tribute.

As you say, you can't really knock it - sounds like it's supposed to, looks the part, plays well and very robust. A great bass for not an awful lot of money. I've also got a 09 Am Std in natural with a white scratchplate, which is a really nice bass that I bought for less than a grand...!

Looks nice - hope it sounds good too.

Not bad, thanks @nilorius, but not as good a set of tones that Ігор Одарюк, a talented Ukrainian bassist, managed to get out of the JO5 he tested. For sure it's partly in the fingers!

And speaking of our very own @Silky999, there is another Jazz in progress - I've reserved this lovely Walnut Jazz body and have one of Kiwi's first run Graphite necks coming for it. Should be quite the instrument when it's all put together.

I’ve seen this on a few jazzes now but still none the wiser… what’s the line from the bridge, to the bridge pickup for?

It's an earthing copper strip between the pickup cavity and the underside of the bridge. They had it on a lot of the early Jazzes to reduce 60 cycle hum from lighting circuits, etc.

Are they still grounded from the pots to under the bridge as well? Or was this an earlier method before they started going through the body from under the control plate?

That's about as far as my knowledge goes - probably better to ask a Fender historian. I'm sure there will be quite a few around here :) Basically, mine is a modern iteration of a 63/64,  built period correct, with the cloth wires, etc.
