Having come up with the usual "I am so happy" blah blah on my last porn thread I am not even going to suggest these are all 'keepers' (well the Pino definitely is), here is my latest bunch. 2005 Fender CS Pino Palladino, 1994/5 Fender American Vintage '62 Precision Reissue (with added J pickup), and Bacchus Jazz (see a few posts below for pic)

Bass Doc is making me an ebony unlined neck for the latter.

Separate porn thread! There's a link in my sig below :)

PS, bassmanady, the Pino is definitely not going anywhere although I am sorry you had the misfortune of hearing me play it - there's only so many times anyone can listen to the riff of 'The Magnificent Seven'!
Nice Clarky!

I've heard so many great things about the Pino, that I gotta try one of those (n/a in Helsinki stores). Might be a bad luck charm for my wallet.

I'll let my fingers decide. They usually reject the P neck.

How are the TI strings? Like rubber bands?

Cheers!

Hey Joona! In answer to your question about TIs, I used to love these strings but now prefer something a little less thin/flexible and with a bit more tension so I have swapped over for Pyramid Gold Flats

I can't resist seafoam green and wanted a good Jazz so I recently bought Chris Kelly's 1990s Bacchus 62 Jazz (which actually started life as sonic blue but has faded over the years). This was previously owned by BCer Artisan (who said it was the best Jazz he had ever played) and I can't believe how good it is. Definitely a cut above the Fender MIA Jazzes I have owned and on a par with the much pricier Custom Shop 64 Jazz I briefly owned. These are Chris' photos when it used to be wearing Rotosound Trubass strings (I think) - its now wearing DR Sunbeams and is a dream to play.

Errrm, just bought this beautiful Alembic Series 1 from lozbass (these are Loz' photos, hope thats OK but I have either a rubbish camera or am just bad at taking photos). Its a fully refurbished 1982 bass that really is as good as new, and weighs only 9.2 pounds.

Nice bass, just right for a punk band? :)

I guess you should now be known as "Stanley" Clarky :)

I don't think this one will be used with Kismetik! That's if the band ever gigs again ( been looking for a drummer since September and no joy at all)

I am proud of having used my old Alembic Spoiler at the Gosport Punkfest in August though :)

Hmmm.......I'm sure I recall someone posting that they weren't keen on "short-horn" or "wood finish" Alembics....... :)

Seriously mate, for me that's the best bass on the forum, no contest - what a great score. I acquired my '76 long-scale Series 1 last month after *coughs* years of GAS-ing for one, and they're simply astonishing basses. Im chuffed for Loz too, as he can now doubtless afford some other amazing bit of short-scale Alembic exotica.

If you ever sell, PLEASE check with me! :)

The Pino's not half bad either!

Well ye of little faith in me were absolutely right (yes, I know) - I didn't bond with the Alembic and have swiftly traded it on for this gorgeous Alleva-Coppolo LG4. I am only really happy with Fender-shaped basses and this - together with the Pino Precision - make one hell of a pairing.

no mate, went back to its original owner Chris Kelly when I got the Pino

My current roster is:

Alleva-Coppolo LG4
Fender '71 P/J (incoming)
Fender Tony Franklin fretless
Bacchus 62 Jazz

Fender Pino sold to make way for fretless and '71

What's the weight and balance like on the LG4 Clarky?

Weighs 9.74 pounds, balances perfectly AFAIC. It's a quite lovely thing, especially with the 1.625 width neck and the chocolate-y dalbergia negra rosewood board.

Thinking of making a trip to BassGear, WH?
