1. How much are the other band contributing to the hire of the hall ?
2. Are you sure it's the amp distorting or the speakers? Either way if you're getting unwanted distortion then your set up isn't big enough for your requirements.
3. New Model Army. Vengeance. vxqWdSOVI9U
4.

Only if you catch them off your bass....

I've been lucky so far..
5.
I wish I still had my Trace 4x10 150W combo, way more grunt than my current class D affair supposedly rated at 500W.
I was just about to mention Trace Elliot watts being louder than everyone else's.....Glad I kept my GP7 4 X 10 combo, apart from when I have to move it.
6. Basically suck it up and consider yourselves lucky worse damage wasn't done. That's what happens when playing for people who aren't used to getting drunk. Alternatively, find out where she lives, go visit, get drunk and fall over on her telly and see how she likes it.
7.
I'm a big Motorhead fan, but they can stick these up their arse as far as I'm concerned
You are my new Hero.
8. You have achieved nirvana. (small n....)
9. Tokai or Squier precisions for rehersing, 1978 Fender Precision for gigging, unless it's the sort of gig that involves leaving kit around for extended periods, then it's the Squier. Wouldn't be the first time I've had basses accidentally packed into other bands vans.
10. How many bass players does it take to change a light bulb? None, because we're not afraid of the dark.
11. I'd forgotten how heavy a 1978 Fender Precision is....
12. Time does indeed roll on...I've effectively missed a year of my life, but I'm alive and the whole experience has left me a lot more positive.
13. What did you get in the end, Timmo? My recent health issues have led me to think I might be better off with a smaller bass.
14.
I was just about to start this very thread myself! Im after a short scale leftie - theres four bassists in our band and I want a short scale with ultra thin strings for a more toppy end. Do Fender do a left handed jaguar does anyone know? I cant seem to find one. I notice Timmo that your link doesn't post to the UK, any UK stockists that you lot know of?
Hang on, 4 basses ? Is that Evil Blizzard?
15. For those that remember, just over a year ago Death tapped me on the shoulder and persuaded my bowels to try and kill me. Well, I am now surgically repaired and have just started playing again. It will be a long while before I've regained the stamina to play properly, but I'm back.....
16. Blood. Or a whiteboard marker pen is removeable.
17. Current ones are made in Indonesia
18.
I've built a custom 8x15 bass cab over the last 2 weeks. I'm very happy with it, but I'd like some advice on venting. it has six 2" holes in the front, anyone think I should add a few more? The speakers that I've ordered are celestion TF1525.
You are my new Hero.
19. 1980's Tokai Hard Puncher.Quality instrument.
20. Anyone using the word proactive will be met with a hard stare, at the very least, which may explain my lack of advancement into senior management.
21. I used to play upstrokes with a plectrum when I was in my Stephen Severin is my hero phase, and I still do it sometimes but not exclusively any more,360bpm tends to require up and down strokes..
22.
In support of tone is in your fingers and how you execute your bass line. The Chris Squire example was very good. Here's another, if you picked up Larry Grahams bass played through his rig and started slapping, plucking and popping do you really think you would sound like Larry Graham. I'm sure Larry is doing things with his fingers I haven't mastered or even know how to do. Blue
If Larry Graham played my bass through my amp, would he sound like me?
23. Oh, and a touch of room ambience reverb and a whopping great compressor. .
