Hi fellow Basschatters, I've made this mistake before and you would think i would've learned my lesson by now, but no, i did it again... I had serious G.A.S. for the 4 string version of this bass for a while now, so as soon as i had the money to pay for it i placed my order for a brand new FGN neo classic 70's JB4, Unfortunately it turned out the store's site was out of date and none of the EU importers had the 4 string version in stock, disappointed as i was i let myself be convinced by the store to buy the 5 string version instead as this was still available and as you can probably already imagine i love this bass to bits as it has everything that i'd look for in a bass, but i'm really struggling to get along with the B-string (and especially the tighter string spacing at the nut is making it hard for me to slap) so now i wish it had only four strings, that's why i'm already considering to trade this for a similar 4 string after only 2 weeks of owning it as i'm afraid i will never completely get used to the string spacing on this 5 string beauty. I must say that although.i'm having trouble adapting to the string spacing, she's a real lovely player and if i manage to play her right she sounds superb and she puts out a massive amount of low end for a passive jazz bass. Everything on this bass looks like it has been put together with an amazing eye for detail and the quality, craftsmanship and looks easily surpass any of the Fender jazz's i've ever had the chance to put my hands on. Check it out if you're looking for a good 5 string jazz, these are still pretty rare in Europe and i'm sure these will only go up in value once FGN starts making a name for itself. As i said before, the normal price is 1430£ and this one is just 2weeks old, has only been played for a couple of hours and just had a set-up with fresh DR Sunbeams, so i think at 950£ (o.n.o.) this is one hell of a bargain for someone! Insured shipping to the U.K. is included in the price. As to trades: just let me know what you've got to offer and we'll see where we go from there. Picture time! 2. double post please delete
3. Sold to Prosebass,thanks Paul!
4.
Where are you living now?
Hi, i'm based in Belgium. Shipping to U.K. mainland is included in the price, shipping to Ireland is 20£ extra.
5. BUMP! Looking to sell this quick now as i have my eye on a nice FGN jazz bass that's for sale in a local store, so i'm hoping this sell this before next wednesday, otherwise i will trade this in at the store when i plan to buy my new bass. Played her again yesterday and the new set-up is superb! Low action, straight neck, superb playability, BIG SOUND! I've played several Warwicks in the past, including 2 doublebucks like this one and all in all the Baphomet sounds the same, but feels more solid and easier to set-up due to the better bridge and tuners and she looks a lot better too... she's definitely a bargain for someone!
6. PRICEDROP BUMP, NOW 399 incl. U.K. SHIPMENT! Really need to shift this now as this doesn't get enough use and i'm moving out of my apprtment next week and would like to clean out the house before i start packing. Quick sale prefered , trade only with passive jazzes with quality hardware (can ad cash to the trade) or an interface/external soundcard + cash my way.
7. Hi, i'm very intrested in this, does it come with a dustcover or gigbag? do you have the fitting battery for it? (i plan to use it for some street performances next summer) How's the line out? good sound, no crackle? does the line out have a volume control or is it a fixed volume? kind regards, Donovan
8. Hi, would you take this as a (partial) trade? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/224891-fsft-mayones-fame-baphomet-mm-4-string-satin-black-now-with-uk-shipping-incl/
9. PM'd regarding trade.
10.
If the sound is anything similar to Mayones BE4, which looks very similar, then this is great value for the money
Hi bud, thanks for the comment, they're very similar basses indeed,it's exactly the same build as the Mayones, the only difference is that this bass has an ash body and MEC MM-style humbuckers instead of the MEC jazz pu's that are on most of the BE series. All in all a very growly, deep sounding bass with lots of tonal options ( a bit too much options for my taste , but that's personal preference ofcourse.. ). Ah, and due to the relatively small body size she's very lightweight as well, weighing in at just under 3.8kg on the bathroom scales. Shipping to U.K. mainland now included!.
11.
I Have a factory new Dean 5 Bass for trade
Hi bkman, Thanks for the offer, but i'm looking for something with a dual pick up configuration (and pref. passive) i'm afraid.
12. EDIT: NEW PRICEDROP DUE TO PENDING MOVE, NOW 395£ INCLUDING SHIPMENT! Hi, as i'm looking for a more vintage looking/sounding instrument i'm offering Fame Baphomet Gothic MM up for trade/sale. These are real cracking basses handmade in the Mayones factory in Poland and offer amazing craftsmanship and build quality for the money. (Warwick eat your heart out!) This one is played only a couple of times as i bought it in an impulse thinking i needed a more modern sounding instrument in my arsenal, but after some more A/B'ing i still prefer the sound of my passive jazz for most of the stuff i play, so that's why i'd now like to move this on or possibly trade this beauty for a good passive Jazz. (can ad cash for the right jazz) These basses cost around 900Euros new and this one still looks like new & just had a pro set-up with some brand new DR Sunbeams (45-105's) , the fretboard has been cleaned with lemon oil, the body had an extra coat of wax to protect the finish, the intonation is spot on, the battery has been changed and all the electronics have been looked over. I've spend around 50£ for the set-up at my local luthier and another 25£ for the strings, and keeping in mind how little it has been used i'd value this around 450£ in value. [s]Price is 450£ + shipping costs[/s] => NOW SOLD! The bass also comes with a basic but sturdy Stagg gigbag. I also have a fitting box and lots of packing materials to ensure safe shipping. . 13. oh my... that's gorgious!
14. Hi bud, I'm very tempted by this, how is the neck profile compared to a "standard jazz neck" ? And i would be very intrested to know/hear how it sounds in passive mode as well...
15.
Sept 20th? wow that's a long time away!
What i meant was DECEMBER 20th ofcourse, sorry for the misunderstanding...
16. ooh lovely, i still regret selling mine, i miss that growly tone you can only get from a warwick... if you still have this by september 20th i'll take her of your hands if you like.
17. Hi Martyn, do you kind what brand of pickups that are in there? kind regards, Donovan
18. Hi bud, i'm on the lookout for a good rocker, so i might be intrested in this, do you still have the Wizard pick-up's?
19. Love this! If this is still around when my Farida Jazz sells i'm definitely intrested. just don't understand why everybody puts those useless, ugly '51 style thumbrests on their P-basses...
20. Darn, this would be the perfect rock-monster for my new stoner-rock band! Unfortunately i don't have any spare cash lying around at the moment or i would buy this in an instant. Could i tempt you in a trade with my Farida Jazz & Ashdown combo by any chance? The prices would match up nicely..
21. Hi, up for grabs is my Ashdown Five15 combo, it's a great piece of kit that has very simple controls (not to many bells and whistles, just good clean tone wich i personally prefer) , but still has a very musical sounding EQ and lots of warmth in it's sound compared to similar priced 15" combo's. With it's 22kg. it's still a lightweight for a 15" combo and that combined with it's compact size, makes it a very handy combo to take along with you wherever you go. Allright, time for some pictures!
22. Hi, I've recently bought this here on BC and it is definitely the best buy i've ever made considering the sound and quality you get for the money. The bass really surprised me with it's build quality and tone & it has one of the most comfortable and easy to play jazz-necks i've ever encountered. Upgrades are: - EMG BTC Control preamp http://www.guitarand...ved=0CCgQ-RIwAg - BB404 locking high-mass bridge - Closed pickup covers - Frets have been leveled and the bass had a pro set-up - Control layout has been changed to add a 3-way pickup selector switch along with the knobs of Master Volume, Stacked bass/treble cut&boost. The bass is in very good condition, no technical issues, straight neck, plenty of life in the frets. She is currently set up with 35-90 Rotosound Funkmaster strings with a medium to low action, intonation is spot on. except for a small dent in the paint near the bridge (less than a mm wide& hardly noticeable!) the bass looks mint. She also has a beautifull engraved backplate that's not shown in the picture. (I'd take some pictures, but my digital camera died on me :s) Here's a video of our very own "Allthumbs" reviewing the Farida (video was made before the upgrades were done!): She plays and sounds superb, only reason i'm letting her go is that i really need a P-bass for the heavy rock band that i joined last month. The bass comes with a spanking new Stagg gigbag and i also have a fitting box and package materials available to ensure safe shipping. Cash price: 250£ (incl. U.K. shipment) => NOW SOLD! Trade value: 275£
23. Just bought Scot's old Farida FJB-6 jazzbass from Martyn, bass arrived wel packed and in near mint condition,Martyn even threw in a free gigbag as the bass had to be shipped overseas, all in all a great deal and a top bloke to deal with, i couldn't be happier with my purchase. Thanks Martyn! Kind regards from Belgium, Donovan.
24. uhm... I feel very tempted to offer you the (brand new, fully boxed) yamaha THR10C that i bought on a whim last month. lovely piece of kit, great recording tool and such, but i don't see myself using it in the long run, so now i'm looking to sell/trade it while it's still new and i could use a good combo so if you're intrested... i live in Belgium tho, so shipping this heavy beast might be a little to expensive to make it a good deal i think?
25. Hi bud, i did a quick search on my laptop, but i can't seem to find any sounclips of the Roscoe at the moment, but i did find this nice vid of "Yanni" on youtube where he is playing the 6 string version of my bass. I'm sure you will find lots more nice demo vid's if you have look on youtube, these are very versatile basses that can go from slap to jazz with a flick of the switch, it always amazed me how this bass kept inspiring me to explore new styles and techniques. Here's one of Yanni's youtube vid's wehere he's using the century std 6 (hope he doesn't mind me posting this) : http://youtu.be/P1Jvdd5veJw You might want to take a look at "Damien Langkamer's" youtube channel as well, his Roscoe is a bit different from mine ofcourse, but the hardware and electronics are all the same and his videos where the first thing that got me hooked on the Roscoe sound. http://youtu.be/NqjWpvbRPak
