Hi fellow BC'ers, due to the fact that the band i was playing is now "on hold" untill further notice and also because i need some money to fund other dreams i'm selling my beloved Roscoe Century std. This is the third Roscoe i've owned (i also had a 4 string Century std. and a fretless 6 string Century std.) and i.m.o. it is also the best Roscoe i've owned. I don't know what it is about these 5 string necks on a Roscoe, but they feel so perfect that you don't want anything else anymore once you've tried this! This bass is no doubt the fastest, most easy to play and most inspiring instrument i've ever played (i've been totally G.A.S. free since i bought this!!) and she will surely be missed, but as i'm going on a long trip in the nearby future and i can't possibly take all my gear with me i'm now looking for a new home for this amazing instrument. here's the spec. sheet: •Roscoe Century Standard 5 (+ optional black hardware) • Swamp ash body • Fire orange finish with black grain highlights • Three piece Select Maple Neck • Exclusive graphite and steel reinforced precision adjustable neck • Maple fingerboard • 35" Scale - 24 fret - 16" fingerboard radius, • Hand carved Graphtec Nut • Bartolini CB Pickups in the Roscoe positions • Bartolini 3-band pre amp with push/pull mid freq shift (250hz/800hz) • Black finish Hipshot B style bridge with 18.3mm string spacing and Ultralight tuners • Weight - 3.7kg/8lb 2oz The bass is in used but good condition, has a few small dents here an there, but nothing you'd notice with the naked eye except for maybe the three small dents on the back (see picture) caused by an idiot g**t*rist that threw his spare cable on there after our last gig. Anyway, she still looks beautifull and there's no noticable damage whatsoever except for the 3 miniscule dents on the back of the body. The bass has been recently set-up with a fresh set of DR Sunbeams and i'll throw in a (slightly used) spare set of Overwater Nickels as well. I'll also throw in a brand new heavily padded leather gigbag to keep her save while you're "on the road" (this is also shown in the pictures). I'm looking for 1100GBP for this and this will include insured shipping to anywhere in the U.K. and other neighbouring countries (i'm based in Belgium). => THIS IS NOW SOLD AND ON IT'S WAY TO GREECE! The bass will be safely packed inside the thick leather gigbag that comes with it and a fitting cardboard box (if you have any doubts about the safety of the packaging then please check my feedback as i have a lot of expierience shipping gear all over the world and it always arrived safe and sound at it's delivery adress!) No trades this time please as i've already sold all my other gear (this is the last one to go and also the most painful to let go of..) as i can't take any gear with me while i'm travelling, UNLESS you have a cheap acoustic g**t*ar that i can take with me while travelling and/or a compact loopstation of some sort that you can offer as a partial trade. I've added some pictures & you can find more pictures here: https://plus.google....8769?banner=pwa Feel free to ask if you have anymore questions. kind regards, Don

string advice for Roscoe 5string (35")?
Bassdude BE replied to Bassdude BE's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks for all the great advice, but i think i needed something with a bit more flex and a longer lifespan, so i did some research of my own and ordered me a set of DR Sunbeams instead. -
Hi fellow BC'ers, After playing Thomastik flats for a few months (on my 4string Roscoe) i wanted to go back to roundwounds for my new (bought here on BC) 5 string Roscoe, mostly because i like a little slap from time to time, but also because i felt the tension on both the A and G string was too low to work with my (sometimes a little fast and agressive) playing style. The bass came to me from "eubassix" (top bloke btw! ) with a set of 40-120 or 45-125 roundwounds with the purple-gold-red-black- green coloured ball ends and allthough i'm still not sure what brand/gauge they are, they sound pretty good. (Ernie ball slinky's maybe?) Problem is these strings have a tapered end that starts halfway the nut on some of the strings (it's a 35" scale) which results in a "too low action & fretbuzz" on some of the strings (especially the E string has this problem). The set-up on the bass is good, action is perfect ,except for this little problem, so now i'm looking for some advice from more experienced 35" Roscoe players that now which strings fit best/sound best on the Roscoe 5'ers. I'm not a fan of steel strings and/or "clanck" and have always preferred medium-low tension nickel roundwounds, i loved the tone of the Thomastik flats a lot as well, but i didn't like the fact that they didn't sound good when slapping and the low tension on the A and G string. Would consider other flats that have a decent slap/fast fingerstyle-sound but most of them that i know of that have these qualities also have a high string tension and that high string tension tends to slow me down making it almost impossible to play most of the music i like to play most of the time. I try to play anything from slap, funk to tech-metal to blues/rock and even some jazz (at least i try.. ) almost every day and i have a gig at a talent show next month where i will have to be covering almost all of these different styles, so i'm looking for a string that can do all of this and sound good while doing this. conclusion: I'm looking to find versatility, playability ,long life and great tone in one package and that's not an easy task, therefore, any advice would be greatly appreciated! added some pic's of my precious for the Roscoe fans here on BC...
