1. Analogman Clone Chorus. If you want something cheaper, the Danelectro Coolcat is surprisingly nice. I used to have the 9V version but apparently the discontinued 18V version is even sweeter. I'd have kept it but it started to die with intermittent operation. I use an Analogman Clone Chorus which is a boutique clone of the original EHX Small Clone. Feels solid as a brick and unlike the EHX Small Clone has both rate and depth knobs. Mine also has a 3-way toggle switch giving three slightly different choruses (normal, deep (bassy) and thin). They're a bit pricey but they have a host of different options available depending on your needs
2.
I think the SPB3 is also a great PUP to have on a fretless Precision, as it really does accentuate the harmonics.
I'm not too sure. I've got a fretless pbass and I've had an SPB3 in it for a long time now. I always find that I have to turn the volume down ALOT and the bass of it is generally far too boomy. I also find that the lack of mids gives a great double bass sound, but I wish I had something with more mids and less volume. Been toying with the idea of swapping it for an SPB1 for about a year, but I haven't had the time or money to do so.
3.
if your new to effects, its the only way
I dunno, I did a s**t-load of research and went the single route from scratch... worked out cost effective for me because I knew exactly what I wanted without having to buy a multi-unit although for most the multi path is probably the best.
4.
With added ashtrays which I am sure most of you will hate
I LOVE Fenders with ashtrays I had some on my old '62RI Jazz: I let her go because she wasn't getting played alot... shame cause I really loved how she looked
5. Fresh strings, perhaps a compressor set to a slight boost on gain, or a compressor and EQ pedal to tweek the sound to your tastes.
6. Same here. When I had problems before, they were very quick in responding to my enquiries and they've given my ABM500evoII a tidy up twice (once when it started to crackle intermitently and I can't remember the other reason). Shame the DI on the front doesn't work anymore though, it certainly feels cheeky asking them to fix it for a third time lol.
7. I'd kill for a CT, being a Primus nut and all, but being a student (who can hardly afford a fresh set of strings) I can't see myself ever owning a CT Good luck with the sale and my respect to whoever ends up owning this piece of art.

Must haves

Tuner and compression are the 2 must haves IMHO. However, if you're gonna be playing rock and pop, you may want to add a touch of chorus for some songs and perhaps a small bit of grit for others. It's all personal preference at the end of the day. Remember to serve the music instead of the pedals
9.
If you want your organic signal being broken down into lots of little 0s and 1s before being rebuilt into an approximation of your original signal, go for one of the boss multieffects. If you want your signal to be your signal, not what a computer thinks is your signal, go all analog stompboxes.
+1
10. Have a bump on mate... seriously though, that jazz bass is the first bass in a long time that has literally made my jaw hang open! Good luck with selling those two sexy basses mate!
11. Right guys, this bass is up for sale again... I've recently had GAS for a Spector Euro LX so I could really use the money toward that. Fender MIJ '62 reissue Jazz Bass with Alder body, vintage US pups, rosewood fretboard and ashtrays. I originally bought this bass as a back up to take with me for travelling and university... however it became surplus to requirements and has only been gigged once with about 10 hours of play time. It's mint and the fact that it's sitting in it's case not being played is really doing my head in lol. Here's pics from not long after I got it: And a pic after I put on a pearloid pickguard and the ashtrays: It has one very small mark (like a scratch) on the side about the length of a little toenail that was there when I got it. You can't see it unless you look for it... I did take a photo but didn't come out at all. The bass comes with a white 3ply pickguard (stock), a 3rd party pearloid pickguard, the ashtrays and a Fender gigbag. Looking for offers of around £300. Willing to personally deliver or meet half-way if your not too far away. Thanks for looking! BOB
12. Bloody hell Tom that is a strange beast. Where did you find that then?
13. tbh, I got my Deep Impact for £195 and sold it for £195 to Higgie... very cool pedal, and some nice sounds out of it, but the whole vibe of it was a bit too digital and cheesy for my liking.
14. If i understand correctly, the DT10-BK has blue and white LEDs, and the BR has green and red LEDs
15. Two words for that... F***ING METAL!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D Looks amazing, and it's cool to hear you finally got what you wanted after years... I bet that was a satisfying feeling
16. i want this bass.... badly I assume a MIJ Jazz bass and a couple hundred quid's out the question?
17. I normally use pedals, but because I'm giving my board an overhaul, I've been playing straight through my rig for a while.
18. if you can afford it, i'd go for an ULTRON!!!! xD
19. I will say, I always thought Sandbergs looked a bit funny, but I tried one recently and I hate to admit it, the bass played nicer (and sounded nicer) than my US Deluxe P-bass. If I had the cash, I'd get one of these bad boys
20. Hey guys, I recently moved to Cardiff and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good luthier/guitar tech in the area? (Cardiff, Newport etc). Cheers! BOB
21. i'm gonna say wat's already been said, but that is a GORGEOUS bass and an even nicer price for it! I assure you, if I wasn't right handed and could perhaps make fast money from medical testing, this bass would be mine in a second Good luck with the sale mate!
22. so sorely tempted by this but i know in my heart i wouldn't have alot of time to give this bass the attention it deserves... and i'm a student living off of pasta and beans lol good luck with the sale mate, she's a beauty!
23. Not sure if this counts, but I was in a music store in Reading a few days ago and I saw a '50s styled Fender Pbass (classic series, mexican made) in Fiesta Red, a gold anodized pickguard and a maple fretboard... i thought the gold pickguard was disgusting, but I decided to give it a bash because something about it spoke to me. Plugged in and WOW... i've played mexican Fenders before but this one had that special something about it that made me want to trade my car in and get another student loan on the spot.
24. Rock bass player who plays 4 and 5 strings and a tiny bit of fretless on the side. Played for about 6 years, my tone is pretty rock (very slightly overdriven scooped EQ). Use fingers over a pick but I can play with a pick if required (I was forced into using a pick for a recording recently ¬_¬`). I use effects lightly (only use chorus once per set for a few parts and overdrive for a few songs). I can slap, but I only like to when there's a place for it. Main influences: Les Claypool, Geddy Lee, Mike Todd... I like to put in chords and bass lines that complement the main melody of the song and lines that sometimes play off the guitar parts. My tone does get mixed up a bit because I sometimes go for a completely clean scooped eq when using my 5 string and sometimes a more mid heavy eq with overdrive when using my Rickenbacker...all depends on my mood really lol.
