I was just on another thread where somebody had wrote that nobody apart from bassists would know the name of anyone who played bass. I put a lot of people would know who Paul McCartney was/is. This got me thinking, what do bass players think of him as a bassist. To be honest over the years i've very rarely met any bassists who talk about him. Obviously his playing is overshadowed by his songwriting. To start things off i've thought about it and i think he's a pretty cool bass player. He may not be thunderous or groovy and widdly, but he's solid, melodic and musical. A couple of examples are the bassline to Something and how he plays the bassline in Penny Lane. Sometimes staccato, sometimes legato. Simple but effective! What do you Think? Do you Care?

i think as they are called bass guitars, they are guitars. I don't think it matters what family it derives from. Horse sh*t is different and comes from a different animal than dogshit. At the end of the day it's all sh*t!

When I was at college in the late 90's. There was a 73 P bass just lying around battered up with flatwound strings on that hadn't been changed in years. And it still sounded pretty mint!

i recently bought said bass off 6string bassist. The bass was as good as he said its was. Really it was a steal. Kevin was helpful and honest throughout. he even gave me a lift to and from the train station. if he sells anything else you can take him at his word. A True gent!

I've got £400 to spare. (rare as rockin horse sh*t). I,ve decided to purchase a fretless if possible as i don't have one and haven't played on one for about 12 yrs. does anyone know of a half decent or better fretless bass that i can buy brand new for around £350 to £400? thanks a lot
