1. Drums- Terry Bozzio Bass- Jaco Pastorius Guitars- Jimmy Page/Steve Vai Organ/Keyboards- Jon Lord Vocals- Freddie Mercury Think this band would Rock and be a little extravagant, but smart enough to find ther own place. Oh yeah and extremely powerful but with good tunes.
 2.
Klaus Meine - Vocals Izzy Stradlin - Guitar JJ Burnel - Bass Keith Moon - Drums Probably wouldn't go all that well together, but I love all their styles. Plus it'd be great to see a resurrected, zombie Keith Moon play the drums
Izzy bit is genius
 3.
Hak, hak, hak, bluewwww. I haven't ate carrots for days....and there they are!
You'd think he'd be able to play in time after all these years
 4. I think Chickenfoot are horrific. This may be due to being a massive Van Halen fan of which Hagar ruined. It just sounds like them trying to outdo VH, it seems false. I've only heard Vultures once. It sounded alright!
 5. Get Stoned! Absorb more music! By osmosis!
 6. Smooth and bad ass
 7. Its genius! no matter how many times you see it.
 8. Its mad how this place buggers off on tangents. this thread is about pictures and somehow how gets to Homophobia. There are some hormones exploding round here!
 9.
Hooky was, and remains, a HUGE influence on me. His work on Joy Division's "Atmosphere", for example, is simply definitive. I can't imagine a better line for that song. I had to work out the bassline for U2's "All I Want Is You" last week - and pretty damn decent it is too. Some nice improvised bits, nothing overstated. Just right I would say. I think many understimate the talent of bass players like those I mention above; to survive in a group for so long in a very tough business they must be doing something right.
"I tell you folks It's harder than it looks It's a long way to the top If you wanna rock 'n' roll"
Some of my proudest moments in bass playing have also been the simplest. Jennifer
i agree with that (about Clayton). Tho Clayton ain't the best i think some of his basslines are pretty cool. 'New Years day', Mysterious ways, Bullet the blue sky. also with The Edge tossing it off with all is 'clever guitar bits. He had to keep the bass simple. Like Mike Anthony in Van Halen, he didn't have much choice but to pedal
 10.
Not even the music
Exactly
 11.
He has shagged a lot of women, to be fair. They're obviously not interested in his playing.
Not one aspect of kiss was about the music
 12.
+ 1 I can't stand Hooky.... he'd be my choice
I agree hooky. what a nob! Why didn't he just buy a guitar
 13. I Think Gibson and Fender have more class than other guitars as they are original. They are like The Beatles and The Stones. Everything that came after was because of them. I don't think we'll ever get to the point where say an old vintage Ibanez or Jackson, whatever, will be viewed with the nostalgia and awe that is given to Fender or Gibson.
 14. Come on Come over-Jaco Pastorius
 15. I know its well expensive, but no-one has said Pro tools. Its awesome. Kicks the others ass. I used logic at Uni, Cubase at college and in various studios. They were essentially the same thing. Used Pro tools the last year or so in studio's. Infinitely better
 16.
Continuing one of the best threads on Basschat, here's a funky groove for Saturday afternoon. Featuring M King on bass and the ridiculously tight Charlie Morgan on drums (...well, he never bought me a drink, anyway!! ) I always liked how the chord sequence works in this one too. Nik Kershaw - Easy
Wasn't kershaw a proper jazz fusion musician before becoming a pop star. That would explain chords. Think he was also a touring guitarist for Elton John at one point. Top tune this tho
 17.
That depends on if you are in a pro-band or a band of mates doing it for fun. Sacking a mate is a difficult thing to do. There have been several threads here asking how to do it. Do we - Disband and form again - sent a text - etc... This sort of thead doesn't seem to come up in the more 'american' Bassplayer forum. It's definitely an English thing. In general we're more reserved and afraid of upsetting people's feelings. (Unless you're from Yorkshire that is )
That must be it. Whilst reading your post i thought 'bollocks, it makes no odds if someone is a friend or not. If they don't cut it then get someone who will'. I've sacked friends from bands and in the past i used to run pubs for a couple of years and and sacked friends from that to. Then i read the unless your from Yorkshire bit....which i am!
 18. Some fantastic handbags on here!
 19. I currently have a Marshall head, Peavey speakers Bass rig. However, just joined a covers band doing pub circuit. Don't need anything that loud or cumbersome to lug about. So i'm in the market for a combo that will have enough power to sound strong in that setting. I have about £300 to spend. Anyone know of anything decent new or second hand. Cheers!
 20. I was 14. Gigged at school in dinner time to about 800 kids. Can't remember exactly what was first tune. Was bricking it. It was either 'Walkin By Myself' By Gary Moore. Or it was 'There's Only One Way To Rock' by Sammy Hagar/Van Halen. Either way 100% Cheese!
 21.
Personally, I feel that one of the main issues in terms of standards in British musicians (of all genres) is their unwillingness to challange medicority in their peers. If a musician is not up to it, they should be told and asked to make a choice; practice/improve or get off the bandstand. No aggression, no bull, just a straight 'are you up to the job? Yes/No? Stay/Go. Competence is a requirement. If you haven't got it, give the gig to someone who has. Dam straight! My missus has been depping (singing) with a decent soul band but the alto sax player's instrument is old enough for a bus pass and won't stay in tune. When they asked what I thought I mentioned this and it was like they weren't expecting any criticism at all! Why do we side step around the issues all the time? Tell your guy hit it or be hit!
This is quite a sweeping statement! Do you have foreign evidence to back up and compare this with (perhaps its all the world). How do you know this is a problem with all genres all over the country. In the majority of bands i've been in we've always pushed to improve each other or just sack bad uns.
 22.
The singer in my band also does some acoustic stuff and I like remixing/re-imagining songs. Rough mix of the Dibnah version of her song Beautifully Broken (see http://www.myspace.com/leahruthmusic for original!) now up on my myspace http://www.myspace.com/dreaddibnah Still got some tweaks to do but always good for some input before it's finally finished, fire away!
Yeah, its alright. The first one sounds like kayleigh by marilion meets Portishead. the second one like portishead and early goldfrapp. Not massively my scene so maybe don't know what i'm talking about. Like the ambience more than the songs and her voice is a little ordinary. But was nice to listen to.
 23. Sack Him!
 24.
This one knows about mids. Realised the mid knob is like another volume control.
Ha ha. Bet that's heaven when a guitarists finds that out.' Yes!! MORE VOLUME!!!!!!...............It goes up to 11'
 25. i tend to just drive it myself. I just think whoever is most confident in the band should set it and drive it, whoever that may be.
