1.
Yep... I'm definitely getting old...
Timothy Spall?
2.
Thanks to everyone that helped! I managed to play both today in a music shop & I'm definitely reassured that my initial decision for a Stingray was the right one
Go for either the HS or HH version of the Stingray. Gives you the Stingray feel, tone and look but also gives you loads more versatility.
3. I can't believe the mis-matching of the original woodgrain from one of Fenders AVRI range. They should be ashamed of themselves. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
4. Now withdrawn. I had this up for sale to help with some hefty expenses earlier this year. These are all now sorted so my 25th doesn't need to go anywhere This makes me happy Thanks for all your interest folks.
5. Wouldn't it be funny if somebody bought an extra ticket to move on at a profit and nobody bought it. That's the only way that this annoying practice will stop. I was after a couple of Foo Fighters tickets for Manchester next summer. Went on line at the designated time and got them. I could have bought 4, sold two on for twice the price and gone to the concert for no cost to me but IT'S WRONG!!! Give another fan the opportunity to buy tickets to see them at face value. Unfortunately, the next person along may have bought more than he/she needed to sell but that is on their conscience not mine. Unless people stop buying them from the (legal & illegal) touts, this corrupt industry will continue to flourish. It's in our hands people. Don't support them.
6.
Anyway im glad the bass is sounding good now, what about a few pics eh ?
Yep - pics please - as soon as you like Also could you please change the thread title to MusicMan sounding too bright Glad you got it sorted out.
7. This one's easy. You either sell the lot and split the proceeds equally (between the 4 of you that paid in in the first place) or your guitarist 'mate' buys you all out lock stock and barrel. Anything he doesn't want he will have to go through the agro of selling himself. Keep it straight forward. This is a business transaction now and if it doesn't work for you don't do it.
8.
Hiss is only there when I crank up the highs on the eq. Passive mode switches the eq off. This MM takes two batteries as it turns out. Have replaced one, need to go buy another one today.
That is good news - indicates the batteries are duff I'm sure all will be well when you have replaced them both. You have bought yourself a fine bass there sir - when you've changed batteries & strings and you're happy please post pics. It's a shame the shine has been taken off your purchase initially but i'm sure that a huge grin will be on your face when you next plug in.
9. Is the hiss still there when it's in passive mode?
10. For live use you will need a wired or wireless headphone amp/transmitter-receiver. All the instruments will need to be fed into the desk then you use auxiliary sends to get the desk signal out to your headphone amp then to your ears. There is a long thread in the accessories section on here called in ear monitors - help needed. Have a read. Can't post a link coz i'm on my phone.
11.
Smurfette is kinda cute though
Now that's weird!
12.
13. Another big +1 for the sx300's. We use these as wedge monitors. Loud, punchy with great clarity and bags of headroom. You really can't go wrong with these. We use sxa360's and sba760's for FOH. Fantastic rig. The sx300's in the for sale section for £400 for the pair looks to be ideal for you (I'm in no way associated with the seller).
14. It may be worth contacting Strings and Things and tell them you want to order a Stingray. Give them your options and leave them to it. I'm sure EB wouldn't blink an eye at an order coming through their UK distributer. What you're looking for isn't custom - rather a set of existing parts/colour options.
15. That example in Bass Direct looks like one of the PDN guilded limited edition classic basses that they brought out a couple of years ago. Active/passive built in. Nice looking bass and a good price as well. See, not helpful at all!
16. What are the specific set of options that you want? I won't be able to offer any helpful advice - just interested/being nosey.
17.
I'm all about the jazz bass these days!
I used to be all about the Jazz myself until very recently. Got the opportunity to try out a Stingray HH 4 string in a shop and it blew me away. It did EVERYTHING I want a bass to do (Stingray tone for the agressive stuff we do (back pickup), Jazz tone from both single coil options (albeit with the Musicman DNA in there) and a precision tone from the front pickup. VERY versatile bass, great build quality, looks right and feels right. I bought it then sold my 2012 USA Jazz and 2009 USA Jazz Deluxe to pay for it and couldn't be happier. The Jazzes were great basses but the Stingray HH just ticks every box for me. Even the G string is well balanced
18.
Im saying nothing......
Don't think Jazz was an option Pete 😄
19. Shame they've gone for the same old classic design. Boring. Why don't they try something new blah blah blah
20. I was born in 1964 and I have a significant birthday coming up YOB Fender Jazz it is for me please if anyone feels like treating me? I've been dropping hints with the current Mrs Zed however I fear that all my effort are falling on deaf ears. Looks like t could be Sonic Highways by the Foos then!
21.
Pity you're not open to trades... Beautiful!
Thanks Juliusmonk. I may consider a part trade plus cash my way for a USA Jazz (regret selling mine) or maybe even a R*ck (I hope this is allowed? if not mods please remove). A straight sale however would be preferred.
22. I didn't notice the weight on mine as they are so well balanced and just 'fit' right. I wouldn't let 5kg put anyone off. Sounds heavy but doesn't feel heavy.
