Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
mr zed replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
These look great - if I didn't already have a Stageclix I'd be seriously considering one of these. -
Now sold - thank you. Soundcraft Spirit Folio 4 mixing desk for sale. This is a great desk for multitrack recording or live work and has 16 channels. Overall condition I would class as 'used' but it has been well looked after and everything functions perfectly. Comes complete with power supply and a wooden flightcase that is as heavy as a ships anchor and has seen better days - it has done a great job of keeping the desk in great condition though. Collection only please from Bolton Lancs. A compact desk aimed squarely at the multitrack user, the Folio 4 offers 12 mono mic/line channels and four further stereo line channels, five aux sends and four sets of stereo returns, plus four output groups which may be used as subgroups. EQ on the 12 mono channels is 3-band with a swept mid, and unusually, an EQ bypass switch is provided; the four stereo channels have a simplified 2-band shelving EQ. Phantom power is provided on all 12 mono inputs, and -- a nice touch -- is switchable on a per-channel basis. Insert points are also fitted to the 12 mic/line channels, but not to the stereo channels. Overall, this is a very competent desk with good audio quality, small but with a 'real mixer' feel which is reinforced by its stylish and spacious layout. Well-suited to 4- and 8-track studio work, and capable of doubling for small-scale live mixing.
I'm very interested if it's the right size.Could you please furnish me with the measurements/dimensions as I think they make a few different sizes. Many thanks.
Hi - it is the 'normal' sized pad which measures 23" x 15" x 2.75" in real money. Somebody has already said they would have this - just waiting for confirmation from them. -

Now sold - thank you. Up for sale is my EV AC One crossover controller. This is in good condition (a few scratches but nothing severe) and operates perfectly. There is some blurb from EV below the photos. I would prefer collection from Bolton Lancs but will post at cost price if necessary. Thanks for looking. The AC One Audio Controller includes a newly designed crossover function (patent pending) that improves SPL around the crossover frequency. This makes it the ideal solution for systems with relatively small full-range speakers plus subwoofers. And best of all, you don’t need an engineering degree. Just trust your ears and be impressed by the acoustical result. The highest requirements of modern audio applications can be met only by using active multicomponent loudspeaker systems that can be amplified separately and that reproduce the audio signal’s individual frequency ranges. Active 2-way installations with additional subwoofer systems probably offer the best price/performance ratio. The subwoofers reproduce the low-frequency range of the audio signal, while high-quality, full-range cabinets take care of the mid/hi frequencies and vocals. One essential advantage is that vocals are not divided between different speaker systems. This makes the sound system easier to adjust. Opposite-to-active 3- or 4-way configurations, difficult analysis, and measurement of sound fields become unnecessary. Since low-frequency sound is nearly impossible to locate spatially, monaural subwoofers suffice for smaller stages or rooms. On wider stages, individual subwoofer systems must be used for each side. If they are not, the level differences between bass and treble audibly degrade the overall sound. Of course, adding a centrally located subwoofer can also improve the sound quality. The AC One Audio Controller was designed for use in high-performance installations that employ active 2-way systems plus subwoofers. Such applications usually incorporate professional linear power amplifiers like the EV P1200, P2000, P3000, Force, Eliminator or the new P1201 and P1202. When a processor-controlled power amplifier like the EV P1250 is used, the processor section is simply switched off. Installing and operating the AC One Controller is easy as can be. The user does not need to know any complex detail about crossover functions and equalization. All controls for matching the sound to different acoustic conditions and loudspeakers are located on the front panel. Difficult tasks—- for instance, electronic signal routing and settings—-are automatically carried out inside the controller. The PowerMax 12 crossover function makes optimal use of amplifier output power and loudspeaker transmission capacities. When compared to conventional crossovers or controllers, this results in improved overall sound quality achieved with less effort. The AC One Audio Controller also works well in active 2-way instrument reinforcement applications for keyboards, electric bass, and drums. The PowerMax 12 crossover function eliminates the oftencomplained- about "lack of punch and definition" common to conventional active musical reinforcement systems. The AC One Audio Controller’s excellent dynamic range of more than 117dB, its extremely low noise level, and its outstanding price/performance ratio make it an excellent alternative to conventional crossover and controller solutions, even in the critical field of permanent installation.

This (apart from the off-topic nonsense) is an interesting and enjoyable thread. I was brought up on classic rock (actually as it was the first time round we just used to call it rock). Played the genre I listened to for a few years in various bands until I hooked up with a few guys that wanted to do something a bit different and more current. This was a change and a bit of a risk as every pub band around our way were playing rock music at the time (Wishing Well, Smoke on the Water, Alright Now etc etc). This was what the pub crowd wanted to listen to and this is what the bands wanted to play. There were some stand out songs at the time and as they came into the charts we would be among the first to learn them and get them out there into the pubs (Vertigo, I predict a Riot, Golden Touch, Mr Brightside, Dakota, Sex on Fire, Sit Down etc). These were new and fresh and went down well when we first started playing them. Other songs came & went but these songs seemed to remain. What we set out to achieve (i.e. doing something different to everyone else) lasted for around 1-2 years. Then everyone seemed to be at it. I managed to last until March this year when I finally admitted to myself that although I still love playing live, respect and enjoy being with the other band members and get a blast out of some great audience reaction & feedback that we've had, I was bored shitless! We'd start a set and by the third song I would be thinking 'oh no - not Yellow again'. I decided to leave and am now with a band playing popular covers that everyone knows but with a female singer. Yes, i'm sure some other bands play some of the stuff we do but there are not many of them. The material goes down really well and i'm enjoying every minute of it. Think Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Kelly Clarkeson etc etc. Oh, and the women love it. As someone mentioned earlier - women dance. Couldn't be happier. The only problem will be if everyone starts playing it (not much chance of that as it's not cool enough). As a footnote we are a 5 piece band drums, bass, 2 guitards (all forty/fifty year old blokes) with a young (twenties) female singer. All the blokes have been in classic rock/indie bands for years and we all bored with the same old same old. Take some of the attitude and energy from that background, play it in a rock/indie type of style then mix in a great female vocal and we reckon we're onto a winner!

Anyone bought a new bass and found their fretting hand aches?
mr zed replied to Lozz196's topic in Bass Guitars
Cheers for the offer but I'm on the outskirts of Birmingham (on the Warwickshire side). That's very useful info about the Bongo neck being similar to the Reflex. I'm only about 1/2 an hour away from Bass Direct (who I'm probably going to order the Reflex through) so I'm just going to check their website to see if they have any Bongos in. If they do then I know what I'm doing this Saturday. Thanks again.
No problem - I'm sure Mark at Bass DIrect will sort you out. If you need any help or have any questions just give me a shout. Hope it works out for you. -
That's actually quite reassuring to me cheers. I've just about made up my mind to order a Music Man Reflex Bass at some point in the next 12 months (when my finances should be able to cover it if I keep my belt tight) & the only slight niggle of doubt in my mind is that I probably won't be able able to test drive one before I order as they seem to be super rare in the UK & the necks on the Music Man Stingrays I've played are a fair bit chunkier than anything I've owned in recent years.
Where are you based? I have a Music Man 25th Anniversary 4 string (the same as the reflex but with the a fancy finish limited to 2009 production that later became the Reflex). I'm in Bolton so if you're close you're more than welcome to come and have a play. If not, maybe another owner closer to you could accommodate? It's always worth trying before you buy. I also have a stingray & the necks are completely different to the reflex. I'd say the reflex neck is very similar to a bongo. It may be easier to try one of these as there are more of them about. -
I thought this was going to be about Paul Geary when I read the thread title - doh

Well, I have received UK powerleads and covers for my PA speakers. One speaker is 'in the destination country' the other is sat in Koln :-) At least things are starting to move.
