1. As mentioned, they go a bit quick but i love the punch I get from when they're worn in.
  2. Since the arrival of my Thumb I've felt absolutley no need to play this bass, which is a shame being a damn good bass but my Thumb is more what I'm after. Anyhoo, pics: This one points out the wear on the back, it's nothing serious, just a sign of a well gigged bass: Everyone know's about these basses by now so theres not too much need of an explanation, but I'll add that having the Bart's instead of the original MEC's (Which I still have) makes a marginal difference in the tone and also the playability, having the poles covered instead of exposed on the MEC's it makes it easier having the pick up's closer to the string for a more of a ramp feel. This bass has previously been owned by Si on here as well and was a great guy to deal with, so if anybody needs any other opinions I'm pretty sure he'd be someone to get in contact with as well. Right for a cash price I thinking £350 or about £325 collected, as I'm not too sure about the coruiers down here in Bridgwater, the ones I have used have all been unpleasent and a general dissapointment service wise, but if we can arrange something that's perfectly cool. Also if anyone has any jazz basses for trade with cash your way then I'm all ears. Thanks All Josh

  4.
So underrated I've never heard of him. Who does he play for?
Maroon 5, he's alright, hold's down the groove quite well but thats about it.
  5.
Have you worked out the ridiculous tappy widdly bits where it is just drums and bass towards the end? If so, can you either vid yourself playing them or tab them Edit - I am not referring to the end bit I already know that
If I ever get the chance to sit down with a bass set up in the right tuning I might try and figure it out but otherwise all my attention is on figuring out Martinie's lines and Dirk's as well.
  6.
I love Warwicks, and if everything goes well should own my third by tomorrow. My avatar has me playing one (though it isn't clear). But I was just surprised that all these videos had them all in quick succession. Especially as there is a good range in availablity to your rock/metal/whatever Kerrang plays bassists. Maybe it just goes to show that Warwick users do have good taste.
And having seen the videos listed, in each that Warwick tone just cuts through and takes prominence in the mix, it's great to hear. I should be getting my first Thumb at the end of this month so thats something to look foward to
  7.
I'm sitting here with Kerrang in the background and I've noticed that the last four videos have had bassists with Warwicks on them. Fightstar - Stryker Can't Remember the band's name - Vampyre Enter Shakari - Jazzman Fei Comodo - Thumb It's like a bloody Warwick fest here tonight.
It's kind of good to see, for me when I see certain bassists in bands using Warwicks I can sometimes safely assume they know how good Warwicks are and themselves are quite established players, for example: Ryan Martinie in my avatar. But then there are the ones who have a Warwick because somebody told them they're expensive so they must be good but either way they still sound good on any recording.
  8. If only I could reserve the Thumb man.
  9.
There's a thumb going secondhand in For Sale at £650.
I've got my eyes on it Sir, I just hope it stays around til the end of this month because I'll have more than enough for it, well at least this is the first time I can actually admitt to GAS clouding my judgement, thanks guys for your insights!
  10. I think it could be that I'm just seriously wanting a Thumb bass, knowing I've already got a form of Warwick kept me going and I do like the Corvettes now but I think I'm striving for that Thumb bass midrange growl which sadly my $$ lacks though still having a nice punchy tone, so you may be right man it just eb the wrong model thats all and as I've said I can afford to get one soon so it may just be me getting impaitent as well.
  11.
Don't buy gear when you're bored - write music! Alex
Not the easiest thing to do when you don't want to touh your instrument
  12.
Sounds like you're bored. Simple solution: get into a new band.
I wish it was that simple but it's hard to find good drummers and good guitarists down here who are interested in making different music as opposed to whats happening in the music scene nowadays and it's not exactly a case of boredom, more frustation, there's so much I can and have to learn that I could never really get bored as I've got so much to do.
  13.
CAREFUL!! Just because you ar feeling a bit un-challenged and maybe a bit bored with your bass at the moment, that is not to say that 3 months down th eline you really miss the bass and realise that it wasn't the fault of the bass at all, maybe you just have bad GAS or sometimes you need to remind yourself how your bass sounds in a mix, or a band situation. Sometimes I will go for days and days without touching a bass because I just don't feel like it. If I do pick up a bass when I am not really in the mood I think I could easily start fiddling and wondering if I can justify something else. Take your time and start saving! I hope you like your new job BTW. ped
Thanks Ped sir! It's not to say I don't like my Corvette, far from it, love the tones I can get, I think it must be down to a mixture of GAS and the general Not-In-The-Mood-To-Play-ness all culiminating together, it should subside soon but I'd still lvoe a 6 or 5 string right nowe or a Thumb 4 would be spiffing!
  14.
Well if you want to nick CK's gig I guess you are gonna have to get a Smith 6. Its a long way from Somerset mind. I would be inclined to try and join some other musicians again.
I'd love Kiwi's Smith but I've only just got a new job as of yesterday, it's not to say it out of the question but it would take me about 4 months to get £2000 but I know I'll find another one or something similar, or it may be I'm desperate to get my hands on a Thumb bass because I know I can now afford one. I'd love to join some musicians and I have jammed with soem guitarists privately so I've been able to try out what I can now do and see what eneds improving etc...But it's hard to find the right people down here.
  15. Check out the first album man, simply titled The Yellowjackets, every song is pure cheesey American Chat show music but it's so good you can't help but smile, and Jimmy Haslip is by far one of the most underrated bassists out there!
  16.
Might be something simple like dead strings? - but don't let buying a new set of strings put you off buying a new bass hamster
Ahhh I just put on a newish set of DR's from my old 5 string and have a nice newness in both feel and sound to them, not to zinggy but still nice when slapped etc... All the right gauge as well so I don't think it has anything to do with that.
  17.
Are you gigging or playing at home?
Playing at home man, I've been working on myself since I quit the last band I was in a good 8 or months ago now, it's paid off but as ARGH said I think I am needing something else to muck around with, thats not to say I know everything to do on 4 strings far from it, but it would be nice to have the extra range to noodle with and lately I've been watching loads of 6 string gospel players, all playing Ken Smith 6 strings and seeing Kiwi's may have sparked something. After some adjusting to both my settings and the bridge pick-up again last night I've finally gotten comfortable again but I think I'm longing for a 5 or 6 string or may be just an odd few weeks.
  18. Evening All, Lately I've found myself to not be getting along with my Corvette, for a good long while up until recently I've been able to play it happily and not have change very much at all, but lately I'm constantly chaning the bridge pick-up height almost everytime I've played in the last 3 weeks and constantly tampering with the action on specifically the D and G strings. Just to clarify, as I said the bass has been playing fine but then it just felt a little too easy and I just couldn't get comfortable like usual so thats why I went ahead and adjusted everything, but nothing seems to feel right (Even if I get the set-up back to the way I had it prior to adjusting it). I'm wondering is it a sign for me to move on and find another bass to take my playing that bit further? Is it GAS related? Or is it something that bit more sinister?
  19. Being one of the previous owners I can happily say this bass is great and can do just about anything you'd want it to, and also to say Simon is a legend and a great guy to deal with!
  20. Josh

    Spector basses

The Euro I had was a fantastic piece of craftmanship and as JD1 said the output is huge, thanks to the TonePump which has replaced the Aguilar preamp as of late.
  21. For me it's Ken Smith basses, they sound so damn good but the style of them is odd and unique but I do find myself oddly drawn to them, especially Kiwi's.
  22. Funk-Metal is my main preference but I'll do just about anything if asked. And of course groove-laying is a favourite.
  23.
Hey Josh .. I'd like to know this too .. Can you edit the thread title to say "Move on up" who done it? May get more response? Cheers OG
Edited for you sir!
