  1. Why not look at the m7 or v7/9/10 if you find the Sire comfortable? I really notice the difference between 18-19 mm spacing and 34”-35” scale lengths, and went through quite a few fivers before realising I need 18mm and 34” to be comfortable.
  2. That switch makes a huge difference! Can imagine it being very useful if you wanted to quickly dial in a slap section
  3. Haha, you should enjoy it mate. I reckon if you ever did let go it would be on the list of regrets. When I joined basschat years ago I would be swapping and changing basses every 6-12 months. Luckily from that I realised I had a gem of a Fender already which I still own with a custom Overwater. Just need a decent 5 string.... I’ve already said somewhere on this forum I wouldn’t own a Sadowsky because it doesn’t tick the tone box for me, although in a gig situation I think the preamp cuts through the mix better than most. Also they are very well built and easy to play.
  4. For me, playability and a deep warm tone. The closest I’ve found to perfection is the KS you now own. Hopefully once I’ve got married I’ll be able to save up for one too.
  5. I’ve never had an issue with a weak B on a Warwick, what are you comparing it to?
  6. Do you need more than two pictures to want this bass?
  7. Overwater can do that for around £2k.
  8. that's a lot of tone for £1k. A nice little arrangement there too.
  9. Gig the fender and keep the flea bass for fun at home? I would love one if I had the chance.
  10. Have you done it yet? Hit the button Matt, hit the goddam button.
  11. Regarding the CS basses, they’re not mass produced so they are likely to be slightly inconsistent but with longer hours spent on quality checking should mean that none of them are bad basses. The OP is asking for people who have owned multiple PP basses. I don’t think there will be many who have the money to do that.
  12. I think a lot of it is that they have been quite hard to get hold of in the UK yet they’re very desirable. Especially when you don’t include shipping there have been some advertised around the 2k mark, which is a lot less than thomann
  13. If you like low action maybe look at a status graphite replacement?
  14. Get one of the used black ones on eBay at half the price and sand off the finish?
  15. The guys at Wunjo have been good to me quite a few times when I’ve nearly bought a bass off them. When I was 17 they had a 67 p bass which was wonderful. I was really tempted at the time but didn’t have the knowledge about old basses like I do now so could have made a mistake paying so much. The second time was a Phillipe Dubrielle bass. I’d never heard of him before but he was on Denmark Street and they offered to introduce me. Managed to resist both times but I’ll be going back when I’m in a position to buy a bass again. I love the idea of owning the series 1 Alembic they currently have.
  16. Nobody else seems to be partaking so I’ll give you the results. It seems you were fairly split except for the expensive bass not being bass B, which of course it was. A: 2006 MIM Fender Precision. This has flatwounds which gave it the really rich and deep voice. Vol on 80% and Tone 60%. I also upgraded the pickups to Lindy Fralins which has improved the tone a lot. B: 2017 Overwater custom jazz fretless. I adore this bass and have really gone for a Jaco theme. The strings were new steels and the balance was more bridge pickup biased with low action that will have made it sound possibly too zingy. It was also hard to hide the fact it was fretless, especially with the chord at the end. C : 2016 VM Squier Jazz. I’m not so attached to this bass and got given it when I sold my Sire. With the Dunlop steels on it does sound super funky. The playability isn’t bad and you can dial in some useable tones. For the recording I was again back pickup biased but with around 90% tone.
  17. I’m hoping it’s a slow burner and I’ll wait until the end of the week to reveal. I didn’t realise it was a bass bash as well yesterday so busy weekend for some on here.
  18. Yep Musicman do it much better
  19. now added a souncloud link
  20. It’s an attachment on the post. Didn’t really know how best to do it tbh, can try and get it on sound loud if it’s easier.
  21. Bonus points to whoever can correctly guess what style of Fender bass each one is
  22. Bass Comparison.mp3 So I have found myself in a cool position where I have three different basses at three totally different price points, and I thought wouldn't it be fun to get people to try and guess which bass is which. All 3 are Fender style passive basses and the prices are for a new bass of equivalent model today rather than when i bought them. So on the recording are the three examples back to back, the first one being bass A, second bass B and third bass C. So hopefully you can vote for which one you think belongs to which price point. Soundcloud link: Now for the disclaimers: 1) this is just a bit of fun, I've not put too much time into this. 2) The basses have different strings of different ages. Not very scientific but again a bit of fun, 3) Yes there are mistakes in all 3 examples, especially Bass A where the timing in the middle goes somewhere else but again, its just for fun and i'm not that bothered about it. 4) Its been recorded through Garageband with not much interference on the original tone. The settings on the basses are just how I usually like them. I'll leave it up for 48 hours before giving the answers. Obviously a lot of you will be gigging tonight.
  23. Is this different enough? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002D00O6
  24. There may not be technical issues and it may just be down to what is comfortable. No size fits all. For example I struggle with 35” scale lengths and 19mm string spacing on 5 strings. It’s not down to technique but comfort. That limits the 5 string options for me but I don’t care. janek Gwizdala can play 34” scale lengths fine but prefers a 32 or 33. For me he has incredible technique.
  25. I’m not much for the bronco’s, I think the materials they used were a bit cheap and I would say get it properly setup even if new. The mustang would get my vote or if she’s a RHCP fan then the old flea bass would be a good shout. This example is actually quite expensive but I’m sure with some digging you could find a cheaper one. https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flea-Bass-Guitar/323831152871?ul_ref=https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&pub=5575376664&toolid=10001&campid=5338268676&customid=EAIaIQobChMIqu6eypSW5QIVDbDtCh096AT4EAQYAyABEgJoufD_BwE&lgeo=1&item=323831152871&srcrot=710-53481-19255-0&rvr_id=2141384762883&rvr_ts=becb323b16d0aa660854b581fffc0127&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1&ul_noapp=true&pageci=eff41be5-fcdb-40b7-8d59-240a2ec0ddd2
