Really cool to hear he’s a nice chap. His lines are up there with Jamerson, Rocco, Jaco and flea, in terms of influence on my bass journey. Not sure how well I could have kept my cool.
Same one is slightly cheaper on reverb but the guy thinks it’s made in US. Might be able to use old classifieds on here to convince them the price is wrong.
I think it’s gone up in line with the recent increase of Warwick’s Team built MIG series. I sold my Warwick Thumb NT 5 fretless for just £1k 10 years ago. Would love another one but couldn’t justify the prices now. There are sometimes decent ones just above £2k at the usual shops.
How weird that the finish has come off so easily. I’m guessing it wasn’t green from factory? I’d be tempted to take it all off and you’d have a lovely natural F bass.
My second bass was a P bass but when at uni I decided to experiment with different J basses and the and the P bass was left in the case. Luckily I never sold it because after owning lots of J basses of different types and eras, the P bass had the sound I had been trying to get.
Totally agree with P basses. A 1967 was my favourite. Although very different, the best J basses I’ve played were a 62 and a 78 for both sound and feel.
Yep massive. But the criteria was “Our go-to gurus, those unsung heroes of the bass world that lurk in the background either on rekkid or on stage?” He isn’t exactly lurking in the background like Pino does.
