  1. Edited the above as I just didn't English at all
  2. Both of the arguments do make sense - because they'll all make the app show as a large hog on resources... so when people look at why their mobile device is nearly dead on batteries and running hot when the device isn't being used for mixing, bingo, app gets bad name. This isn't to do with the mixing desk unit, which is mains powered... all the connections for the UI will be responses to requests initiated by the client device (the app). You could argue there is no point in keeping this processing overhead when the UI isn't even being presented to the end user. Depending upon how the app has been implemented, it could also have a negative impact on the app which is in focus. I don't know what your line of work is - but its also worth noting that it does matter what the processors of a few years look like. I know a lot of people with mixers that go into CEX to buy the cheapers ipad or whatever... just for use with mixers. You dont want to be running ipads that are costing as much as the mixer. Taking this into account, the app will have been designed to run on some very minimal spec stuff.
  3. It'll be a bandwidth and power consumption choice Im sure. No use processing if it's not in focused and not there to be seen.
  4. At least there's a physical interface on this mixer. On some of the other mixers out there, the thought of trusting it all to one ipad was a bit too much!
  5. I always have a dedicate ipad on the mixer, using another for switching between stuff if needed. Not ideal I know - but I feel I need instant access at all times!
  6. Ive reached the point in my life where none of this GAS stuff interests me any more. Yeah, I like to look at all this stuff - but the desire to actually buy it - all but gone.
  7. I don’t get why folk seem to be having such a problem with batteries?
  8. Due to me not running bands anymore, I'm shifting a load of my personal PA gear. All my stuff is currently in storage but will be pulling it out to photograph and update the posts. Now with Pics! https://www.akg.com/Microphones/Drum Microphone Bundles/DrumsetSessionI.html Set of drum mics. One mic (P4) developed an intermittent fault so I bought another. Will include the original as may be an easy fix for those inclined or used as spares. Great condition (look new), complete with all the clips. Great sound, especially for the money. Check out my other PA stuff - will probably be adding some more mics too.
  9. Due to me not running bands anymore, I'm shifting a load of my personal PA gear. All my stuff is currently in storage but will be pulling it out to photograph and update the posts. Now with pics! Mackie DL32R + Apple Airport Extreme + Amptown Cases flightcase (highend cases, 3u, custom made to exact dimensions). Everything is neatly racked, with a single powercon and network connections on D series connectors mounted on a rear rackpanel - £1000 each. Manufacturer info here - https://mackie.com/en/products/mixers/dl-series/dl32r.html I have two of the above for sale. And also, 2x Dante cards (These are rare as), hence £500 each. I used these as a Front of House and Monitor (IEM rig) two desk setup with the Dante connection between the two relaying the preamp of the FoH to the Monitor mixer. Very clean condition and like all my gear, completely treated with kid gloves. Check out my other listings for PA stuff!
  10. Depends upon on the the rechargeable battery in question, and crucially its discharge curve. Plenty of decent options, just need looking for! There's a thread on here where we talk about it... search for trustfire on the forum to find the thread.
  11. Due to me not running bands anymore, I'm shifting a load of my personal PA gear. All my stuff is currently in storage but will be pulling it out to photograph and update the posts. Now with PIC! https://www.denondj.com/mc4000-mc4000xus.html with https://www.thedjshop.co.uk/magma-mc-4000-protective-flight-case-with-laptop-tray.html (No the Mac is not included!) It has been used for 2 gigs on 1 weekend. It's been flightcased in the Magma case - and of course, the unit itself is as good as new! Mint mint mint. (I only got it (on the way to a gig) because I got let down by the DJ on the way and I had to cover) Check out my other listings for PA stuff!
  12. Solution to a problem that doesn't really exist? EMG ES-9 /18 - discontinued. Wonder why? It's not hard wiring a box to send power down a stereo lead. But you are setting off down a road of custom. Spare cables tend to be unbalanced/mono, not stereo. So you will then be carrying around a spare cable, which is a lot more inconvenient than a battery. Rechargeable batteries are cheap enough - and if you get one of the USB chargeable ones, they are are now a lot more hi-capacity than your standard PP3 rechargeable. I have a whole XLR, balanced, power solution on one of my basses (powers preamp, LEDs, and balanced output). Do I ever use the functionality of that? No, I use the standard jack and batteries? Why? Cos it's less headaches running something standard than carrying around custom cables and boxes. I've been where you are - and your thinking is not helping you out. Don't waste your time. Invest in some good batteries!
  13. The benefits of playing samples where all the transients have been brought under control! (And no mic bleed)
  14. Remember to feed back your big finds to A&H - they are usually pretty hot on bug fixes and community improvement suggestions.
  15. Actually, scratch that... now we are talking... https://www.gak.co.uk/en/se-electronics-dm3-dynamite-inline-active-di-box/959243
  16. Do you need it to be passive? Or is phantom powered OK? I'm guessing battery is out due to the size? I'll thrown in the Fischer mini DI... you need smaller than that? Cos you could be out of luck if you are!
  17. WAIT - hang on, no GEQ on the output? So not notching, only parametric? OK for inears, not great for wedges. (Although A&H may go, the feedback assist does away for the need for a graphic.)
  18. Good stuff. I thought they would have been MASSIVE oversights if they weren't included.
  19. You'd hope theres an EQ on the output - because if you are using wedges, you'd want to be able to notch frequencies as an absolute minimum.
  20. Looking at the sales specs - - Output: 6x Mono Aux 1/4" TRS Jacks (linkable) What's the linkable thing about? I would have thought you would have had to link on the mixer and then your remote monitor mix will just assume control of that linked pair? (Then I'm guessing additional options like pan will appear in the app?)
  21. Stereo mixers aren't possible. Whut? Aw man. That's pants.
