1.
Possibly, but I found it very easy to drive with a 350/500w amp.
Goddamit it's about the amp man!
 2. Hey if it sounds good, what's the problem?
 3.
Big compromise in tone expected
Try telling Anthony Jackson that... or Mike Gordon... or Phil Lesh... or... PA speakers have made some of the most awesome onstage rigs.
 4.
There's no reason you'd have this problem with a Big One...
The Big One was the most inefficient of them all.
 5. I had one of these (albeit in the not so cool black). Damn, should not have sold it.
 6. Now be quiet and check out some real bass playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A82RlqBOpB8
 7.
I have to admit I'm still buzzing after spending the weekend working alongside Roger Sadowsky. He was just such a nice guy and had a really refreshing attitude to producing a bass for a 'working' musician. Of course, I now have major Sadowsky GAS - just when I thought I was more or less happy with my basses!
It must be love Barrie!
 8. :-p You have a good show anyway?
 9.
I cut the string beyond the tuning post about to about the same length as the average penis.
We going with vintage or modern stats?
 10.
I really should read this stuff before I post it. Turned round and you where gone and I didn't see you the rest of the day which was a pity.
where? a long trip back from London I'm guessing!?
 11.
I now purposefully learn new songs all fretted on the five string as it makes key changes easy as pie!
To think you were a diehard 4 player... At least you got there in the end!
 12.
Point of order, Kate Bush is certainly NOT a genius!
I dunno, kept out of the bs music industry for much of her life... Seems a smart move.
 13.
I spoke to the P&D guy about it for a while and I don't think they both work the same way as far as I understood it. The guy I had with me to play demos was equally impressed with it. I was surprised how well it translated all the notes even when played at speed or slapped. I was genuinely impressed with how well it work.
Now that makes it even more difficult - if the technologies are different that is!!
 14.
Tried the P&D one on the Sunday morning before the show opened and was really impressed with it. Did not try the Tec Amp version because I did not see it until the break down.
Bummer - now I am a bit miffed I couldn't go... both under one roof!
 15. Also probably worth putting this up too GF - PB S: 12,5 kg, 27,6 lbs PB M: 16,5 kg,36,4 lbs PB L: 19,5 kg, 43,0 lbs P&D comes in at 13kg... but then then theres the amp on top... 5.9kg / 9.5kg / 3.4kg depending upon which of the P&D amps... vs 1.45kg for the amp. Im guessing that you could in theory use any old amp with the PB but I would be wary of what I would plug into the P&D one considering it has 150w handling vs 600w @ 8ohm of the tecamp. As you can see, this all makes for an interesting shootout. BGM are you reading this?
 16. http://tecamp.de/en/...0.html#overview http://tecamp.de/en/...d.html#overview From Thomann PB L - 425.89 PB M - 391.91 PB S - 356.48 PB PP - 534.35 So nearer 950 for the large - but the sizes are quite generous... 29.5" x 29.5" x 3" - for P&D compared to - PB S: 31,5“ x 3,9 x 23,6“ PB M: 31,5“ x 3,9“ x 31,5“ PB L: 47,2“ x 3,9“ x 31,5“ So the Medium Pleasure board is still bigger than the P&D board. Of course, the size of boards if you aren't really moving around is a bit of a moot point (unless you have clown shoes on) - but the thing I am interested in, is the size and weight of the amp. The Tecamp certainly looks very favourable in that department.
 17.
Not a worry for me - I am as visually boring as John Deacon!! Out of interest what does the Tecamp Please Board cost?
Depends upon the size - they do three sizes. From memory, the largest board with the pleasure pump(!) amp is circa 800 quid.
 18.
I did really like the Porter and Davies product and feel that would really enhance my gig enjoyment but not sure that I could stump up £1k easily for that pleasure.
I was gutted I wasn't well enough to come to the show as this is the product I was interested in. I'd like to know how it compares to the tecamp pleasure board. I know that p&d have been pushing this - but it's not new tech - but maybe they've taken it somewhere over and above the pleasure board. Of course, the big downside of this type of monitoring system is that it kinda cements you to the spot - which can be a little visually boring.
 19.
ACS ?
Probably would be ACS but it was CIEM company that exhibited.
 20.
I can't make it but can anyone tell me if the folks that make the ear moulds are there and the name of the company at all please? I spoke with them last year about getting a pair made but completely forgot the name of the company.... Anyone able to help?
Paul @ http://www.custom-inearmonitors.co.uk
 21.
Excellent time today. Thanks to everyone that dropped by. Found the volume at my end of the hall to be pretty good I think the volume was higher at the other end according to people I spoke to. Place was really busy despite the negative comments which was very encouraging for tomorrow and future shows.
Good stuff - I always think that the exhibitors are in a win or lose situation depending upon their placement. Sounds like you bagged a good spot if the volume was low!
 22. Ben Epstein.
 23.
Mmmmm. 3.5 hours is a meeting or a gig or a flight or any one of a thousand other legitimate things that could make responding on Basschat potentially problematic. Not much sympathy, I am afraid.
Post curry porcelain appointment...
 24.
Having breakfast at Walton on Thames Station right now! I'll be on the 9.40 train :-)
I'm in bed and have no reason for wearing pants this weekend. I win! :-p
 25. Whats with all the lanyard excitement? It seems like theres a party that I wasn't invited to...?
