1. couldn't sit for days...
2. Nice bass at a crazy price. That Aguilar modded MM... wow
3. I should add that there is a definitely a right time and place for LEDs.
4.
In the real world LEDs are unnecessary, from a playing point of view at least. It seems crass (and rather uncool) to be so focussed on flashy appearances.
If you're gonna be a twat, then wear a big hat!
5.
I'm interested to know if the fretboard needs to be removed to install them...my PDN Stingray has a lacquered neck & fretboard join so that worries me...
If Martin Simms does it, then no, the fretboard isn't removed.
6.
Why no firewire?
With a name like that, I can see why they didn't want to take any chances...
7.
maybe they were too good..??
Woop!
8. I can't ever see it catching on... Except for the most diva of divas. As you say, problem that didn't exist. Doesn't mean i wouldn't like to play with it!
9. Shame these cabs didn't break into the mainstream
10. No latency issues - it's Dante from desk. The unit just mixes on the fly. The positioning of the stereo image won't matter even if it's circa 10ms out which I highly doubt it will be anyway! Highly expensive but a great little gadget. Don't think it will be widely adopted though...
11. http://www.klang.com/en/ Interesting concept...
12. EBS HD350 is my fave amp of all time. Characteristics are typically super clean with the ability to deliver super highs in addition to bass. EQ is very versatile so you can make it a mud monster too. It's still packs a punch (it seems very efficient) at 4 ohms. With one of the larger EBS cabs - they are 4ohms (like a 410 or a 212 for example) they are perfectly loud to gig no problems. Don't be put off by the relative modest wattage. They deliver the beans very efficiently. HD350s typically go between 350 and 450 used.
13.
Just plug in and fire it up?
Exactly ;-)
14.
Not really. I don't have all these things. Ashdown have put in a box everything I would like to use at home. Without having multiple wall warts and cables. If you are happy with the mess of your suggested alternative, all's well for you.
Kind of what I was getting at. Swiss army knife. Not necessarily the best compared to having all the components individually - but like hifi, sometimes its easier to have the all in one without the clutter compared to all the wires. "Hey mate, come over, we'll practice and record some ideas, bring your interface, your monitors, [s]your lighter[/s], your practice amp......" Instead of getting under the desk and messing with a rats nest of cables, simply unplug the mains and take your Ashdown B Social.
15.
i use numbers whhich is apples version of excel. I just write out the chords using the grid lines as bars and then just improvise round that
You need irealb in your life!
16.
If this had a Barefaced badge on it , I imagine some people would be falling over in the rush to order one ....
Damn right... because Bareface have vast experience outside of speaker cabinet making.
17. As long as it doesn't catch fire, I actually think that it's pretty good - I had to see Mark's video on the link posted previously to "get it" - but as a do it all home, portable tool, I completely get it... and it's pretty good value from money from that point of view. It's not a gigging tool - I don't think that was ever the brief - but I could see this in many project studios, or people home studios... and with the app stuff, it gives you a lot of versatility from the demo making point of view. I don't want to be bothered with lugging a pedal board out just to play with some effects. Some times you don't want to load up a DAW to do the same... but this is there, all together in one unit... and for me, it works. Whether it is before it's time, I don't know... but its a cool piece of studio kit/practice amp.
18.
Incorrect.
Ha ha ha!
19.
This is how all fretboard lights look to me.
Time and place for all!
20. Here's a Ray!
21.
Hi folks, got an itch for LED's and whether to have them installed into my Stingray, but also dealing with terrible GAS for a USA Sterling too atm. Im interested to see if LED's would benefit and what they would look like in MM basses...has anyone got an example they can share with me?
Dougie from McFly is probably the MM user that instantly comes to mind with LEDs loaded in his bass. All Sterlings though I'm afraid!
22. Try an audix d6 and a great deal of your eq will be taken care of before it hits the desk. Super good kick mic.
23. Looks like there has been a refresh of the ACS lineup - the notable addition is the new Encore 5 driver (2 treble, 2 mid, 1 bass - 1 bass why??) in at 799 with the live mics built in. T1 been renamed to Evolve and the T3 is renamed the Evoke. I think this is a great step forward for the UK company because they seem to be falling behind in the driver count war and tbh, pricing. Will be interested to hear the Encore 5 to see if it can handle tonnes of bass that the T1 couldn't. On paper, I'm disappointed they didnt go with the dual low... but no doubt the response is that theyve used a bigger balanced armature for the bass. Will also be intrigued to see if the mids and highs are true doubles or the "two in one" balanced armatures.
24. Must admit when the OP stated the genre of music, I would say that the PA sounds a bit on the skinny side...
25. The correct solution would be to upgrade your desk.... However... If you just want it for kick and want to keep expenditure low, put the kick mic into a little mixer and just put the kick drum into that. Output from the mini desk to powered sub. Probably would be good to put a DI in there bass too if you want to take advantage of extended lows.
