another lovely tribute on the front page of wood and tronics page Must have been a great guy to warrant all the tributes.. RIP http://www.wtbasses.net/home.aspx
5. there are a few ways to do it Theres the built in mic if you are just after a basic sound or, maybe a USB to Jack lead for about 30 quid.. in my experience plugging into the mini jack in never goes well
6. I have one of these (currently waiting to be picked up by another member) And they are nice basses for the money, very light and comfy to play. Chris is cool to deal with.. so don´t hesitate those who missed out on mine!
7.
I've been remiss in not making it clear in my OP that I mean in a live setting. So if you play in a "popular music" type band, when is a good time to improvise on stage? And what is the reason for your improvisation?
Check my earlier post Silddx Just my little oppinion hope your well mate... used the Kopo on a recording. Pure sex.
8.
Is there a point? Unless you play jazz I can't see one. The occasional inspired extra note here and there, sure, but studying improvisation on a bass!?! It seems ridiculous. Learn to cook instead, it's much more useful and pleasing for other people. It sounds like a recipe for cheating your audience to me. Only musicians will feel any "magic" happening, and that magic will be VERY rare. The audience won't get it anyway, and why not compose something beautiful in the first place. For me, improvisation on a bass is for jazz and pompous tits who convince themselves it's entertaining. I wish they would realise NO-ONE GIVES A sh*t.
I did 3 years of a module called "Improv" at uni.. which taught you not only soloing on your instrument within a pop band.. but each week you would find yourself in a different band, even on the day of the assessment, the bands would shuffle round minutes before the exam, giving you two minutes to hastily come up with a structure between yourselves, and away you go. Its been really helpful for me, both as a regular in a band and as a dep. It increases confidence and improves your ear... all in all getting you through some tough gigs and ones where the luxury of preparation wasn't available.
9.
Honestly, what is the point of posting here with a 'feeler' for a bass of this type and price without any pics. Are you just messing about?
Are you the for sale post police today
10.
I've owed both the Sandberg JJ5 and JM5 as well as Fender American standard Jazz 5's and can say without doubt that Sandberg have far better fit and finish, but more importantly the sound is more open with greater depth, punch and definition. Another reason why I prefer them over the Fender is the 35" scale, The B is so much better in terms of punch and bass weight. The reason my Reliced JM5 was so cheep I needed a VERY quick sale as I have just been made redundant. Bills need to be paid and it was my 'spare' bass that had to go. As soon as I'm back on my feet I will be buying another JM5 or a P5 from Sandberg. They are expensive but worth the extra in playability and sound over a Fender.
35" scale? i had 2 for 3 years and always thought they were 34's! Crikey if i didn't notice that perhaps 35" isn't as much as a problem for me as i thought it was :S
11. Dude i'm having the exact same thing with a bass i've put a deposit on lol, it always passes once you have it! but it feels horrible lol
12. I bought a moog a couple of months back for this purpose. I'm really enjoying playing it, I have no keyboard skills aside from knowing where the notes are. I've practiced by playing along to tracks with great synth bass, stevie and mj mainly. My biggest barrier at the moment is making the sounds
13. PS.. it is the wood and tronics
14. Pm Replied to, looks to be sold. Thanks for all the interest

23. This bass is immaculate.. Was bought as a spare 5 string and has not been gigged. SOLD PENDING THE USUAL Interested in trade for COMBO Its one of Jon Shukers horn bass range basses. The body is african walnut, with an amboina drop top (with matching headstock veneer). The neck really is something special. The neck is made up of seven pieces. There are 4 pieces of Flamed Maple, 2 thin dark strips (wenge i think) and a piece of paduak running down the centre. The fingerboard is rosewood i think, and is a really grainy piece that looks great. The Preamp is Jon shukers active 2 band preamp and his own pickups. And has a fresh set of DR strings on it. I am also included a Shuker hiscox hardcase in the sale, which is in good condition, apart from a little bubble where i got a bit hot next to a radiator. The bass is a 34" scale Sound clips here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmTWTjM-MtQ I had a good deal on this bass, i got it in one of Jons clearouts. You can still see the body on his website, priced at 650. I paid 750 for the bass because i asked for the active preamp, and then bought the case also. I think 600 is fair as this bass is virtually unused, and to order this from Jon you'd probably pay closer to a grand and also have to wait about 6 months. The original buyer sent this back because some issues with the bridge. To confirm, the string spacing has now been rectified, the bridge is still blank, so potential buyer can either leave it blank, or cut the string grooves to thier own preference! Payment is by paypal or bank transfer or cash on collection. I will post, or meet you up to hours drive from me (birmingham) Enjoy the pictures (taken on my balcony ) and don't hesitate to get in touch.
24.
Since I had the amp back it's been fine but seems to be clipping with my active bass. last Sunday I used my passive jazz, hit a note hard, and off it went. Turn it off and back on, and it's fine. I'm baffled.
i had a dynacord class d power amp that did exactly that on one of the channels.. must be something digital amps do.. although some of the lower powered markbass heads have conventional power supplys (thats why some are SA and others SD... but i cant remember which yours was pete lol)
25. Never had a problem as a markbass user or retailer with any that we have sold
