1.
Apart from the re finish, it looks in good nick. I presume its all original too!
Difficult to tell from the pictures, but I'm not convinced the pots are original. Although to be fair, he has posted pictures of them, so I doubt he's trying to hide anything. In any event, looks a decent buy at under £1k
 2.
Get a dep singer!?
This is the Dep Singer. Normal singer pulled out weeks ago!
 3. Hope this is posted in the right forum. If not, apologies and could the Mods please move? Due to our singer being hospitalised with a nasty chest infection, we are having to cancel a (paid!) gig in Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire this Saturday. Is anyone in a band that is available for a gig that night? We've not played the venue before, but our set ranges from classic rock covers through to more modern indie stuff. Bog standard pub covers band in fact! So something similar would presumeably fit the bill. PM me if you're interested and I can let you have more details. Simon
 4. As far as I can tell, we're only against clones when LaBella start making Precision copies
 5. If only Fender protected their designs the way Rickenbacker do - then these manufacturers would have to come up with something original
 6. I use nylon strings on a fretted acoustic (the Rotosound ones I think). They sound great - much nicer than the bronze strings acoustics tend to come with. Very nice thuddy, upright sound.
 7. Blimey, I hadn't realised they cost so much! They're going for £63 on amazon [edit EssentialTension got in ahead of me!] I've got a copy at home, but I guess I'll hold onto it if they're worth that sort of money!
 8. I personally much prefer nickels. They feel softer than steels, without being as slippery as flats. And nickels sound warmer and a bit less "aggressive" than steels. IMO they sound new for longer as well (possibly becqause they're a bi less bright in the first place?) I would highly recommend EB Slinkies - they feel and sound great, and are priced decently as well.
 9. I've not got any diagrams, but I think there are some previous threads on here. In short, if you put a MM pickup where it is on a Stingray and a P pickup where it is on a Precision they will overlap. On MM / P hybrids like the Sandbergs the MM pickup is nearer the bridge than on a Stingray, which does affect the sound IMO.
 10. Been discussed here already: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/189379-anyone-else-get-the-feeling/
 11. Just part exchanged a Precision Deluxe for James's '74 Jazz. Great straight forward deal, and a fantastic bass. Thanks!
 12.
I thought the deluxe Ps had J necks anyway?
Not on the current American Deluxe models. P has a wider nut width than the Jazz.
 13.
Yeah, the cynic in me thought a dodgy neck plate etc.
I wondered that, but he only mentions the JV serial in response to a bidders question. Presumably he would have mentioned it in the ad if he knew what a JV was worth?! And he would have stuck it on a whole bass!
 14. I'm amazed this hasn't sold at this price. Have a free bump!
 15.
im under the impression only jazzes had the contour body decal
You're right. Precisions never had the contour body decal. It does look exactly like those limited edition Encores, which were decent basses, by the way. But not worth £500!
 16.
Pm'd
And replied
 17.
Got a 2002 Martin D16 gt in great shape with a hiscox flight case. Any love?
Have dropped you a PM
 18.
Aww, shame, but have a bump
Thanks!
 19.
Well, I think that's pretty cool. I think it's easy to forget that a massive amount of work goes in to developing and delivering a touring show. It's a shame you can't post too much information about it, but can understand why. Nevertheless, it's great to have heard a bit about it. So it was mainly for lighting, or stage power / FOH too? Either way, it sounds like a massive set of plans!
+1. What a fantastic job!
 20.
Constructive criticism is fine, but I think down right "they are rubbish" isn't (personal opinion of course). On Youtube I guess it has to be expected, I would just hope BC would be above all of that. From what I've seen, we've got everyone from worldwide stars to kids checking out the forum to see if they'd like to take up the instrument registered on here.
I understand what you're saying, and some of the posts have been dismissive (mine from last night included, with hindsight). But, they have posted videos and recordings on their site, so are implicitly asking people to take a view on their playing. And whichever way you look at it, the horns section is not in time or in tune! I'm the first to admit that my band may have played some pretty ropey covers in our time, but I wouldn't post videos of them on the band website!
 21.
That is a glorious looking, practical workhorse. I'll play. Proposal. Lakland Darryl Jones, Skyline, 2008, Lakland/Hansen pups, Lake Placid Blue, matching headstock....
To be honest, I've played a couple of DJs, but never really got on with the neck profile. Thanks for the offer though. Nobody got a Stingray HH they want to trade?!
 22.
You bought this bass from MagicMarco just 2 months ago... I wonder what you don't like about it that you sell already?
Indeed I did. It's not that I don't like - its actually a very nice bass. I bought it thinking I would move on one of my other precisions, but my CIJ P/J didn't sell, and I can't bring myself to part with the '64 or the '73. As I said in the original post, I can't justify four Precisions, so put this up for trade. Incidentally, my trade valuation is quite a bit less than I paid MagicMarco - so grab a bargain!
 23.
Their brass section on Valerie sounds like a brass band.
A pretty poor brass band, at that.
 24. Ah - this used to be mine! Fantastic bass and an absolute steal at this price.
