Seeing as there is a metal thing going on here let me introduce my bling bass. Its another P Bass - this one is a bitsa. When i got the body i wanted to remove the pickguard but my bandmates are having none of it. They love it - its a bit bling for me.

"Been a bit too busy to work on these tunes" - which i got from both chordsters (guitar and keys) last night. 1-2-3-4 the whole thing sounded a mess. 3 new songs were meant to be learnt - only one will be giggable

Question: is the point also to stick to chord tones from the chord that is currently being played on the backing track OR are you saying use any chord tone as long as it is from a chord in the sequence?

[/quote] I know where you are coming from but i can remember being in really busy pubs/clubs and it being really difficult to get in tune with someone who you suspect wasn't in tune in the first place. Did a recording session recently with a string section and blimey - it took ages to get a take when they were all in tune. Vibe aside they certainly save time.

Never too many Fenders. Like posters above i think of them as Jazzes and Precisions in lots of different varieties. Experimented with Precision Lytes and Jazz 24's but end up going back to the "original" models and pimp them up a bit.

What i love is when the guitar and drums are playing and it sounds ok but a bit empty. Keys maybe coming and going as is sax and other stuff. Still sounds a bit hollow. But only when the bass has come in does the song sound whole, complete and start to groove.

Found myself a teacher and it is great. Good way to supplement the stuff i am picking up from books. I found it very hard to get a decent proper bass teacher locally (within 30 miles).

Got a lot of love for Bb at the moment. Liking it a lot on first fret of A string. Was doing a track the other day live and it was very punchy.

I don't get why or how some people could do a few gigs and then hang their guitars up and retire. Really helps to have an understanding partner though.
