1. Ignore - Like - Dislike I am confused by the whole thing. I'll "like" a post but if i don't like one i'd rather tell someone or post something cos thats the kind of girl i am. I wouldn't be offended if i was on an ignore list - how would i know?
 2. Thinking about it, in the last year or so, i have bought 4 basses, 1 neck, PuPs and some other hardware from users on this site. I have had absolutely no problems with any transaction. I have downloaded a ton of practice material from The Major (legend) and been helped with recording issues. I've found someone locally that can dep for me and also been encouraged to get a teacher. From that perspective its great! Amazing. What a resource! As for other stuff i join in but don't take it too seriously. Edit for spelling
 3. For me its a minor issue. Setup is pretty easy and there are some good resources on You Tube that can help with this. I've never bought a new bass so i don't know but a badly setup bass wouldn't put me off if i really liked the bass.
 4.
As I was writing my reply to this thread Clarky, you were one of the people in my head who I had noticed were posting a lot less
I think its a good thing that people prefer to spend time with their family rather than on a forum. Just sayin.
 5. Hi guys heres me attacking my Hamer Cruise bass from all angles with total nonsense http://soundcloud.com/bottome/tune-88
 6.
I knew of the Guild B301/302 but I stumbled upon the B402-A completely by accident. I instantly wanted one. About a month later, I got one. Amazing how these things happen sometimes.
Wow. Stunning. My dad had a Guild he played in a blues band and it weighed a ton. He always talks highly of it.
 7. After years of being in the bass playing world it gets harder to be surprised cos there is only so much bass gear. Or is there? From another thread i nicked this picture as i am a bit stunned by the beauty of the black Hamer. Its the first time i have seen one of these. What basses have you stumbled upon that you never knew existed?
 8.
Sadly no but could make an interesting slant to some of the more interesting threads in Off topic. Plus I assume our double accounter was caught by using the same IP for 2 accounts. But then most people have their computer and say a smartphone with internet access. If you use one account on each device wouldn't that be harder to trace.
depends if they are using the same router to post from on the phone as they do for their computer. could be a shared ip address. For me the site works great. Apart from a couple of days where things were a bit dodgy its been fine. If it helps i run a web based application for about 4000 clients. When i have to troubleshoot individual problems (daily) it is almost always related to a problem on the user machine. I know this doesn't help Beedster or others with issues but its a fact of life that computer and software mixes are unique to a user. For example, someone on a Mac using Firefox may get different experiences to another using a PC and Internet Explorer. AV software, adware, toolbars, scans, temp files, firewalls etc. I sometimes think that its amazing that any of it works at all. If this is an "off the shelf" bit of software i would have thought that there would be a community somewhere on the net with a decent FAQ section that answers the problems that some BC users are experiencing? Or maybe BC should start one? It could go as a sticky and list some common problems and solutions? Just thinking out aloud.
 9.
You can call me Nancy if you want, doesn't bother me. I've had three Hamers in total, a white/ivory Scarab (lovely, but of its time), a Chapparal (nice but not a keeper) and an FBIV or FB4, which I still have. P
I always fancied a go on the Chapparal. I am googling the FB4 as i have never heard of it! Pics would be nice. Interested to know where you get them from as i rarely see a hamer for sale over here.
 10. tune 88 by some jazzer and Mr Magic - grover
 11. I think it was Sledgehammer, not the American cop series (which is great), but the Peter Gabriel song. The only time it sounded ok was in the studio with some effects. Playing it down the Dog and Duck through my Peavey TKO 150 wasn't quite the same
 12.
Mr Vaughan, or can I call you Roger, now that we're all cosy?
As an aside can i call you Nancy? Did you see the pics of the PBass that i (butchered) assembled? That was a relatively simple project compared to the one that Count Bassie undertook. You have to give him credit for seeing through the project and getting a result that met the criteria. When i saw your post i did think it was a bit offensive - i think his reaction was quite mild but hey its all in the past. I come on the forum to talk about bass stuff generally and the stuff about Syria and the rest went way over my head and TBH i don't want to get involved. You said you like Hamer stuff. Do you have one?
 13. (runs for cover) but really mate - chill out
so I'm pompous, arrogant and self-important. Lovely. This is precisely why I gave up posting to this forum a couple of years ago. I quit. Again. Go f*** yourself. P
i told my dad to stop posting frankly its embarrasing. PM'd about the radio thing
 14. Its a bit strange that you got the gig, i assume down to your playing, and they ask you to change style That said, i did a song recently and the guitartist suggested using a pick. He was right it sounded a lot better. Give it a go. You might like it
 15. Is the size of the sig some kind of compensation thing
 16. Horses for courses is what i would say. Each can be useful. I am enjoying fingering using my thumb on the E and A strings and fingers plucking upwards (like classical guitar) on the D and G strings. I use my palm to mute a litte bit down at the bridge. Its not suitable for all tunes but is great for other things. The advantage of this over using foam to mute is that you can easily switch the amount of pressure on the muting hand and change to other styles of playing easily. The first few bars of this song use this technique: http://soundcloud.com/bottome/i-love-dance
 17.
And what's the lucky man's name ? Garry
18. I have a bass face allegedly. One thing i know i do is if i am doing a bit of (tasteful ) slap i lift my right heel off the floor a bit. It gives me a better angle and i feel more comfortable doing it but i don't think i have seen anyone with this rather camp affliction. And before anyone asks, yes, i am married...
 19. Funny innit. You take people who are, by day, reasonable and sensible - put them in a band and they become total plonkers of the highest magnitude. Life became a lot easier as a musician when i decided to be more ruthless which meant:

Droppping projects that i thought weren't working or moving fast enough
Playing with people i might not particularly be drawn to but respect musically
Sacking people who do not pull their weight
Doing this whilst at the same time still trying to keep an element of fun has been a challenge as i am not normally decisive but has really helped my musical life. One of the most important things is to try to make sure that everyone involved has the same goals and outcomes in mind.
 20.
Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum. My name is Lee Ferguson, have been playing bass for over 20 years now and am a full time bassist and teacher. Looking forward to chatting with you all
Hello Lee, lookin sharp! You'd do better starting your own thread to introduce yourself by clicking Start New Topic. Don't worry - easily done if its all new. One other thing as there are lots of peeps who may be interested in lessons is to advertise your location. Anyway, welcome aboard and i hope you like it. Jerry
 21. Take the Sansamp out of the loop and try it at the front of your chain. I'd also say that i have only ever used the SansAmp on passive basses cos most active basses i have used were able to nail the tone i wanted with the on board preamp.
 22. Actually i re-read the comment and its confusing. I meant for the other guy to take a chill pill! Sorry if you misunderstood. Strange but i got really offended and defensive when he posted
 23.
No...!
oops
 24. Great track the Dap Kings. I use a thing called Free YouTubeToMP3Converter that i got off of Download.com Lets you specify the quality of conversion and has worked brilliantly for me (so far). A little ad pops up after each rip but takes a second to close it.
