3. Yeah I know I just would prefer a cash and collect
4. Ah ok - you don't get into central London do you?
5. RS66 Stainless for me but you have to play them for a few years to get the best sound... La Bella's were nice but as many people have mentioned, felt a little too high tension
6. Photoflame - great basses, loads in the grey burst, no many in the cherry burst colour - glwts
7. Yes - sorry always forget that bit! Thanks
8. HI second on the great unused bass clearout is my Warwick Streamer LX, Really great guitar amazing tones and feels brilliant to play, I just play my Lakland and nothing else really. 9. Hello Ok the time has come for me to get rid of the basses I don't play and get myself one that I will - I need the cupboard space! So first up in the sat gathering dust category is my 1999 Fender US Standard Jazz. Black with rosewood board (really nice rosewood it is too) Tortoiseshell and (original) white pickguards All standard, great tone and action, I'm just a P bass chap I'm afraid. Really great condition, few fine scratches on the back however has a lacquer chip by the lower neck pocket where it looks like someone pulled the very tight neck off to adjust it at some point a bit carelessly. Annoying as otherwise it would be pretty much mint. Anyway - I'll drop some more pics and the weight up when I get back from work later but £550 seems a fair price. I can post it in a hardcase for a few extra squids if needed. 10. So if you can get that lot in a ford ka.....anyone use either a Fiat 500 abath or Mini Cooper? Evil plot hatching for next car......
11. Yes I've seen a few of these over the years - I have the normal pink one - I've also seen a silver one as well and a black one. If it's anything like mine it'll be a great bass - sod to set up though with thin frets but fab when done
12. We used visionbackdrops.com (in Germany I think it was s couple of years ago), great service - 4m by 2m lightweight screen print was about £200 - fireproof as well
13. I think as well as that the prices have reached the stage where it wouldn't be worth taking the bass out to a gig and risking it - my general rule is up to about a grand is something I'd take and use - over that becomes something I'd leave at home in safety and that means it becomes a whole lot harder for me to justify
14. I used to use a Carlsbro Stingray 90W head and a 4x12 Selmer cab - it was trouser flapping loud but run at 80% to get over the marshalls thst the guitarists used. The main issue wasn't the volume it was getting it up and down the stairs in my mum and dads house - it might have been lighter if it had been made of depleted uranium to be honest bloody thing! Anyway we used to play miles louder on those days but couldn't actually hear anything - vocals were always the issue and probably one of the reasons I can sing in tune without hearing myself these days - we had no choice!
15. I've used Dunlop tortex .60 picks for about 30 years now, thinner picks give you a lot more flexibility in rhythm and tone I think. I normally hold the pick between thumb and first finger not in a fist but at 90 degrees to each other if that makes sense. The main thing for me is getting that sharp fast changing rhythm. You can also try ukulele leather picks if you want a different effect
16. Video Killed the Radio Star - Buggles That song by Plastic Bertrand that I can't pronounce as I don't speak French Pray - Jaron and the Long Road to Love The Way - Fastball
17.
Most big names who have come here seem to have taken offence very quickly and left
I've just thought of another claim to fame! I'm on the same forum as one of my heroes - Neil Murray - sorted now. Now I just need him to post saying how great my playing is and 30 years work will all seem worthwhile
18. Saxon Hammersmith Odeon, Innocence is no excuse tour - 1985 - Ears ringing for days so loudly I couldn't sleep
19. Jeez! Ok ok! I'll cheer up and carry on - can't a person be an abject failure and fed up around here? Seriously - thanks, that's really helped - and I have enjoyed things and still do, have made some lifelong friends - oh and got a mention in the official Spinal Tap movie companion book. That's not bad for 20,000 hours work is it?!
20. Something that's been depressing me lately. It seems everyone I speak to (whether they still play or not) regales me of stories of playing huge gigs, playing on telly, being a member of some band that supported the Beatles or the Who or something, having albums out - everthing like that Me, I've been playing for 30 years this year and I have exactly zero claims to fame, no success, no albums, no support slots - 30 years of gigs to a few people, sometimes a few hundred, but that's it. Maybe I should take the hint :|
21. Another vote for Stacy's mum by Fountains of Wayne (or BFS's cover of it) Boys of Summer (cover of Henley's song) by the Ataris as well would be cool
22. i had a 2B for a few years, great bass - brilliant neck and a bargain price usually
23. Its the 54 body but a CIJ tribute to the 60s Paisley Telebass - I've the pink paisley version of this - great bass and surprising variation in sound - Also a sod to set up due to the heel end truss adjustment and the small size fret wire but once done an utter joy to play, really great necks.
