  1. THIS BASS IS SOLD! Vintage 1965/66 Jazz Bass - Unbound Neck w/ Lollipop Tuners 100% Original w/ Original "No Logo" Case Stunning example of a 1965/66 "transition model" Jazz Bass, still with most of the pre-CBS appointments.. the main one being the unbound Brazilian rosewood neck.. with some cool '66 features too, like the lollipop tuners! Fantastic player, great tone, and 100% original down to the last screw! Ser. #: 129XXX on (very early) "F" series neck plate. The neck plate and body also have a matching residue "footprint" to show they have always been together. Neck Stamp: "7 AUG 65 A". The body also has clear "paint stick" mark in the neck pocket, as well as the appropriate nail hole next to the pocket (not done anymore after 1965). Pot Codes: All 3 are matching CTS pots and all stamped the 9th week of 1966. Original capacitor. Pickups: Correct green bobbins, original copper-colored, heavy Formvar windings, and the typical handwriting on the bottoms. All solder joints are 100% original and untouched. Original cloth wiring throughout. The neck still has all the wonderful feel of a pre-CBS Fender! Beautiful, dark Brazilian rosewood fretboard and pearl dots. Original vintage-size "banjo" frets. Neck is very straight and the truss rod works fine. I have never felt a nicer vintage Jazz neck! Thin, pre-CBS profile, and the original nitro finish on the back of the neck has caramelized with age/play wear, so it has that comfy worn-in feel that just can't be simulated. The neck has a few minor dings here and there, but nothing noticeable while playing. The headstock decal is original like everything else.. even the nut is original (and in good shape too). The original 3-tone sunburst finish is still very colorful and vibrant, with that beautiful yellow in the center. It has the normal dings, scratches, finish wear and checking one would expect for a 50 year old instrument, but it's in all the right places for a well-played and well-loved vintage bass that didn't sat in a closet all its life! No mods, No repairs, No extra screw holes or routes, No issues whatsoever. The pickguard has some shinkage and a little bit of warpage, but no cracks, and all the holes still line up. The underside of the pickguard is pretty clean, so it was probably removed from the bass for some time, but it's absolutely original (and is one of the best looking '60s torts I've seen). This bass is very lightweight too at 8.4 lbs! Includes the original "no logo" black tolex hard shell case in very good condition for its age also. Orig Pickup covers and thumb rest. This is a premium vintage bass, the action VERY low, no dead notes anywhere, and the playability is boutique quality. I have a lot more pics of this bass too, please send me a message if you'd like to see them all, and I'll give you the link. Thanks for looking!

  4. Mayby 2000£ is to much, I've played and own several 60 's jazz bases and believe me this is one hell of a player! But I hear you about the second hand value, The guy that's selling is a drummer and his father was a bass player ,bought the bass brand new 1968, it's been in the family all these years, quite a history in this bass which I like:) now when he's father past away he's selling it so he can buy equipment to his studio, he knows nothing about bass guitars so he didn't know anything about the routing, Well it's up to me now haha, I will give him an offer and then will see, Thanks again regarding this body routing /P
  5. Thanks everyone , it's a really great playing bass and mayby i'l take it if I can get it down to 2000£ Thanks again //P
  6. Need some expert help with a 1968 fender jazz bass , Great playing bass that I'm about to buy, When I moved the pick guard I noticed that the body been routed with a battery cavity (see attached pic )sometime during the 80's I guess , Is there a general price drop when it comes to the value of a vintage bass like this when it has been routed ?? I can also say that the orig pickups are long gone, The electronic has been changed to new cts pots, Pickup chrome covers are gone, otherwise all orig, But it is a great playing bass and should be worth around 2400£ without the battery routing, What do you think??
  7. Thanks , that explains it, I have also only seen earlier cases but never this One with the silver plate, thanks again
  8. Need some expert help about a brown/beige fender jazz bass case from 1968, This case is from the orig owner of the bass and says he bought it 1968, wasn't all cases from '68/'69 black?? This looks like pre cbs case to me but I have never seen that silver plate with fender written in blue text,
