  1. Just sold Stew my Trace Elliot cabs. Top guy to deal with, as his extensive feedback attests to. Deal with complete confidence. Came up a way to meet me, which was really good of him as most people make me practically drop stuff off at their door! 😂 Thanks Stew! Enjoy the cabs!
  2. Sold Nick my Ibanez bass yesterday. Easy to deal with and a nice guy to boot. Deal with complete confidence. Cheers Nick!
  3. Quite right you are. Not sure how i missed that - likely because I had a 1005sms prior to this. Edited!
  4. Hi all! Here we have my Ibanez EHB1005 bass in Pink. Although it's actually a bit darker than Pink and has a nice pearlescent effect. Condition wise it's unmarked and near mint aside from the locking tab having previously been removed on the input jack. Bought this a few months back as I needed a back up bass at the time, and truth be told, I've played it maybe 5/6 times since then. It's also currently strung up with Flatwounds, although you can use any bass string you like on these as Ibanez don't require specialist short scale strings, you just load up and snip any excess length past the post. It's a short scale 30" length bass that weighs a scarcely believable 3kg on the nose and is supremely comfortable to play. American Basswood Body 5-piece Roasted Maple and Walnut neck, with Roasted Birdseye Maple fingerboard. Electronics are Bartolini BH2 humbuckers mated to a 3 band active EQ with Active/Passive switch (treble works as a tone control in passive mode). Midrange control is a vari-band EQ, so you can dial in or out any midrange frequency you like. Comes with the Ibanez case, manual, tools and ramp. All in all a really nice little bass that'd do anyone on longer gigs really well. I'm based in Moreton in the Marsh in Gloucestershire - happy to travel a fair distance for handover if you're further afield, as my feedback attests. Apologies, I can't post as i just don't have the materials to do so. Thanks for looking! 😁
  5. Hi all, Here we have my Trace Elliot 2x8 cabinets. 2x8 inch Faital Pro speakers. 400w power handling. Front ported. 12.5kg weight each. Neutrik Jack & 1/4 speaker cable connectors. I wanted this particular set up for a long time and it didn't disappoint. These replaced a BB3 and are far superior and louder (as a 4x8 vertical array). They're a lightweight, easy one hand lift. One of them on its own, was enough for some pub/bar gigs I've done recently. I've used 2 for most of my large function gigs and they were incredibly capable, with the added bonus of really being able to hear your sound on stage easily. Both cabs are in 8/10 condition with a couple of small marks on each. Comes with a padded cover for one of them (that I've alternated! 😂). £470 for the pair. No offers please. Based in Moreton in Marsh in Gloucestershire, but will travel a fair distance for a meet up/handover, as my feedback attests to. No postage. Thanks for looking!

    Mark Bass hate

My experience, in short - heads, fabulous, and cabs not so good. I currently own a LM4 and previously had the LM2. They have a nice, gentle warmth to them and a musical mid-range, giving an almost recorded-like tone in a live environment. Cabs wise, I had the NY122 and then, briefly, a 410. I found them flat sounding, with very little dynamism (for want of a better phrase) and the tweeters were *horrible*. Very quacky sounding and sounded more like a high-mid control than true ice-pick treble! YMMV, etc.
  7. Glorious! I know this is probably going to be too heavy for my dodgy shoulder, but can I ask the weight?
  8. I've only ever bought a cab from them - and they were fab to deal with - another high profile Bass shop could learn a lot from them. However, I never really consider them when looking for basses as, personally, I find them really expensive compared to other Bass-centric stores, especially so on their used gear (although I appreciate this might be commission sales dictating this).
  9. Yes. I've had one for a year now. A truly excellent amplifier. It has that Markbass sound in spades (clean with that mid-range warmth) to mark (ha!) it out from the norm. I use it to drive two 400watt Trace Elliot ELF 2x8 cabinets and I've played some big shows with it, with no issues with volume or clarity at volume.
  10. Rare - 9 times out of 10 (there are exceptions) it's not even remotely 'rare'.
  11. Just bought Steve's Ibanez EHB1000s. Item as described and a great price too! As I was in a rush to get a backup bass for a weekender with multiple gigs scheduled, he offered to meet me some of the distance to help me out with time saving - doesn't get nicer than that really! Deal with confidence. Cheers Steve!
  12. For me, there are players I don't like, but it doesn't invalidate them at all. Lots of different bass players speak to different people in different ways. Saying that, for what it's worth, and to contradict myself immediately, I just don't get 'Julia Plays Groove' amongst others. Playing someone else's songs (well), but that's it. I've seen hundreds of bass players on YouTube do the *exact* same thing, often better, but don't receive this weird fawning (I suspect I know the reason).
  13. Such sad news. I sold Nick my Fender Marcus Miller and had a great chat with him about dogs - he loved his dogs. R.I.P Nick.
  14. They aren't taking orders at the moment (haven't for about a year now, in an effort to bring down the wait time, which will just go straight back up as soon as they open up again). Price-wise, the base MK2 was over £7000 at the time they closed orders.
  15. Not to sound like I'm criticizing anyone's personal choices of venues, or where their bands play, but this is precisely why I stopped doing pub gigs. Functions/weddings still have twits, but IME, you don't really get that menacing 'anything could happen' vibe with them.
  16. Ahhh man, hope you get better soon! The worst thing about it is, the SAME thing happened last year at the Guitar show, and to amplify that even further it was my birthday today! So, I've spent two years in a row, lying in bed with the lurgy, on my Birthday! The things we do for Bass, huh?!
  17. I was there working one of the stands opposite Yamaha/Ampeg, a really good event on the whole, although I've picked up Guitar Show lurgy. Bass Highlights of the weekend were without question @Manton CustomsParadigm bass with the twin Nordstrands. Don't think I've ever heard such a burpy, funky machine! An excellent thing at a really fair price. Then, the Reverend Triad Bass that was tucked away on their stand, which I fell in love with. So many tonal options, all of which were useful, surprisingly! On a plus note, despite being opposite Ampeg, I didn't hear any of the usual s*ite, obnoxious, attention seeking noodle slap until right at the death on the Sunday!
  18. For me, load in issues can make or break a gig, the whole band take it really seriously when taking prospective gigs on. If it's going to be an issue, we turn down the booking. The worst offenders I've experienced are without doubt Bristol (the absolute s******) and Oxford. You can't get a car anywhere near where you need to be.
  19. I was eyeing this one up on FB (the ad put me off a bit)- congrats! Looks AWESOME!
  20. They're nice basses in isolation (I have an early Rockbass Streamer 5) but they share very little in common with the real deal. Build and tonally. So, don't go in thinking you're getting the Warwick sound, but what it is instead, is very nice in of itself.
  21. Canva absolutely gets my vote for this. I've always used it for logos and album design. It's super simple to use as well.
  22. Warwick, keeping you in the ecosystem! 🤣 I've only ever used Red Labels, and Yellow (when they existed), and found the Reds very rough, but the Yellows were nicely pliable. Where do Black labels fall in this spectrum for feel?

    Peak Wal?

Power Windows by Rush. To me, Geddy gets the purest approximation of a Wal sound on record.
  24. Hello all! I've had a fair few Warwicks over the years, but never an older (pre 00's) 5 String. The bridge on my 95 Streamer Bolt-On has narrower channels on the anchor points, but especially the B, which is proving very problematic, meaning I can't just slap any old strings on it. Stopping short of filing it, or 'crimping' existing strings, does anyone know of have experience of what brands (aside from Warwick themselves) have tapered B's or would fit? It's weirdly proving quite difficult to find this info on bass shops, online. Thanks in advance!

    Peak Wal?

This is exactly how I feel about Wal. I was 'this' close to pulling the trigger on a MK1 order a couple of years ago, when they were under 5k. Now you can't order them, the wait time would be 4 years anyway and the prices are utterly astronomical. I know Wal can do what they like and they have their market, yadda yadda, but I can't deny it's infuriating to have a British bass design icon slowly move further and further out of reach of all but the most wealthy. I also know they have zero 'need' to, but I'd love for them to license the design and produce a model built somewhere else for half the price, ala Spector and the Czech Euros. As it stands they have a (generally speaking) specific market of over 50's and Tool fans. When they're all gone, or the market falls on it's arse for them, who's interested in buying them next?
