1. Just acquired an Aguilar TLC from Mick. Great to deal with, very smooth transaction and plenty of messages etc. Item exactly as described. Highly recommended.
2. Just sold my Hartke Bass Attack to Jon. Excellent comms throughout, quick payment. Seems to be a very dependable person. Enjoy the pedal, I hope it does the job for you.

We're back...

Brilliant work, thanks very much to all the techies who understand this stuff. It's a black art to me although I can do RPN on on old style HP calculator! p.s. I'm liking the CTRL F5 thing, must try to remember that one.
4. Sold pending the usual heads of agreement, searches and contracts.
5. This pedal is for sale as it gets very little use as I now DI out the back of my amp if I need to. Hopefully the images show the great condition of the pedal. The original packaging is in pretty good shape and the original instruction manual is also included. If you require any further pictures of any specific details please just ask. I will also answer any questions you have as fully as my knowledge lets me. I'm looking for £55 posted in the UK. Here are a few pictures:

8. I'm a subscriber and will continue to be one as for me there are are more pluses than minuses. Hoever like most commercial things the mag will stand or fall on it's sales and advertising revenue. If the circulation drops then advertisers will be less interested etc and the vicious circle begins. If the readership want change they should write to the editor in a constructive way and eventually, if there is a body of opinion, I'm sure changes would be made. I do think that there should be more reviews of basses people can actually afford and more "group tests". More fretless stuff too. I quite enjoy the few pages on bands that I've not hear of, the Barefaced column and the woodshop interviews. I'm actually less bothered about the bass establishment interviews as it seems to me not much new comes out each time.
9.
Are any other Contemporary J users having issuses with exceptoonally noisy actives (almost like something is breaking down) or is it just me.
Sorry to hear that. Not noticed this on my bass. The only issues I have found after about a year of use are that the frets on the G string side of the 'board were a teeny bit proud and the jack socket seems to prefer straight jack leads, my OBBM sourced right angled jack sometimes needs a little wiggle?
10. I fitted a P Retro to my MIM Precision, different bass for sure but plenty of room. Very impressive piece of kit, I particularly enjoyed the additional control over the mids.
11. Just fitted a JZ3 to my Fender fretless. Still noodling and fiddling with the settings but overall very impressed. Re the OP I've found that with the Z-mode switch to Low (pointing to the neck), and treble wound off a bit, mids neutral or backed off a bit and the balance about 30% towards the neck pickup delivers a pretty sweet and smooth tone. Maybe the fretlessness and flats helps though...Not where I'll be leaving it but one of the things I tried out.
12. Yeah, like the Canterbury scene alot.

15. Here are a couple of bikes that the kids have grown out of. I did try to part exchange them against a new bike, but despite being in decent condition (our kids are in love with cars and they were only ridden on the odd occasion when we were able to drag the kids out in the summer), the shop really wasn't keen as they are around 4 to 5 years old. Both need a service and possible new inner tubes, but other than that I think they're fine. If you would like one or both of them FOC please feel free to PM me. Collection from Chorley, or can meet up as long as it's not too far away. Here's one And the other If you'd like more pics or more details please just ask!
16. Very nice looking bass in the makiing. Keep the pics coming...
17. There's a set of Wizard 84s on my f/l Jazz that are really rather nice, but not sure how to describe the tone. A bit darker maybe, definitely higher output.
18. Do Newtone make flats? Couldn't see any evidence on the website.
19.
Since I can't get hold of the "right" gauges in the D'Addario Chrome flats I'm going to try a set of Thomastik JF344 that get a bit closer to balanced tension at 43-56-70-100 to see if my fingers find it easier to deal with - if only the A had been 75...
I've had these on the fretless for a couple of weeks now, reset the intonation, and the difference is definitely noticeable compared to my other bass that is strung with a "standard" gauge strings. Feels easier to play across strings - I'd really advise giving a balanced tension set of strings a go next time you are due to change a set of strings.
20. I'm not sure if there are any pics of me in my BC polo will ask the band WAGs to check. I'm not convinced that there is a camera strong enough to avoid self-destructing when seeking to take a pic of my countenance though I'm a bass palyer for radio listeners I fear - deaf ones at that

ACG build

I feel you may have me confused with somebody else there Peter...and after a brief bit of googling I now see why! I have inadvertently become associated with Extended Audio Design, but sadly our only common theme appears to be Chorley as I'm a Barefaced abuser, although I did enjoy playing through Alan's EAD cab.

ACG build

Well this is my first custom build (Mrs ead has helpfully pointed out that it may coincidentally be my last too ). I went up to Moffat on Friday where Alan very kindly spent a lot of time with me offering helpful advice and generally being very patient. What a top bloke, so easy to deal with and made the whole process very enjoyable and informative. The final spec is as follows: 4-string Fretless (unlined) J Type Custom (nearly went for a Finn, but Alan's Jazz body felt slightly more comfortable when I was trying out a few of his excellent basses before making my choices). Body: Butternut, with Mahogany top and a Sycamore accent Neck: 5 piece Maple/Wenge F/B: Al Mec Ebony 20" radius Pickups: 2 x Humbuckers EQ: ACG EQ03 A/P (awesome bit of kit that I feel I will need to "grow into") Brass bridge, black hardware I'll update with pics etc as and when they are available.
23. +1 for Thomastiks, I've a set of their flats on a fretless and they sound good. I don't think they're tapewound as it looks like there are thin dark lines following the winding so possibly ground wounds? I've nothing to look at them close up, but that's what they look like...
