Also add Louis Johnson on the Brothers Johnson album Blam from 1978. Every track with a stingray. High in the mix. Reason I bought a ray in the first place. Somebody mentioned Kim Clarke of Defunkt. Check out In America album.

He was better in the 70s. All the Dan (post 1977) and solo stuff (with the exception of Kamakiriad - his best solo work imo) sounds too controlled and a bit lifeless personally. Lack of vibrancy and general spark

Hi, took my Stingray 5 (recently acquired on ebay for £650 !!) to its first rehearsal last night - what a great bass. Superb B 3rd attempt at a 5 string. 1st was a Ken Smith Burner bought on this very forum. Great bass but 16mm string spacing was a no go. Off loaded to the Gallery. 2nd was a Tobias Killer B (also bought here). Much better string spacing (17.5mm) but never got used to small body shape which made playing while sitting awkward. Just picked up a 8.5lb stingray 5. Will add photos shortly plus my two stingray 4s for good measure
