  1. Great stuff!! will be adding some vids soon
  2. Looking at most Alembics, including my former Essence, they all appear to have bridges that are placed a bit too forward. If the bridge was even an inch back, may be it would help the balance
  3. Quite a small body (bottom half based on the short scale SC bass I believe) coupled with the bridge placed a good few inches from body end = neck dive unfortunately. I would have kept it otherwise
  4. Essence 5 that I had for 6 months before moving on to a Ken Smith. Sounded great. Top line luthery. Let down by severe neck dive
  5. Hi Palle, Back in the mists of time, did you also post on the dudepit? There was a guy there who had an impressive collection of cutlass basses Will dig out my own photos later Cheers
  6. How is everyone doing with their Moogs? With no rehearsals or gigs, I am just working on the synth. So glad I got a 3 octave keyboard (Little Phatty). Already learned Bruno Mars 24k Magic, Finesse (need 3 octaves for that), Tuxedo (Fux with the Tux & U like it), Jamiroquai (Deeper Underround) and Herbie Hancock (Steppin' in it). Next is Stevie Wonder - Too High, Weeknd - in your eyes and some Dua Lipa Trying the match the original sounds is learning process in itself!
  7. Got a status neck fitted to a stingray years ago. Will add photos later. kept it for about a year then went back to original wooden neck. At the time had 2 stingrays. One original and other with status neck. The status neck sounded and felt great. But it was noisy or my technique was crap. Hammer ons and offs always created unwanted overtones and fret clank. Nothing on the wooden one. So sold it and went back to wood.
  8. Buy a little phatty on eBay. It’s the only way
  9. Cool thread. Takes me back to when I saw them on mother’s milk tour in Glasgow QMU. He was playing the black rosewood stingray. Crazy gig.
  10. Sadly not. I was watching that one but went a bit crazy on an earlier auction. Very pleased with it though. It’s in amazing condition complete with manual and also has the CVs Out factory mod. I considered a Sub 37, Grandmother and B Poly D too. In the end went for a Little Phatty as it has presets and the Sub looked like a steep learning curve for a synth newbie, with loads of controls. Next step is to learn to play. Deeper Underground, some Dua Lipa, Doja Cat - say so, etc and the reason I bought a synth in the first place - Herbie Hancock :Steppin in It
  11. How about a presonus Atom? Just bought one recently. It’s a very good controller with after touch
  12. Just bought a moog little phatty stage II. It’s great fun
  13. Nice sub37. I'm waiting for the Behringer Poly D
  14. Thanks guys for all your help Consequently I’m definitely leaning towards the sub phatty with the Behringer model D in reserve. If I can find a cheap 2nd sub 37 on eBay or whatever might go for that as an alternative.
  15. Hi, about to buy my first synth. Originally was thinking of synth bass only so angling towards sub phatty or model D. Just come across Deepmind 6. 37 keys. Poly. Could it be a cheap solution covering synth bass and much more.
  16. Great thread. Also check out the band tuxedo for some great nu disco synth bass
  17. Hi, does anyone know if having silver birch is a good idea for a top wood? thanks
  18. Has anyone got “Lookin’ fur Linda”?
  19. "But who would that benefit? " The members that are genuinely trying to sell. There seems to be some "sellers" that set an unrealistic price, do not reduce it, and bump it overy few days for months on end. It clogs up the board. I don't think its fair or right on everyone else.
  20. Personally I think its ok to make comments on sale threads especially if you know from direct experience that the price is way out of line. Case in point, the guy trying to shift a Ken Smith 5 string fretless. Been up for sale for 9 months or so. Can we not time restrict items for sale? For example if not sold during 6 months or whatever then ad is taken off?
  21. They have one of these at the Museum of Music in Paris in the 19th. V interesting place to visit, especially as they regularly demonstrate the various instruments
