1. I'd really like that DP150 that's up for sale in the classified, but can't spring the extra 30 quid.
2. Thanks guys. I did try google, but it didn't turn up anything that I could distinctly recognise as what I thought it should be. I'll give it another go in a mo.
3. I've been offered on at a decent price, but I've a feeling it's actually the PL100 guitar combo, and not the bass amp (I haven't seen it yet). Can't find much info on the net about it - does anyone know if they actually made a 100watt bass combo in the 80s/ear;y 90s and if it was any good.
4. I don't know about the 325a, but the pot impedance is 50K ohms. Taper type is denoted by the B (I think B is log taper, but I can't remember for certain right now).
5. You could try Since You Been Gone, for a Purple/Rainbow connection.
6. I have one with Transient attack on it too - no idea where it was made though. Seems like a good amp, and with lots of tonal flexibility it's very adaptable.
7. I was looking at those last night, although I think I'd prefer one of the lighter bodies he sells.
8. Have a look in the classifieds section, though you may struggle a little to get 100 watts for that much.
9. I have one of these stashed away w/o the amp part. Various bits are now a little old and can't cope any more, but it's a good 1X12 cab.
10. I reckon it's well worth making the change. I have a super-cheap J type here that I popped at set of Fender Geddy Lee PUs in, and it transformed the tone.
11. I bought a speaker from them once, and they were helpful, pleasant and quick. They charge a premium price, but do seem to provide a premium service.
12. Maybe. Do you use the tone control at all? A bigger value will allow it to sound a bit brighter when on 10, and a lower value will be just like your existing pot turned down a bit. It won't make the bass sound *different*, but it might give you more of the same.
13.
It surprises me that the tone of so many views on here is so suspicious of PRS, it is basically a collection service for musicians, and to that extent is a service that deals with an area that is fraught with difficulty: the collection of monies arising from the usage of intellectual property, I think that perhaps some of the less generous commentators should have a look at the service that PRS provide for the industry before posting on here with tales of what demonic oligarchs that sip champagne from the bellies of virgins whilst draped in swan feather nightgowns run the organisation.
I suspect many see the PRS as part of the system that is killing off live music through draconian licensing. I'm not suggesting this is a correct view, but I can certainly see how this might arise. The UK seems to have become increasingly unfriendly toward live music.
14. Another vote for the pitchblack here - great tuner that's small, well built and accurate. Flexible too, with it's option to mute or pass sound through, and daisy chain power socket.
15.
Who is he ?
An American that can't play bass, but can apparently do anything else. If they're good I usually watch in amazement, and if they're bad (bum notes/bad timing) then I curl up inside and sometimes outside if they're really bad. Whether I'd tell them they were bad is another matter: if they were good I'd want to talk with/complement them, but otherwise I'd probably walk away. It's very difficult to provide critique of another musician in a way that doesn't either discourage them or make them defensive and angry.
16. I've had some great deals with guys in the US, even to the point of one storing a guitar for several months for me before shipping in order to tie together transportation. I did also get stiffed by one over a pickup, but that was an isolated incident. It often helps if they 'know' you from a forum.
17. I have one just like this - works well as a replacement for the BBOT on my J type.
18. I'd be inclined to try the 125ESE first. A 12AY7 or 12AU7 would be a good replacement preamp valve too. There's quite a lot of mods you might make, but I'd suggest looking at the 'fenderish' versions to bass your amp on, but with less -ve feedback (the version I tried from turretboards.com had way too much -ve feedback).
19. $17 + shipping cheap enough? http://www.webstrings.com/flatwound_bass_strings.html I have a set here, but haven't tried them yet. Their roundwound strings are some of the most abrasive I've used so far, but sound good (to me).
20. Would you still be willing to post it & what do you think it would cost? Sorry to ask about a deal you're basically not making anything on.
21.
Unfortunately it took a fall, and the headstock snapped off. So its now FREE to collector or its going to the tip.
How bad is the break? Many pieces or a clean snap and no missing fragments? Thanks
22. How acoustically loud is the jazz box? I have a friend who wants an acoustic guitar, and is on a tight budget - this might be a better option than something truly acoustic.
