1.
I've played them and thought they were good... but they sound 'NEO' to me...in that they have that same sort of 'harsh' mid prominece which I don't really favour..not that kind a sound to my ear.
I agree. I think it helps if you are careful with the positioning (due to back reflex) of the cab to the back wall. To be honest, I am much happier with the cheaper (albeit heavier), much more balanced (though modern sounding) and European, Vanderkley 112EXT
 2. Nice one Mudpup !! Although, to me at least, Big Babe looks sexy even when it's naked and single.
 3. Last week I had the chance to get my hands (and ears) on a BB2 as part of a test/review of 1x12s we are doing here in Greece. This must be one of the first (if not the first) Barefaced cab (let alone BB2) this side of Mediterranean and I can not thank Alex enough for this opportunity. I would not like to go into details yet but since it was brought up as a thread, I thought it is good chance to give my (rather epigrammatic) initial observations. Please note that we received a pre-production model therefore, please take my comments with a grain of salt.

The cab is light. Alex has used very thin (1 cm !!) plywood throughout but the (at last !!) extensive and carefully placed bracing, choices that point to a well designed cab. There are lighter 12” cabs but none that I know of with that size and spl ability like BB2.

The star of the show is the 12” driver with its extensive frequency range (you got to love those lows), leaving the Faital to handle the frequencies that no hairy-chested bassist should care for . Interesting and serious crossover and certainly not a quicky single cap/resistor job.

It can certainly handle small to medium gigs. In any case, when more dbs are needed, I am usually patched through my amp (pre-di) to gig's main console, leaving the cab as monitor.

Alex, I agree with Merton that black screws on the drivers basket is a must. I also have couple suggestions about the T-nuts... Rubber feet in two adjacent sides is a very nice touch but the handles should follow on both opposite sites. The attenuator can be dialed even with boxing gloves on. Nice change from the usually puny knobs. Even with the added 1 kg, I would take the metallic grill over the cloth one, any day.
That's it for now and when we finalise testing and recording samples, I ll let you know (if you care of course) about more details. Cheers
 4.
looks like EAD are no longer in production too.
Thank you MilkyBarKid. Added to (the quite few) changes and additions of the list.

 6.
Bill Fitzmaurice count? (BFM) technically not manufacturers though :/
With all due respect to BFM (as well as to fEARful) designs, this list is about cab makers.
 7. Thanks !! Added all of them except HH which doesn't seem to have any cabs (not combos).
 8. Hi, Continuing the "panorama" (maybe not the best description but I like it) series that was initiated in this thread (http://basschat.co.u...-manufacturers/) for pickups, I thought it would be a nice idea to have all cab manufacturers in a single list. Most probably not a complete list but, I would like to believe, a quite comprehensive one from all over the world. If you know something more, please feel free to add. 9.
"I'd better move all my basses from the garden shed .....
......to a sunny place, to the borders of southeastern Europe where they 'll get the warm treatment and respect of the people that live there." Excellent idea. Do you want me to handle it ? Absolutely gorgeous Si.
 10. My trusty AKG-D5 (much better in feedback resistance onstage than the ever-present Shure) in the small upper pocket of the bass bag. In the big pocket, the playlist, lyric cheat sheets (hey, 's not easy to remember all those songs while playing, singing, drinking and posing), couple of xlrs with a Boss VE-20 as a handy (or footy ) eq, reverb, compression, volume because you can't really trust the sound wizard's apprentice when he dissapears in the middle of the gig or he gives you the thumbs up while he drinks thinking that all the angry signals you 're giving him about the voice sound, is part of the show. Genz Benz streamliner with the Zoom B3, couple vocalzones (although a shot of whiskey before the start of the gig does the same trick), my flat cap (saves me from blindness since I sweat a lot and hair have departed long time ago so nothing -but the flat cap- stops sweat from getting in my eyes when I play ) and couple small bottles of water (when on stage) all in the tank bag in front of the bike, a well strapped 1x12 on the back of the bike (if the guys have refused to get it in the van) and who said that bassists/singers cant' t be mobile ?
 11. Looks really nice. But to be honest, without being an expert, I seriously doubt it, judging by the looks of it (as well as date/country of origin), whether the body is of swamp ash.
 12. Andy, it has been a week since I' ve sent the money and I've heard nothing from you. A single response that you have shipped the pickups (or any response for that matter) would do wonders to ease my worries.
 13.
Scruffy but functional hard case included, UK only, sorry no PAINPal.
This beauty should be available to the whole world (well, Europe at least) On the other hand, one temptation less .... Good luck with the sale.
 14. Not much of imagination in my try, I know, but I really like it ! I would want a jazz pup at the back (or a MM) but I can't align it. I was wondering....Does this software increases or fights the GAS ? It's nice nonetheless. I really like it
 15.
Cracking bass, just prefer the thinner neck of the SB14.
Cracking bass indeed. Excellent quality. One of the best I' ve ever owned and tried. And personally, I love the neck. Not thin, not very chunky. Not a P (42) nut nor jazz (38) but in between (40). Good luck.
 16. I have an Aerodyne Classic Precision Special (the actual complete title ) bass as well. Got it couple years ago in here from a fellow BassChatter (thanks Chris). A wonderful bass. A P and a J but also with a twist. A relatively light bass but (relatively) heavy in sound. I still have the original pups (with 45-105 Infeld Superalloys) on it but there was a small but noticeable difference when I changed the neck one to a Wizard trad. and the bridge to a Fender Noiseless. For some uknown reason that I am still trying to expain to myself (but he is so thick that he doesn't get it) I swithtched back to the originals. They are not bad at all, if somewhat aggresive as the previous posters mentioned but usually that doesn't bother me at all. What bothers me is the binding, although adds to the looks, makes the positioning of the forearm on the upper cut a bit painfull after a while. It bothers me that the bridge is recessed to the body so altenative bridge options are limited It bothers me that the pot cavity is shallow and can accomodate only mini pots. It bothers me that looks very posh and glossy and oppreses the (few at my age remaining traces of the) punk rock care-no-less-for-bumps-and-such attitude. But it is a light, quite resonant bass with wonderful curves and trully excellent fit and finish (although I would paint the back of the body with solid colour since basswood isn't really a visually beautiful wood for see-through choices). Special mention goes to the excellent neck with a nut of 40mm (between jazz & p) with substantial girth (but not annoyingly so for us finger-length challenged pretend-to-be players). Good quality rosewood, satin finish and similarly with the body painted headstock, complete the picture. Could use slightly better tuners though. All in all, to me at least, a beautiful bass. Just my 2 eurocents (and that's all I have left)
 17.
Not sure about Jazz basses and Precisions with EMG's, seems you guys want trad when using them. If you want trad stay away from the EMG's. 40DC soapbar active EMG's are the best pickups I've used of that style so far. Better than Bartolinis and Nordstrands IMO. I have no idea what this stigma of "soulless" or "use by skill-less player" is, I really don't they are a pickup and that's that. To me they deliver some of the most crushing tone and output but at the end of the day it's my hands that play the damn thing, not the pickups. :-P

I guess it depends on what you need from an EQ. The EMG system is transparent and 'colourless' tonally, only providing boost and cut to the frequencies specified in the spec sheet. Therefore, if you send it a bland signal, then that's what you'll get out of it. If you replace it with a certain well known preamp that has a lot of colouring in it, then the EMG will sound flat in comparison.
Couldn't agree more. Currently I am using a 40P5 in the neck and a 40DC in the bridge position (in order to have an "illusion" of a PJ bass) paired with a EMG BTS preamp on a Custom Landing medium scale and I am more than happy with them. I did not get them for their vintage character and I definitely not getting any of it. I wouldn't call them soul-less (since the soul comes out of the music you make) but I would characterise them somehow HiFi-ish (not in a British but rather in a more American way that pays attention to treble and bass and a tad less in that magic midrange). They are pretty versatile paired with a good preamp but they usually need some eq fiddling to shine in the band (since, on their own, they sound better than vintage pups). The good thing is that they eventually, (almost) always blend in nicely (unlike some one trick -arguably the best trick - pony gorgeous vintage flatwounded p-basses) no matter the occasion. Although they rarely require battery change, I am not that comfortable that I would be force to change while tuning before a live performance. Never happened though. It's true that 18V provide you with more headroom but I wouldn't go as far as calling them rubbish with 9v. I never tried them with 27V... As for cliches such as "Batteries belong in flashlights", I leave them to manufacturers that a)can not learn new tricks and b ) do not have active pups in their range (either by choice and/or by inability to produce them). My 2 eurocents.....
 18. Benedetti & Shed added. Next stop is 80. Thank you for your help.
 19.
The rest of the Bass is unbelievable - at any price - action, weight, balance, intonation, etc, etc - but the pickups could be a tad lacking in output?
Some of the best pickups I 've heard (the latest a pair on a MIA 62RI) were very (if not extremely) low in output.
 20.
If Status did a 32 inch replacement graphite neck I'd be all over that like a rash on a whore
Status (me thinks) has an option for 32" in the Mark King signature. Never seen one but the rumour has it that Moses has a custom option for 32" in bass graphite necks.
 21.
Only problem with all these hollowbodies - as much as I'm sure they sound great - I can also imagine the neck dive.
Neck dive is a matter of balance. (Semi) Hollow bodies with blocks, pups, bridges and electrics can be heavier than solid ones.
I'm thinking about routing out a hole in my Squier Jazz and sticking a Gibbo-style mudbucker in there. I'm pretty terrible at doing wood things though.
Practice on a blank board and when you feel confident, go ahead and do it. First time is the hardest (and the sweetest) . If I know that I can do it, I would not let anyone to do it for me. A supervision/guidance would be advisable.....
 22. The gorgeous Japanese Fender TNB-110 Spl. In sunburst and silver blue options.
 23. One of the most beautiful basses out there. Was watching it a month ago, watching it now. Would it be possible to have some info about the neck ( first/12th fret taper) and the overall weight please ?
 24.
Also Manchester's 'The Creamery' http://www.at-the-cr...ss-pickups.html
It's there from the start.
 25.
TV Jones? http://tvjones.com/
That was definitely a glaring omission. Thank you. 77 and still adding.....
