  1. I think the zoom b3n is a perfect practice rig, looper, drum machine, loads of effects and headphone out and aux in.
  2. Otherwise you could play a grindcore set of 20 1 minute songs and get paid more than the other bands. Also, i was never asked to submit other band details whenever I've claimed, just my own bands setlist. I thought the £6 figure was more just a guideline as to how much a band would get paid for a gig in a small venue, rather than a hard and fast pot for all bands playing a particular nighy
  3. Ahh am i confusing things? I've only ever claimed as a composer, getting paid for originals. I thought they requested the song lengths so that they could pay pro rata as to how long the performance was (calculated by the sum of the song lengths registered and played).
  4. They work it out based on the total lengths of the songs played. If you aren't't the composer of the song you get a different cut of the royalty (I'm hazy on this as I've only ever claimed for originals.
  5. For the list- Zilla http://www.zillacabs.com/phone/bass-cabs.html
  6. The Q will be the bredth of the band you are equalising (i.e -its a paremetric eq so adjustable range as well as frequency). I use a ten band mxr eq nearish the front of my chain, but i also use the low eq on my B3n in HPF mode at the end of my chain just to cut out any subsonics i dont want.
  7. @Al - the B3n has a hpf too, its in the low eq, you can just change from shelf to HPF, and it is sweepable frequency. Not sure what the exact attenuation is though.
  8. Interesting. Wonder when they will be in shops/ how much/ when the clone kit will be out
  9. Yep, meant the b3 as opposed to the b3n (i have both, but the b3n is the one that stays on my board)
  10. I would consider one of the older zoom B3 units. Has a tuner and three effects at a time etc, with a di out as well as stereo out etc, and can be run on batteries It is bigger and heavier than your other current choices though. Can get them cheap enough second hand these days.
  11. I've been thinking about getting a TC spark mini for a clean boost. Tiny and going for around £40 at the moment online.

  13. The distortions on the b3n are certainly better than those on the b3. I never really needed the di on the back of the b3 (might have come in handy in an emergency i guess) so the b3n has everything i need covered, including better switching between patches etc in a live situation. The b3n is much closer to a one box solution for me, purely because its not as limited in how many effects one can load up, if i had to choose just one it would be the b3n.
  14. Seems like it's worth a go! Might drop them a line to see if they are interested in all genres, get some death metal on their show!
  15. Hahaha! I'll send it off to CERN for testing next! I know it's quiet as it is perfect on my mates psu, just not on any of mine! I will be trying it in different places round the house tonight to see if that the case, as im fast running out of ideas!
  16. I imagine it's a total 2000mah yes. But i get the noise when i run it on its own on the power supply, and the SS only requires 30mah (thirty!).
  17. I have a palmer pwt 08 which is an isolated power supply that runs up to 2000mah, the SS needs much less than 100mah. Even when the SS is the only thing connected to it it makes a horrible churning noise. The only time i have heard it silent is o the non isolated mxr brick. Even plugging it into a 9v 500mah single adapter it makes a noise.
  18. I seem to be having very little luck powering my Darkglass super symmetry, regardlesss of what power supply i use. I have tried: A 9v 500mah single plug - causes a very quiet hum that ducks when the threshold is engaged A 9v outlet on my palmer pwt 08 - causes an awful churning sound that makes me panic and unplug straight away (only when the pedal is engaged) Daisy chained off of my korg pitchblack tuner output - causes it to make a chuffing noise that synchs with the meter lights going out as the comp releases The only time i have managed to have it silent is when i powered it off a mates mxr dc brick, but the problem with this is that that power supply is insufficient to run my zoom b3n, which the palmer does perfectly due to its isolated 500mah 9v circuit (isolated from the rest of the standard 9v outputs). Anyone got any ideas why this may be happening? I have tried most of the obvious trouble shooting of having it plugged in on its own, different cables etc. The pedal isn't faulty as it works as expected with the mxr, and makes the noises as described above otherwise, so it has to be a supply issue.
  19. I have the ibanez that BaconCheese mentioned. Its my first 6er, its very comfortable and light, its a joy to play. Not a massively versatile pre amp, but it just so happens that the sound it does make is kind of the one i like. Would recommend.
  20. Those both look great, thank you for the input guys! Love the idea of no power leads at all!
  21. I'm looking for a power supply for my very modest pedal board (korg tuner, zoom b3n, boss ns2) and, being modest of budget i am looking at a memteq-5 - (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XPG8B71/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_r-VGzbP5JRJ1V) I can't imagine it is actually isolated, but it seems to have 500mah supply which my zoom needs, and then more than enough 100mah outputs for my needs, without breaking the bank. Has anyone had any experience with these, or any other cheap psu? Preferably ones tried and tested with "high drain" multi-fx.
  22. I recentely had the same itch. There are a few real nice 6 strings on gumtree and these here woods. I just bought an ibanez gsr206b-wnf. Its a real budget instrument, think they go for around 300quid new (i paid half that second hand). Plays nice, sounds good. Not my prettiest bass, but i didn't need it for a band, just to see if i got on with six strings (hint- i really really do!) So im glad i went for a cheap one, though i cant help think now that i wish i had spent more (classic hey?).
