1. Like this? I remember seeing them a while back too. Discontinued along with the Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass Special which also had a humbucker
2. Exactly. . It's a Kramer Ferring ton. Very rare I'm sure.
3. I'm with most others here. Over the years I've an occasional acoustic itch & had a number of acoustics which I've tried to like .. but didnt. I had one of these for a while.. the colour was the best thing about it.
4.
Neck pup a bit muddy? There is a topic on here somewhere about rewiring it from serial to parallel. Worth doing!
I've always played it with both pups on. I haven't played it in a while actually & think it might be time to give it a bash to refresh my memory.
5. After a few no-name(well not that I remember ) basses that were unplayable but probably collectable I got a Squier 57 Precision from1983. I still have it. I got it as it was that or a Tokia. I had a Orange head that was cheap then probably now super vintage as was the Sound City 4x10.As I remember it was powerful and incredibly loud. So what did I trade them in for... a brand new state of the art Carslbro Cobra 90 combo. It used it for years and years. When I actually tried others I realised how really sh*t it was. Wish I kept the Orange and Sound City.
6. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll leave the shoe polish idea - it's maybe a bit like dying your hair with Bisto ...
7. I recently got a Harley Benton PB50 fifties style precision. The maple neck is very white & I'd like to tint it to a honey colour. I was about get laquer spray from Rothko & Frost , but last night I came across various claims that if you get a tin of Kiwi Brown/Mid Tan shoe polish, rub it on and wipe it off it'll do the same thing. Some seem to swear by it On the other hand, some say this is a lot of old nonsense and a silly fad . it'll look, even smell, rubbish. It might damage the neck, poison you, come off on your fingers and wont last long. My bass isn't the most expensive but I'd be reluctant to potentially ruin it with something I'd be better rubbing on my boots. Any views/ comments/experiences?
8. Tough one - probably keep yer YOB anyway , after that who knows? Sometimes it's just good to have rather than need, if you have them on display rather than in a cupboard/under the bed its nice to have a look at them. I've got 2 Jazz basses , which to be honest I never use, one in a cupboard & one on a stand & I always have an admiring glance at it in the passing. I do think I " should" sell them but never quite got round to it.
9. I've got one of these bad boys - Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass Special. I think now discontinued . It's sounds feels, and I think ,looks awesome.
10. Thanks I'll bear that in mind. Just had a plonk with the band with it. It sounds just fine as it is.

13. Yip that's the one.. it was on Gumtree awhile back but the chap decided to keep it, then must've changed his mind again . He'd just bought a SQUIER bass VI and needed to move the HB .
14. I've just got one. It wasn't advertised as a HB but that's what it is. It's had the headstock reshaped (very well), new Wilkinson bridge and bridge and pickup covers and an unused set of flats. I've not really had the chance to have a good go but so far I'm very impressed.I've got a Seymour Duncan PB 3?in my drawer that I might put in and also a set of Wilkinson big tuners. I'd quite like the colour of the neck to be less white but that's no big deal
15. It's a no from me.. I was expecting to be impressed but they just don't do it for me. I didn't like the feel or tension tbh. I've got a set of black nylons in a drawer that I might try for a laugh.
16. Fender Mustang, black and maple. I managed to get one in a fire/flood sale(don't think you get these anymore). Got rid of the wee shorty to get an Aria SB which felt like it was twice the size and weight.
17. Thanks for that detailed reply , it's very much appreciated. . I'll probably go for it.. it looks cool and I just need it to have a quiet plonk
18. I've been offered one for £30- I haven't as yet seen it but Google images look quite small & funky. Any thoughts/experience ?
19. Thanks for that - here's a picture... ...and a link to advert https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/squier-p-j-bass-guitars-/1172599257
20. I rather enjoyed it and liked some of the background stories. Thought the Ska band were great. Midge is a good man.
