1. I know a girl whose sister was the girlfriend of Justin Currie of legendary Scottish rockers Del Amitri. When they broke up Justin's bass was left behind in a cupboard. Her brother sold it at a car boot sale.
2. The Wurzels are unexpectedly getting quite a few mentions. Excellent.
3.
And I once bought an old Ampeg SVT cab that was reportedly ex-Wurzels.
Now that's the kind of thing that meets the criteria right there.. perfick
So what's your most obscure bass claim to fame?
4. A friend of mine once owned a bass rig, Trace Elliot I think, previously owned by the Pete Agnew of "Legendary Scots Rockers"... Nazareth!! Description - " Big , heavy, loud, completely impractical.'Nazareth/ Pete Agnew' stenciled on it"
5. Nice one - out of interest what happened to your last effort ?
6.
We'll just have to accept that what we intended to be a cool looking "rock n roll rebel yell" stage dressing is returning to it's roots in people's hearts and minds and it's time in that capacity has gone. Interestingly the photo I posted with the flags hanging either side of the drums was taken in April 2014 and caused (as far as I'm aware) no controversy back then although it has to be said it's making me wince a little in the context of this thread, Times change and we shall respond accordingly. Les
I admire the way you have dealt with this sensitive issue... here's my suggestion for a alternative
7. Thanks for the replies folks - here's the polished nut Silvo style. It's a bit of a moody photo but I didn't use the flash
8. Nice one... good way to bow out. Absolutely no chance of a comeback?
9.
I wasn't insulting the brand, moreso the number of things wrong with that particlular one, like the tuners and all the dings and the nut.
Isn't that a" heavy relic" & very desirable?
10.
Not sure that Brasso or similar is really a problem for a non varnished fretboard as long as you buff it off properly ? Esp if you use the wadding rather than the liquid. Just looked it up on Wikipedia and worth noting that the US version is different to what we get here in UK and Australia is a bit different too. Also 'Silvo' is a bit less abrasive than Brasso so could use that.
Thanks for that - I think I'll try the Silvo wadding - I spotted some in my mum's cupboard - it's probably been there since the 70's!
11. I've got a Fenix by Young Chang Jazz bass dating from the late 1980's. In my opinion it is anything but a POS. I bought mine a number of years back and the guy I got it from said that it'd been used on the recording of a Tears for Fears album. He's no reason to make this up.. why would you? I'm not sure about value as they don't come up very often.. maybe somewhere £200-300? Like any bass you could improve/change tuners, pickups etc. My understanding is that Fenix made Squiers but also made their own branded stuff that was higher quality. A headstock change was required due to very strong similarities with Fender. I also understand that some Fenix models were considered to be premium quality It'd be worth checking out the Fenix Guitars Facebook site, where worldwide enthusiasts will likely be able to provide more info
12.
Is it A (Edit - beaten by two who just typed his name and not fanny about cutting and pasting grrrrr)
Rob Brydon.. are you mad ?- it's surely Anton from Strictly Come Dancing
13. Ah Brasso. .. I'm sure my Mum will have some.
14. The brass nut on my old Aria SB 600 is tarnished/ discoloured. I'd like to have it nice & shiny . Any handy suggestions?
15. Dun .. dun... dun . That was quite interesting.
16. That's disappointing- I see it's still advertised along with the sellers other items including snooker cues , binoculars, and cook books. Good luck though , hopefully he'll be in touch.
17. Go for it - amp & lead included maybe even the stand. I've done a quick google the worst it could be is very good for that price - if I was 10 minutes away I'd be all over it like a cheap suit.
18. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-bb800-bass-guitar-with-stand-lead-and-torque-practice-amp-with-/1250781048 Not a lot of detail but looks like a bargain
19. These w***as look pretty pleased with themselves. Canta w***a seems to sitting a bit uncomfortably.
20. Wow.. too good to be true or total bargain?
21. Same here - thanks a million
