Im after some opinions from BCers who have tried both the 760FL and 760FS La Bella flats if poss Years ago I gave the FS set a try and absolutely loved the tone. Infact I recently found a recording of a gig I did with them on my P bass and the tone is excellent – thumpy but not a dead clunk, married beautifully with my P and the Ampeg valve amp I was using. The reason I got rid was the tension – a bit too high and caused a fair amount of finger fatigue in my picking hand over the course of the gig. I get that this may well be down to my technique and have recently been looking at the Carol Keye picking technique but other flats like Status and Pyramid have never been an issue for me. Ive read conflicting reports on the difference between the FL and FS sets. Some say there is little to no difference whereas some say the seemingly small difference in gauge belies the rather significant difference in tension. Now, I get that even issues such as tension are open to interpretation – I recently tried the supposed low tension DR Flats and found them quite high tension if im honest - but to give you an idea my ‘favourite’ flats currently are the Status Hotwires – reasonably taught but have plenty of ‘give’ in them when picking. Give a great thump but maybe slightly TOO dead sounding after a while. As I remember the La Bella’s actually surprised me in the amount of sustain they had.

6. Pretty rare valve overdrive/distortion pedal. Uses a 12AX7 valve that is mains powered as opposed to usual starved plate designs using a 9v power source. This has the mains lead built in. Pots could do with a quick blast of Serviceol as can be a little scratchy, never bothered me as I set it and leave it. It’s quite receptive to tube rolling and I got good results with a NOS 12AU7. This will come with original 12AX7 and im pretty sure I have the original box somewhere. Pretty heavy so postage might be up to £10, will need to check. £50 + Postage
7. Black and blue chorus pedal with a couple of paint scratches. Just two knobs for Speed and Depth with additional Stereo output. Very “Duff McKagan/80’s” sounding chorus, nice thick and chewy J. I’ve seen these advertised on the internet at around £70 but despite the desire for vintage MIJ pedals surely this is a bit OTT? £30 inc Postage in UK
8. Old MIJ Pedal. Yellow and black simple to use compressor. Not much low end loss at all and very bass friendly. I used this to tame my bass during Come Together to get that split-second ‘choke hold’ on the notes between initial attack and decay. Did a great job but I’m back to valves now so the natural compression is enough for me. £30 inc Postage in UK Pics to follow

10. Got two vintage MIJ Yamaha pedals knocking around - a chorus and a compressor (CO-10M II & CH-10M II) that ill be looking to sell soon but am struggling with the prices. The compressor seems to go for around £20-£30 but the chorus is really confusing me. Prices of sold items on ebay and other websites vary from £30 right up to £80!! Normally id stick it on ebay and see what an auction fetches but Im looking to stay away from ebay after a few recent issues so looking to sell on here. Cant remember what I paid for them so where do I get a reasonable ballpark figure to advertise at?
11. Ant bought my Dimarzio DP122's in an effortlessly smooth transaction. No worries here
12. Yup, that's what keeps it interesting I guess. One mans warm is another mans muddy, one mans clarity is anothers mans brittle.
13. Im the opposite. I love their amps having tried everything from a MAG300 through to the DP200h (I particularly loved their dual tube spyder series). On the other hand I just cant get on with their cabs at all. Again I’ve tried everything from the MAG range through to VS series right up to their CL series. They just sound a bit ‘weak’ for want of a better word
14. Custom made 45-105 pyramid gold flats. The 'custom made' aspect was I wanted a set without silks at either end. Ordered directly from Pyramid Seiten (Max there is a legend!) Cut for a P bass and had less than 10mins play £30 posted in UK
15. Took these out of my P bass as wanted something more traditional. Its the black version, plenty of wire length, never soldered (kiogon harness) and only light surface scratches to covers. Comes with foam and mounting screws £35 posted in UK?
16. If this was closer to bolton id be very interested. GLWTS
17. Had mine strung with Pyramid flats and the tone was immense!
