1. Pyramid Gold Flatwound bass strings in the lighter 40-105 gauge. Probably my fave string but price dictates which bass gets them and which get my second fave - Picato’s J These have been cut for a Fender P bass and had around 4hrs play. These are known for their low tension (not wet noodle TI type tension tho!) and whilst they do get thumpy with age they initially sound not too dissimilar to TI’s – maybe a little less treble and a bit more beef. They have Purple silks at each end and feel lovely under the fingers. Im getting rid purely because ive gone up a gauge for my P bass. My Epi Casady has these on tho and it sounds superb with them on. Brand new they are around £50 a set in UK. These can be yours for £20 delivered (in a Pyramid pack albeit for my new higher gauge strings). Im always trying new flats so could be interested in a trade (p bass cut or new) for flats I haven’t yet tried – DR Legend, Ernie Ball etc something a bit growly!

4. Im planning on using a Behringer BD21 as an ‘on all the time’ effect in my pedal chain. I will be using it for a tiny bit of ampeg type breakup/grit to my sound ala Fratellis type sound. I do have an overdrive pedal for the more distorted/heavey driven valve amp type sounds. My question is, using this an an on-all-the-time pedal where should I be looking to place it in my pedal chain? Im thinking it should be straight after my tuner thus any other effect I apply will be to the ampegy type sound? My current set up is……Bass > Boss TU2 > Boss Chrous > Ibanez PD7 Overdrive > EHX Linear Boost > Ampeg SVT3 Would I put the BDI21 straight after the tuner or would I be best putting it at the end of the effects chain?

6. Im loving the early Fratellis bass tone at the moment. Its got a nice growly sound to it. I know he uses a flats loaded P bass through an SVT - its got a lovely pillowy thumup initially that has a kind of valvey breakup sustain. Songs like Look Out Sunshine and Mistress Mabel show it really well
7. This a clean beast or does it break up?

9. After a budget-ish overdrive pedal for my bass and am a bit lost with it all being fairly new to pedals. Basically the tone im after is the bass intro to Chelsea Dagger by fratellis – so a fairly aggressive sound but still with plenty of bottom end in. I used to use an Ashdown valve amp so for this song I just used my LPB-1 booster pedal that pushed the valves into breakup. However, im now back to a hybrid head and whilst I love the normal tone I (obviously) just cant get the amp to break up the same. I did get hold of a pic of the Fratellis bass pedal board and noticed he seems to use a guitar OD pedal in the Boss Blues Driver but when I tried this the bottom end just fell out of the mix and got completely lost. I don’t want to spend too much as its an effect ill barely use (I don’t really use any!) so ive been looking at the likes of the Ibanez PD7, EXH Hot Tubes Nano etc. To give an idea of my setup im using a ’76 P bass with flatwounds into an Ampeg SVT3 (non pro) and an Ampeg 410HE. Any help from pedal players greatly appreciated

12. Cheers guys. This is on ebay at £800 so i guess minus fees that puts it around £720 at BC price?
13. Managed to snag an SVT III non pro so that itch is scratched for now. As such i have amended the trades list to just the V4BH. As before shipping could be an option

15. Right oh, looks like ive got the replaent amp line up so no so much a feeler anymore. On that basis a little price drop to £835 collected
16. Any users of the SVT III Non pro on here at all? Theres one at our local rehearsal studio and despite being a valve man this head sounds really good and can get quite gritty. I see the common complaint on the Pro version is lack of volume and the non-pro is actually rated at less output but the tone is really good. I ve only played it through my 4x10 with both my Jack Casady and P bass (both with flats) and can get a nice old school sound. One has cropped up for sale and im tempted. Any long term users on here got any view/opinions
17. Dug the box out of the loft and forgot it has fairly substantial polystyrene holding blocks in it. At a push i could probably ship in UK at buyers risk of course. Always used Paisley Freight will no problems to date. If interested give me a shout and ill get some quotes
18. Main body is 51cm wide but there are two almost wing like handles that add a further 2 or 3 cm each side in the midde of the body....if that makes sense
