1.
I assume the ecc83 is just a phase inverter then? A little naught of Ashdown considering that they are marketed on gear shops as being all valve. This is something Ashdown need to address, their retailers should be not listing it as all valve if it's not. It was one of the reasons why I brought it (an inexpensive way to play around with valve amps), although it's not the end of the world as I do like the sound and can't tell it's not all valve from the sound. Even the manual states the preamp is an ecc83 and yet if you look at internal pictures online you can see opamps in there.
Anyone ever pulled them to task on this? All their ad's state All Valve
2. The CTM 15 isnt all valve tho, its a solid state front end pushing a valve power section. As a side note, id still love to try the Ashdown DP200H

4. As per my other post regarding 4x10 cabs im currently having a bit of fun with a Bugera 1960 (technically a guitar head, a clone of some old Marshall 100w). It seems a great amp so far and is handling the bass well. Obviously the circuit is designed for guitar so my usual EQ settings don’t quite sound right (as much as setting EQ with your eyes can haha). Usually I have:- Bass - 12 o'clock Mids - 2 o'clock Treble - 11 o'clock This is with a P bass, flatwounds and 2x12 Ashdown cab. Im finding that on some runs the upper regsiters (anything above 5th fret on D string and most of G string) get a little lost in the mix. Im considering sacrificing some of the mid for a little more treble and maybe boosting the bass to beef it all up a bit:- Bass - 2 o'clock Mids - 11 or 12 o'clock Treble 1 o'clock Im looking for a nice pillowy thump of a tone, lots of beef and girth but no picky treble or twang (think Fratellis - We Need Medicine LP). You think this would help? I play with a plectrum, using a 1976 P bass and La Bella 760FS flats. Any EQ help always greatly appreciated
5. Ive recently been rocking my Bugera 1960 valve amp at practise where the SVT is just too much, great sound and a real nice amp so far. However, the amp is very wide - 79cm or there abouts. Its fits perfectly on my Ashdown VS212 when it is set horizontally but id really like a 4x10 to go with it. I know its only aesthetics but im not keen on the whole 'T' look (where the amp over hangs the cab either side) but am really struggling to find a 4x10 wide enough. Anyone got any suggestions at all? Needs to be around 300w, 4ohm or 8ohm. Cheers

7.
Never took up with this new-fangled lightweight malarkey. Walkabout Scout is as light as I want to go.
This. Im defo a valve guy but have tried the Orange Bass Terror (really liked it), TC RH450 (awful), Aguillar TH 500 (ok). None of them copped the valve tone and feel despite claims to the conterary (the TC valvetone thingy sounded less valve like than my Ashdown Spyder!) For me i just NEED a big 'F off' valve amp

10. BUMP for a great head. Keeping the cab for now but will put it back up once i sort the replacement. £150 for the head
11. Been a long time fan of the SVT and usually used them with a 410HLF. Recently however, ive seen two local bassists using them with the sealed 410he with is an 8ohm cab. Ive done a fair bit of research including speaking to the inventor of the SVT who says that they have no problem driving 8ohms, particularly at the vvolume id be looking at. However, i fancy a smaller cab, something like say a single 1x15 or single 2x10 - anyone done this? The band i play in isnt particularly loud and i play with a flats loaded P bass. I may be wrong but my thinking is with a 2x10 id need to crank the volume a little bit more than with a 4x10 - thus driving the valves a bit harder resulting in a more pleasing valve sound? Anyone driven any other Ampeg cabs with an SVT other than the usual 4x10, 6x10 and 8x10 combinations?

13. Head still here in original box with all paperwork. Did a bit of valve swapping in this the other night for a bit of an experiment. Pleasantly surprised by how much difference it made. Had a good session with it with 2 old Mazda ECC83's in it. The amp will be supplied with its original valves (a chinese 12ax7 and a Ruby 12ax7) but could be good for someone who is into tube rolling like myself
14. Chucking in a few trade options with cash either way:- Orange Terror Bass 500 Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Fender Classic 50's Precision Bass (sunburst)
15.
It says its all valve in the blurb, with pre-amp and output tube?
From what i read the 12AX7 is a phase inverter as opposed to a pre-amp
16. I played one at PMT not long ago, lovely tone but im just a bit put off by the ''All Valve'' marketing when the amp is actually a hybrid? With my 76 P bass with flats it had a really nice punch to it
17. Arent the CTM15's hybrid amps too as opposed to the full valve that they are claimed to be? I read someone had a proper look at one and decided that it was a solid state front end pushing a valve power section?
18. £250 price drop as on ebay at slightly more
