1. I think this is the only "big" cab I have serious GAS for now. But I will be strong and hold off for the next gen Barefaced cabs... Or that 1x12 proto if Alex ever wants to sell it (hint hint) If this turns up at the SE Bash I will be even more gutted I am missing it
2. Er, more helpfully. I like a big round tone with a little bit of bite but I'm not a fan of tweeters. I run my MBFusion almost flat with the deep switch engaged. I find myself preferring the sound and feel of halfwounds to roundwounds though for dirty rock sounds roundwounds are still the way forward IMO.
3. I always go back to the bass tone on Empire (Queensryche) as my absolute fave but I dig most tones that aren't crap. Award for the most helpful comment won't be going to me this year
4. You still got the V8 Dom?
5. Some cracking tunes here guys, I want to do a rock covers band now!!! I always fancied doing some early Def Lep (i.e. pre-Hysteria) like The Overture, Another Hit And Run or Die Hard The Hunter
6. Sorry, what's meant was Alex would be a lot more honest about his cabs than anyone else! Didn't't really do a good job of explaining that one, sorry... I have an S12 now, it is astonishing. I currently run it with a GK MB Fusion and I love it to bits. I have the balls that the Trace V-Type combo had but with far less weight, a better bottom end and more volume
7. I don't have experience with this cab, but I have owned a few Trace cabs in my past..: 1153 (compact 1x15, cracking) 2103H (2x10+horn, meh) 1518 (big 1x15, the new one and the best Trace cab I have owned) The 1153 lacked a real big bottom end, the new 1518 more than made up for that. The top end on th 1518 was there but not harsh like I felt it was on the 1153, a much smoother treble roll off. No loss of clarity but then I don't like tweeters, hence why I think the 2103H was totally crappy (the tweeter in it was pony, and the Celestion woofers were a bit poop too really). I'd be interested ot hear the new 1528 cab, I reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised how it sounds but at the same time I would trust the opinions of Alex over the technical blurb on the Trace site!! Knowing some of the amps you've had in the past I suspect you may miss a tweeter.
8. Hamer Scarab
9. Whereabouts in London are you? I miss my old WT550 sometimes and am having bad thoughts about this...
10. Geek question.... What was custom about the 1x18?
11. Every single bit of gear I or my band has owned with this type of handle has had the same rubber fraying (non)issue.
12. Welcome! Plus 1 for the Streamliner, heard one last night at gig volumes for the first time and it was astonishingly lovely. I really rate my Gallien Krueger MB Fusion too but not sure if there are any 2nd hand right now... Nice Ricky btw
13. Gorgeous! Good luck, always wanted one of these but no money right now
14.
Can't believe this is still here. One of the nicest 5 string neck profiles I've played.
This, tho remove the word "one" ... Status 5ers are the best 5er neck for me
15. Monster!
16. Trevor bought an Ashdown cab from me. Dead easy deal, sorted within the day, many thanks!
17. Bought an Eden cab from John, an absolutely delightful bit of business
18. On the right hand side panel as you look at the cab head-on, if that makes sense? It's really minute but felt it needed pointing out!
19. Small and light and sounding like a TE? the Gallien Krueger MB200 does that IMHO. Only with more bass and more top end zing too.
20. Without being too naughty (i hope)... I'm selling an Ashdown 1x12 can in the classifieds here - 150W, 8 ohms, £100 delivered.
21. Happy birthday Sir Clarky!
22. Hello! I have just agreed to buy oldslapper's Eden 1x12 cab, thus making this surplus to requirements. I bought it a month ago as a cheap, small cab for home and band practice. It has been used precisely twice at home, very quietly as I live in flats, and once at a rehearsal where it got to stretch its legs a little. So basically in brand new condition except for a small nick in the vinyl, but that was there when I bought it. New these are £130 if you can find one, this is a month old so I'll do it for £100 shipped to mainland UK (ask me for a quote if further afield) Nice vintage sounding cab, designed for the Little Bastard. I can imagine two of these with that head would be quite a nice sounding rig! MDF construction, no damping inside, ceramic 12" driver, nice red grill cloth, vintage handle on top which gets in the bloody way of the amp unless it has monster feet.....
