  1. The Subhumans... sure, they're well loved in the UK in the punk scene but that's it. I've seen Richard Lucas do spoken word for 30 people in the UK, I've seen him sing with mutual friends' bands. Much MUCH bigger in the States
  2. Oh my giddy aunt this thing slaps! IT'S ALIVE!
  3. So finally wired it with your great advice, find out if it works soon as it's daylight! Thanks lads!
  4. Cheers Matt. Ashdown had said it should be marked, saw nothing, the width saved me!
  5. So! I bought a wicked cab off a fellow basschatter, hand carried it home to Cyprus- and the tweeter snapped in transit! Ashdown sent me a replacement and it's different. Securing part is round rather than square but the holes match up. I have now two problems: 1. I was going to resolder the wires exactly like on the old one. The connection points, however, are 180 degrees apart. Can someone confirm if it matters which way round the live and neutral wires are? I think no, but "think" is where explosions come from 2. the hole in the cab is just too narrow. The tweeter fits but the connection points do not. I'm tempted to route out a little more hole, does anyone have any idea if that's a bad idea? 3. Finally, the grille was stuck on with some sticky rubber tape. Anyone know what it is? It may need renewing. Thanks in advance! McGuyver out!
  6. Oooh the Fleece, I've been ejected from there! Thankfully after the show...
  7. I think you've found a niche to be filled. I'd buy that.
  8. OOH ARR As a prior resident of the SW I can confirm that these men are gods.
  9. Record digging win of the century was finding a SIGNED Wurzels album in CYPRUS. I tried getting a fiver off because it was scribbled on. He pointed out that (a) it was definitely signed and (b) "no one else is going to buy that shite" so I got a fiver off anyway. Win win all around I'd say
  10. So, like mentioned earlier I did have a friend in school who broke his arm and had to learn to write left handed at age 10. It's possible, what I wonder is if that affects creativity. I'm firmly right handed BUT I cant play backgammon right handed, always been a lefty on backgammon and that's the only thng I'm lefthanded on. Moreover, it's bizarrely impossible to play right handed. I've often wondered if it's a symptom of using a different brain hemisphere, and following on would it affect one's creativity if they were to switch hands on their instrument?
  11. I know this is about basschat but as a PSA, bass direct do ship to europe, it's just that the new website cant do the postage yet so you have to email them
  12. Very tempting but I have no CLUE what i'd be looking at...
  13. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/may/06/can-i-still-listen-to-david-bowie-a-superfans-dilemma A pretty interesting read, and raises the question of both whether the artist's work is tarnished and if the tarnish goes back to before the crime. Quite an interesting question if you consider Michael Jackson was recording great music while still a child
  14. Right now, I'd say.... Arriving- I'm So Tired by Fugazi Reflection- If You Want Me To Stay by Sly and the Family Stone Departure- West One (Shine On Me) by the Ruts
  15. Can we talk about how Transvision Vamp fully stole "I want your love" from the Misfit's "Skulls" and inexplicably did not get sued by Glenn Danzig ib the process?
  16. Plymouth's Bus Station Loonies do a good Where's Captain Kirk along with a good GG Allin's No Rules. Alas, they are not a covers band
  17. So can anyone tell a total novice what sort of effect he's using right at the beginning?
  18. How do folks feel about a communal Spotify playlist? Anyone would be allowed to add tracks with beloved basslines, the only rule being you're limited to three tracks a basschatter and need to remove one if you're adding another! Either we can make one open to all if it's possible or folks can post here and I'll fling it on
  19. Hopefully. And I'll check with the seller if they're happy, and spell it out in writing and we'll be fine
  20. Okay so this clears up my confusion. In Cyprus where I live the post office will charge the buyer. The onus is on you to show up with a receipt and settle up. I don't know why anyone would be surprised or refuse to pay the charges as they're really not the seller's problem. So this is why a lot of folks are cagey about sending a private sale to Europe. A shame.
  21. The very lovely cover of "The Harder They Come" by the great Joe Strummer and the Long Beach Dub Allstars
  22. It looks great to me, if you want to throw something catchy people wont be expecting I'd look at changing Mmmmbop for Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction. Your audience wont know it but they're already warmed up by thn and its rock, funky and catchy as ffffflamingos
