  1. All quite a shame but... surely a private individual selling a pedal just posts it? Sure I have the hassle this end, do you guys have more to deal with posting as a private individual? Incidentally for EU chums. I have used myus.com to buy from the US. You get a US and UK address to use and generally better courier rates. Youre of course double paying post, and you pay them direct the import due as a buyer. It may be a solution if buying from the UK as the seller would have a UK adress to send to and none of the hassle. It may be right for you
  2. I'll look on non- UK sites first. I spent time in the UK, my partner is British so we would gravitate more to bying from the UK but no longer do due to tax etc. I have also found that for some reason folks selling used items privately dont want to sell to the EU. Im not sure why as in that case it's just post- it's me who would pay taxes on receipt. Thankfully I finally got to meet my partner's mother in Yorkshire and had an amp sent there and picked up a cab in a carpark too.... thanks basschatters!
  3. As an occasionally rock climbing professional mariner who has returned to the bass I can confirm that it's still a mess AND someone always knows better...
  4. Yes, but some power supplies have an outlet for power. I don't know if it's mains equivalent
  5. Yeah, my understanding of electricity is shaky at best. Maybe I should go to a friendly shop and test it out...
  6. And if you want to listen to a FAST bassline, check out "Release Yourself" by the Bamboos
  7. So, super happy with my Ant, and I have a couple pedals with an eye on a couple more. Some power supplies have a "complimentary outlet". Is there any reason I couldnt power the amp through the power station's outlet? Something like a Cioks Schizofrenic, for instance... Ta!
  8. This is gorgeous. If I had bought all the other more urgent bits, I would. GLWTS
  9. I would right now if it wasn't for bloody Geography...
  10. 😂😂😂 not going on holiday to Cyprus this summer are you? Thought it worth an ask lol
  11. Yes, I'm starting to lean that way. Plus some nice folk have also advised me that cabs tend to be tuned best for same brand amps, so it's the way to go. Now for the next decisions- 2x10, 1x12 or 1x15....
  12. Hi, getting back into bass and looking for a cab to match an Ashdown Ant. I want it for a range of styles, sometime in it's future there's likely to be a sub bass generator thrown at it, home use and praccy with a LOUD drummer and give it time, possibly some smaller gigs. The Ashdown seems to be great, found the Tech21 at a decent price for B stock. I'm struggling to find much in the way of reviews for it. Any opinions welcome. Sadly I can't realistically buy from bc as I live in Cyprus and posting a cab from the UK is a non- starter due to cost. I suspect the Tech is a better option but without being able to try them, who knows?
  13. What headscarves? In Cyprus we had the cult of Aphrodite outside Paphos, where young women would go to the temple for two years and offer themselves to anyone before returning to town to settle down and marry. Then the Christian moral steamroller came along and desexualised everything
  14. Whoa whoa whoa, I'm all about the stabbing. BLOCK AND DELETE FOR YOU!
  15. Absolutely. I dont like Morissey's opinions any more. It's moot as I'm not a Smiths fan anyway, but should Marr be boycotted because of Morissey? The little I've heard from Marr finds me in agreement a lot. I try to bear in mind what world the music is inhabiting. And I've been drawing my own lines since I was young. We're all capable enough to make our own decisions.
  16. Spot on. The problem with religion has always been that it deals in absolute truths and is inherently a conservative force- and a glue for social cohesion. The internet has evolved in dealing with absolute truths in multiple directions and is fanaticising people in different direction, while gluing different factions together. Non- political topics, like climate, social freedoms and covid have become yoked to political groupings and the fringe is becoming mainstream whether thats fascism or rough pornography. Having said that, in this era of Absolute Truths we've lost the distinction between what a 20 year old drunk Hetfield said in 82, Bob Marley's subtle homophobia in his lyrics in 70's Jamaican society and whether its OK to say whatever your shrivelled up black heart vomits out now. Subtlety and shades of opinion are dead.
  17. I do think it needs recognition. While not religious myself its a fact people need a smaller community than modern cities and some faith to anchor their life. Basically we need tribe and faith which expresses itself as football identity, subcultures, flag waving whatever. I dont think religion is the answer but the evolution of society coupled with the turbo connectivity of social media has polarised people and sharpened divisions. We could all do with a little effort in listening to the other viewpoint. I also remain thoroughly indecisive about the topic at hand...

  19. Maybe we can all club together and see about a bulk buy discount...
  20. Hi guys, I have used myus.com in the past for US purchases. You get a US adress to use, it means you dont pay state tax over there and you get to pay your import tax when paying for shipping. You get a choice of couriers at pretty good prices and if you use the premium service theyll bundle purchases to keep your costs down. Might be worth it for some of you folks...
