  1. Yh gotta be, turned out to be a real stinker by the time it got to me. Don't know if you can see by zooming in my photo at the 24th fret, you can see the G string was running straight off the fretboard and if you look at the B its way in on the fretboard, so it played really bad but thought I was just adapting to the new bass but turns out it wasnt me. I didn't notice as I was just so stoked to finally own a Zoot, but my guitar tech at the time, came to pick it up from rehearsals and from across the room was like what is going on there! I returned it Bass Direct not shortly after he gave it the once over and got my first P-Bass there on starting an obsession im yet to shake, so not all bad things haha
  2. Fantastic! I'm not to far from Braintree, where you playing?
  3. fair play my dude, as long as you love it all that matters. I dont i'll own one again personally but yh was good fun for a while
  4. dammm thats a real shame, I'll have to try one if the opportunity ever comes up, but i'm in no rush, got a GK MB800 and that is doing me fine for the smaller gigs
  5. Insane money for what it is in my personal opinion, i've moved away from the fan-fretted Dingers in recent years as I got the P-Bass bug, but enjoyed my time playing them. Do miss that spanky low B tho.....
  6. Yh it was very very cheap, im assuming there where clearing down some old stock. The bass was literally fine in every way not a thing wrong with it haha. I owned another trans black Combustion of the same era but not B-stock, and actually preferred the B-stock red one haha.
  7. Recent tours with Primus had Les playing a Subway D-800 rig w/ Subway 112 cabinets, slaved for 1600 watts rms into 4 x 112's. I don't know what rig he is using for the new FFFB tour that's going out this spring. ooooooo that is nice, Les has always been a Mesa user by the looks of it. Never tried a Subway amp but I bet they are awesome
  8. ooooooo yh i just looked at that, shame about the big dent in chassis or I would also consider it.
  9. awesome thanks for sharing, gonna give those books a google! i enjoy a good fantasy read myself!
  10. Sorry to resurrect this age old thread but I think I bought this bass in 2014 from Bass Direct and owned it for a short period from the grain pattern this has to be the same bass, this is the only photo I have of it from my short ownership.
  11. This is a 2012 Dingwall Combustion B-Stock purchased directly from Dingwall for about £500-600 at the time. It’s B-Stock due to a paint defect under the pick guard which i’ve never bothered to investigate as you can’t see it and the Dingwall logo if off centre on the headstock. Serial number is 00314 so it’s an early one. It also has a B stamped into the wood next to the serial number to show it as B-stock. It’s a real workhorse and sounds fantastic and i’m guessing pretty rare.
  12. Never seen one of these before, love that body shape!
  13. I'm stealing all these names for my basses, I have no shame Also love a thunderbird, awesome with a pick
  14. that is a very good point haha
  15. its true, i dont see it being much better then the 400+ myself, but ive seen so many pictures of Les Claypools touring rig from the mid 90's using the 400+ and the M-2000 in conjunction so i've always wanted to try that set up for myself just to achieve the Pork Soda, Tales from the Punchbowl era Primus tones. Just for my own selfish exploration it would be a lot of fun haha
  16. Yh I paid £750 for a 400+ last year so im assuming the M-2000 wouldnt come close to that. Thanks for the info, very helpful
  17. Never would of thought of that tbh, will have to give it a go!
  18. Yh that seems to be the only example I can find online as they dont come up often. Thanks for the heads up, will have to wait for one with more reasonable price tag mentioned.
  19. Good call, my old bass teacher used an Akai U40 which does a similar thing, might be worth considering
  20. Always good to clear down some old stock for something new, look forward to hearing your impressions, ill keep an eye out for the thread! Or quote it in here so I cant miss it!
  21. It is a really tough one as I also think it is steep but its also like find another one. I actually already have the 400+ which only cost me £600 a few years back so it seems really steep anything over £1000 for a M-2000.
  22. The MXR poly has a mode switch. One side is analogue style (not sure if it’s actual analogue - but convincing enough and I’m a proper octave snob) and the poly side is digital. That’s part of the reason it’s so cool. Chuck in the fuzz circuit, all the different blendable ocatves (up and down) and some modulation and you can hit Royal Blood, Pino octaves, POG organ sounds, synth, sub octave and everything in between all in one MXR sized pedal! Hmmmmm some very good points here to consider, thanks for sharing
  23. dammmmmm son that is a serious piece of kit, assuming it also has a serious price tag to boot tho 🥴 thanks for sharing the video tho that slapped heavy
  24. Long shot, but does anyone have any experience with the Mesa Boogie Basis M-2000? I don’t see these come up often as they are from the 90's early 2000's but I have the opportunity to get one. Also can I get a price check on what these may or may not be worth there isn't a lot from my search I can find as this is a pretty rare amp in this day and age? Love to hear good, bad, the works
  25. ahh that is a good point im more of an analogue man myself, so we can set up camp in the stupid wasting money area together ahha
