  1. Good conversations between ourselves; Amy however hasn't been on here since her initial post it seems.
  2. I did go to this event and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mark had a laugh with the audience, never taking it too seriously. However, the first piece of the night reminded me of .....
  3. That's perfect. The comment will be relevant to the recent purchasers.
  4. Be aware that doing this work invalidates any warranty. Damage to screw heads will be the most obvious sign the chassis has been opened.
  5. It might've been a batch of sub-standard pots (I won't call them faulty) that need some extra TLC to correct the scratchiness. No biggie as long as the correct substance and procedure are used. When low cost is a primary design parameter these things can happen; just as long as safety is never compromised.
  6. Because its electronic design isn't based on the Streamliner, it's based on the Ampeg PF800.
  7. It may well be something that happens depending on the input signal. I've just bought an Ashdown EQ pedal where the VU meter barely moves with my Reggie Hamilton jazz bass in passive mode but leaps into life when active EQ is set flat, even though the apparent volume remains practically the same.
  8. This looks like an even cheaper way to get the ultra low facility:-
  9. I'm guessing the ultra low button does something similar to this:-
  10. Does anyone else have the same issue with the compressor distortion/click mentioned in another thread on here? https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/332008-bugera-veyron-1001-series-2000w-amps/?do=findComment&comment=4863976
  11. This, and the scratchy pots may very well be why this amp is being offloaded for £149. At this price most purchasers will still see it as a good deal and an acceptable compromise. At the original full price most would reject it.
  12. I've had mine almost 10 years from new. I intend to use it as my home set up when I find somewhere suitable. The valves are worth £150 alone. You must've needed the space really badly to "give it away" for that price. I bought it as a cheap way to try out a big valve amp, which I'm very glad I did. They're awsome!
  13. I agree. It's the probably the best sounding amp I own but I've never gigged it to confirm it due to its weight. I think it cost me around £350, which for an auto biasing 300 watt all valve amp was a deal I couldn't resist.
  14. Here's a couple of pics of my Bugera.
  15. If I was gigging an Ampeg head of any variety and needed a backup, the Mosfet Veyron at this price would be a no brainer. I'm gonna talk myself into buying one aren't I....?
  16. I don't need another amp, I don't need another amp, I don't need another amp.... I must resist.... Hey Russ, recognise the TA503 that you sold me 10 years ago?
  17. If I didn't already have a shed load of amps I'd be ordering one as well. I expect this is every bit as good as the PF800.
  18. Yes, this mosfet version is a PF800 clone, the tube version is a Streamliner clone. Just compare the controls and feature sets of the four amps.
  19. Be aware that is a very powerful amp; probably capable of delivering from 300 to 500 watts into an 8 ohm speaker. You've got a bargain there for sure but a cheap cab might not be a good match. If you're not bothered too much with the weight, older high quality cabs will be cost effective. More modern lightweight neodymium loaded cabs will be more expensive and easier to move around and move on. There's a 212 cab for sale on here at the moment that would make a very capable rig with your amp; I doubt you'd ever need anything more powerful.
  20. I'd assume the EQ points will be the same as the Ampeg PF800 on which this mosfet version is based.
  21. I believe the mosfet version is a clone of the Ampeg PF800 and the tube version a clone of the GB Streamliner. If you like those you'll like the Bugeras. I've got a Bugera SVT CL clone and it's brilliant.
  22. Amy's got a bit of catching up to do on this thread.....
  23. As a fan of Trace Elliot GP12 amplifiers (Series 6 and SMX in particular) I was very interested to try the Ashdown Bass Graphic EQ/DI as it's variable pre-shape control and EQ points are practically identical. Having bought one on here and had an initial try out I'm really pleased. This unit is a TE Series 6 GP12 preamp and the variable pre shape gives my GK MB110 combo (set nominally flat) the classic TE sound. The magic in this unit is the pre shape and how you can vary the amount it affects your signal (the original TE pre shapes were either fully on or off). This unit isn't just a bass graphic EQ pedal, it's a fully featured preamp with the classic TE sound (and pedigree). The only minor negatives for me are the VU meter, which does look nice but isn't really necessary, and the graphic section adding a bit of hiss to the signal. I haven't tried it at volume yet but I can see myself using only the pre shape control to give my Markbass rig some lovely TE flavour.
  24. I've just bought an Ashdown EQ pedal from Chris who replied promptly to all comms, shipped in double quick time and packed it brilliantly for the journey. Thanks for such a smooth transaction Chris.
